I taught ESL in South Korea, in one of my first classes there was a little 6-year-old girl who could not speak a word of English but could sing this song perfectly with no accent.
I live in West Virginia, and this song is so meaningful to me, indeed to most West Virginians. Was floored to see this lovely Japanese lady singing this song to a Japanese audience. Love the kids dancing a rather complicated routine - they are well-practiced! Thank you so very much for this surprise!
The yearning for hometown is a big genre in Japanese arts: "furusato". John Denver got it so well for WV, that everyone feels it! Like "saudade" in Portuguese.
+Michael Nitsch I can't say I agree with you about her rocking - this isn't a rock song, just countryish folk-pop --and the children do nothing for this but serve as a pointless distraction, but I totally agree with you about her singing. By all means check out other songs sung by her, you won't be disappointed.

I wish that I could give more than one Like. Japan has a real Treasure with Nishida. The Girls were also fantastic and kudo's to their Choreographer as well.
I only have to agree to that but in my way of thinking she and her fabulous children "Ensamble" would make success where ever she would like to perform.
