I saved up for months to buy this very RC model back in 1988 and crashed it on the first flight but I didn't let that deter me from the hobby! I've now been in the hobby for over 30 years and just came across this video! Great flying and landing!!!
That was the best piloting skills ive ever seen anyone perform with a cox 182 skylane!!! I had one when I was a kid.. I put it into the ground 7-10 times before it finally died. Great job and great Vidd
Wow that was a great flying Cox Cessna Skyline. I remember I bought mine from a warehouse Sam's club, they are a great flying machines I am restaurant one right now and I'm looking forward to fly just like yours, by the way that was awesome landing very smooth.....
Real nice video! Thanks! I have one of these new in the box and I was wondering how well they fly. I just picked up a beat up electric trainer that I'll learn to fly with first before attempting flying the COX plane. Thanks again for the great video!
nice! have you flown yours yet? I just recently have taken an interest in the old Cox Rc planes. I just found a NIB lazy bee I'm hoping to get into the air soon.
What size of servo you using? And lipo? What fuel were u using that time? Nice video by the way I want to buy another of this i got rid the one to a vet. :)
Very nice. It flies very well. I've never seen one in person or seen one fly. Very cool. It had a really good glide too, quite suprised. Did you use modern micro RX, battery and Servos to save weight?
Hi, was that model for an electric motor? and then I adapted it for the Cox? . I have a Cox and I'm looking for a model to mount it but I don't know what to look for, I have looked at kyosho but they make small models that only go with their radios and not with futaba
I like his style! Never mind taxi or ground take off. Screw that! Hand launch and off it goes. Landing is a no brainer, what goes up, must come down. lol. Even if it is in pieces. I have a UMX Horizon Cessna, the hell with taxi.Too small anyways. The front wheel no loner turns with the rudder,it stopped doing that after the first grass landing. I even added a drop of superglue just so it wouldnt turn. Land them and thsts that. I dont have a fancy paved landing space anyways.
Awesome video Tony! Cox arf airplanes fly much better with modern electronics. I have a rc pt_19 that I fly and I traded the original rubber wheels out for dubro ultralight wheels and the plane flies much much better now. Please post more Cox powered planes and arf videos!
+Tommy Umphenour Thanks Tommy! I agree...lightweight electronics have greatly improved the performance of these Cox ARFs. Yep...those Cox RC PT-19 rubber wheel are very heavy, lightweight wheel are a must. I'm getting ready to modify mine with a .051 TD w/ throttle and can't wait to fly it. I flew it years ago with the stock Cox .049 Dragonfly and heavy electronics and it barely stayed aloft. Ah.....the good ole days! LOL
I just bought this model on eBay and it did not come with a manual. Could you tell me where the center of gravity needs to be measured at? Also how important is the control surface angles on this model? Thanks for your help.
i have this plane...i dont believe i ever checked the COG...i built it as the directions said to....only deviating by installing a black widow...this motor is shorter than what it came with and i had to shorten the cowling to make it work...but again i never verified the COG and flew the heck out of it...id still fly it today but i cant take the noise that engine makes...lol
Alex, its more than likely 1/3 the chord on the wing. Thats a good place to start anyway. Balance it there and then find a bunch of really tall grass and hand launch it straight out with the engine off in order to observe the glide path and see how it behaves. If it glides straight with a shallow decent then you are good, if it nose dives, go with more aft weight, if it drops the tail, move some weight forward and repeat until you get a good glide path, then go launch it with the engine started and fly it.
Hi Tony, meet me here congratulate your video is beautiful !, that model. You are from United States flying ?, beautiful place, we are in touch! I like it!
+MauricioB71 Thank you my friend! I live in California and was flying with my daughter and our friend Corey. Keep up your great videos! All the best, Tony
+Tony Accurso Thanks Tony for your wishes, how beautiful the Cessna Cox. Here at home there are wonderful things COX !!, here it costs get spare parts and accessories. It is a pleasure for me to have made contact with you, from here I offer my friendship for what you need, we are in contact, good flights! Greetings from Argentina.... Mauricio.
I fly my pt_19 with a 5×3 prop and a merlin head and it flys about like your cessna but I made my own landing gear set with dubro wheels. My landing gear is the exact shape as the stock landing gear. I can make you a set and send them too you for free if you would like. I even paint the hubs blue if you would like. if your interested pm me on the cox engines forum. I'm Geist Flieger on the forum. I'm a huge Cox fan and I have around 20 engines in my collection every size and model that was popular with 2 pt_19s (1 nib), 2 cessna centurion (1 nib), turbo arrow iii, Cox spyder, ez bee and I'm currently building a sig wonder for my cox rc conquest.

Tears of Rage Clan how bad was the crash? Was it impossible to tell it was an rc plane bad?

Glad you enjoyed the video, Matt! Yes, installed two 9 gram servos, micro receiver and a Futaba 400mAh battery. It's fun to fly!

does anyone know where i can find the instruction manual for this plane? thanks
Excelente muy bien.
Les mando un saludo muy cordial para todos desde Buenos Aires Argentina.
How much do these go for now
what type of battery are you using???? for the receiver and servos!!
I use the Futaba NR-4QB 4.8V 600mAh battery. It fits perfectly in the battery compartment and nails the CG.
Ok thanks for the reply!!!

Where is that location? Is that crosswinds?
can you control the gas on such a engine or just flying until it is empty because im thinking of a several project too
Fly till it drains.
Where is the center of gravity for this cessna 172????
At the wing spar.
What battery were you using in this aircraft?
400mAh Nicad
