I had four crab shedders at my home on the James River for years.I worked a full time job and ran peeler pots in the afternoon. My Dad was retired at the time and he would monitor the shedders while I was at work.I worked them at night. To minimize loss to becoming paper-shells I had to work them every 2 hours throughout the night. So yes,you have to be close to minimize loss.

Over the years my family have had a hard time finding who has them readily available so I would say distribution is key and you are doing a great job with your marketing and distribution. Just a Question Did you profit enough from the shedding tubs to justify doing a bigger operation In the future? I would be interested in finding out if it was a Grand idea ,which I think it was, to expand it next the season. Since your catch is smaller this time of year.
