i just bought a kink gap xl, and coming from a giant fathom 2, which is a mtb, this little bike seems like a steal man. i respect your opinion, especially as a bmx noob, and especially since i'm going to be using this as a commuter bike because of it's low cost, i just wanted to say that for a bike to get you around and jump up curbs, hit some tranny's, and mostly just have fun with around town, i think it's a great bike. the "trimoly" does bother me a bit, because spinning is fun and landing at ~325 instead of 360 is my specialty, but eh, it's a bmx and they're kinda cheap and cheerful. anyway, great insight, and i subbed, love the fact that you made a comparison sheet. keep it up man. thank you

I'm used to riding $1,500+ new school bmx builds, even though I'm 48 & no elite level rider anymore, I like EVERYTHING to be the best quality, but I just got a brand new 2022 Kink Whip XL on a trade, & I was BLOWN AWAY at how nice it rides & feels, the only complaint I'd have is the weight, but it's a nice enough bike I'm going to go all out on components for it, & it's a good enough bike for a beginner to intermediate rider to get to learn & progress on & upgrade as you go.
For $499.99 you're not gonna get a bike even near it, it has front/rear double wall rims, full chromoly(frame, fork, handlebars) & even a few aftermarket components, you'd need to spend $200+ to get that with any other company!
If you got thy big bucks, I recommend Sunday Dark Wave or Sound Wave(got the Dark Wave) We The People, or Fly high quality completes
I just bought the kink whip and it has been amazing! The only thing you might want to do is cut an inch off each side other the bars because it's like 30 inches wide, so bar spins are a little difficult, so an inch off each side and make it 28inches really helps. It's not hard to fix. Just thought Id let people know. Great bike though!
So, I will add another category of rider this bike. Guys like me: Old timers that used to ride BMX long ago, who’s kids are getting into BMX and you want a cheap bike to go flow around the bowls and cruise with them on (me). This looks like a bike that is essentially a BMX cruiser but has some capable freestyle potential if your 40-50yo back isn’t quite thrown out for the day (me). And if you don’t plan on ever hitting more than a single flight of stairs (me). I can see myself dropping into the bowl, doing some manuals, and bunny hopping on and off very wide beams, etc. with my GF’s kids… But thats seriously about it for me. More over, Dan’s Comp is all sold out of Whips. So I’m about to save a few bucks and I’ll buying this bike any way. ;-)
I’ll let you know how 50 yo bones feel on this thing after I burn some tread at the skate park behind my Condo. 🤘

Okay so i am/was looking for a beginer bmx. i have built my own hardtail mtn bike part by part. So i was looking for a full chrome o bmx but unfortunately i couldnt afford the we the ppl 2023 mid lvl i think 800 plus or minus.
So i havnt road anything but my road bikes. In 3 to 4 years.
I looked at all the bikes you have mentioned and since i have no experience since the early 2000s and on dans i found the black kink gap 20.5 for 319$ 36$ shipping so it was significantly cheaper. The many of the others at the 500ish price range were high tensile steel.
So the i wheels i think mission7 or 7mission i saw on other bikes kink offers for the 500ish range.
I build my own wheels could you recommend a good rim upgrade so just the hoop?
Since im not familar with bmx components and wheels etc 100% want double wall.
Also what type of spokes do top end bmx use.
I could ask so many questions but ill just limit it to the rim only.

I found the 2018 kink gap used for $250 and I looked at the specs and they say %100 4130 (vital bmx site) for frame, forks and bars? Do you know if this was the case for the 2018 model? I'm just confused that it's different from the new model. Is this a good deal? I know the score is low for the new models but maybe 2018 model is better?
Nah they word it in a deceptive way. They list it as “100% 4130 chromoly HT (headtube) TT (top tube) and DT (down tube) meaning the front triangle meaning only part of the bike is chromoly. They do this with all of the kink gaps. It also says 4130 steerer tube which means the legs are hi tensile steel. It’s the same as the new model just 4 years old! I think $250 is over priced for that since a brand new one right now is only $379

So thr gap would be good for a entry lvl rider? This is my first bike ever, super beginner, like never evem sat onna bmx before? Ive been considering this and the cult gateway, these fit my price range pretty well, i think the highest i would go is 500 - 510, would it be worth it to check out the cult devotion amd kink whip?
for a brand new rider, the gap is a solid choice. It's almost full chromoly and it will take you a while to learn tricks that will cause any abuse. The whip however is a little better quality for a tiny price increase.

I’m looking for my first real BMX bike and the options for me are either a used 20.5tt 2021 Sunday primer for 250, or the kink gap for 450(maybe less with Black Friday deals). I’m about 5’3 and 105lbs. I have a decent amount of experience with mountain bikes and only a bit with BMX. I’m also pretty pretty light with my bike. What y’all think?
I would prefer to keep it around It 350 range btw. Open to other suggestions as well

So I’m getting back into the game. Me and my son want to get some quality made BMXs , I was told KInk was USA made. Is this true? And can anyone really beat this for and entry level bike. Now I haven’t been on the scene in about 20 years (lol). So can some one point me In The right direct for a quality US made BMX that won’t break the bank for two entry level people. Thanks.
Kink is made in Taiwan I’m pretty sure. And just about any complete bike will be made overseas. Although I want to say higher end completes from Sunday are made by otx designs here in the USA. But I’m not 100% sure. Your best bet would be to get something that fits you and upgrade it with some American made s&m and profile parts

There’s a 200$ kink gap for sale on marketplace, so I think for me it’s worth it to not get a new whip. Plus I’m only 135 lbs so I don’t think I need full chromoly parts
I have a doubt the kink whip in India is $720 every single bike in India is overpriced do you think it’s a good idea to get the king whip
