I've said it before and I'll say it again, I love the way Dr Julie uses props to get her point across. It would take many other phycologists longer to get this point across! Yet, she does it in under a minute! She is the first phycologist I can relate to! Thank you so much for your help and your perspectives, they are invaluable to me as I'm sure it is to many people who face similar issues! 🙏
So true! I used to struggle with how my life changed drastically as a mom. I decided I am going to embrace the process. One day, my closest girl friend commented “motherhood becomes you”. She’s right! I now see it as beautiful part of me - no more fighting or resisting. Motherhood has become a joyful & fulfilling experience.
Not necessarily, if you set a schedule of 5 times a week right of the bat, odds are that'll be really hard to keep up with, so the "win" in that case might be setting a more manageable schedule
That is still a schedule that you'll have to stick to. I believe the person is thinking of the final result as the win and not the sticking to the schedule@@439801RS
That's why I am Falling in Love with the Process of Being Everything I want to be ❤. Also, Thank You So Much for your virtual presence, Dr. Julie. You're helping so many people without even getting enough credit for it. I hope you get all the best that the world has to offer 💕☀️💃🏻.
Hi i am currently enrolled in a Data Science program and i have been struggling with everything that u have mentioned, as we speak i am suppossed to do my projects but i feel overwhelmed, scared and it feels like a long way to go. I wil keep watching this video everyday i wake up so i can do what i have to do Thank you very much❤
The more you "think" about the projects instead of "doing" them, the harder they will begin to feel. Tell yourself that the best way to finish your projects is to START them. Then just start right now (walk to your computer, open it, open your work, and start moving your fingers on the keyboard)! After a while you might want to stop and do something else because it's too hard or boring or tiring. BUT just ignore those thoughts and keep DOING (moving your fingers around, doing those data things). Eventually you WILL feel lighter!
Thank you so much Dr Julie! Me and therapist talk about how helpful you are to me and other people with mental health challenges. Thank you so much for everything you do! God bless ❤
Dr Julie personifies wisdom presented gently with relatable imagery. I hope her advice helps the many who are here, and in turn I wish Dr Julie success, health and happiness.
exactly what I needed to hear @DrJulie : you're the only UA-camr who's every shorts (that I've watched) has been saved to my playlist. You create such beautiful content with simplified examples. Thank you for everything that you're doing for humanity.
That is so true. I remember when that alone was a hassle and now it’s a breeze. Now it’s easy to keep the whole house clean most of the time because of those small habits I do daily now without thinking about it.
I did this accidentally when i realized I love writing, I always wanted to "write a book" and "publish a book" but man i just love creating stories and that's so wholesome. I started writing everyday, just a bit or whatever I wanted, even if it's just a sentence or three pages, a bit. And one day i just realized man, i've almost finished writing one of the stories that have lived in my mind for like 4 years now. And every time i remember that i've done what i enjoy doing everyday since september makes me so happy it's almost crazy
I like to section off my work into smaller, more manageable groups. Then I just do them kind of back to back. Kind of like instead of watching a 3 hour movie, you binge watch it as 20 minute episodes instead. Ends up as the same amount of time and effort but feeling a lot less overwhelmed and more like you truly accomplished something.
My little advice is never to look on anything generally. Like you see, if you compare your own success to others, it may seem like it's "not enough", but i rather like to compare myself.. to my past self. It helps you see the "graph" of improvement in your head if you look back and see "oh, i used to be much worse than I am now" instead seeing "oh, i'm still not as good as that person". It's all about the view.
Everything is a step. Even doing the normal things like making a cup of tea, walking round a shop, watching a film. Most things don't happen all at once anyway.😊
That's exactly what i did. Went from anxious to secure was in a very painful situation and honestly just got fed up with my life and decided to change it by healing. I lost my aunt, fiance, my mother fell sick and now my father passed away five days ago. Its so confusing to be stuck in a positive mindset, remain focused, fell sad, feel lonely but contempt with it, and truying to get my DA fiance back that has fallen into a deep depression and and locked the world while having other people drawn to me and helping them with their problems. And am now the soul provider for my mother and sister. Gods work is never-ending 🎉 And I aint complaining, just happy and contempt to do the impossible walk through the park like I always do 😅❤
Thank you Dr. Julie. I'm a post graduate full time student and my motivation really started to dwindle and I started feeling burnt out. Thank you for the message.

Hi, I'm currently writing my first novel and at first I was thrilled by the idea of the plot but when I actually started doing some research on how to write professionally this is exactly what happened. Character arcs, character development and depth, plotlines, timelines , world building, character interviews and so much that this video is exactly what I needed!
This is so true and something I just started doing. 100% vouch for this advice. I found keeping a virtual post-it app on the phone and recording each step of progress with the date helps me feel really proud of myself. It also serves as a visual of your progress. One rule, don't add anything until you have already done it.
My problem lies more in that monotony, I set out to try something new, initially sorta like and keep doing it, but soon the novelty wears off and it's just another thing I do, or not, doesn't really matter
I’ve ran into this monotonous feeling as well. I find the way to keep up with the habit is to modify the routine day to day to give it some variety. For example, instead of doing cardio, I’ll do Pilates or yoga. If I want to keep up with my yoga, change the sequence or try a new pose for fun. Instead of eating the leftover cheese pizza, how about adding some new toppings to spice things up. The key for me is to not keep the routine linear, but rather flexible to reach your goals. I hope this helps and wish you luck! ❤
@@439801RSI'm the same. Whether I do or don't do something has the same feeling. If completing goals has the same level of satisfaction as giving them up, why even bother.
Maybe you are someone who likes new challenges. That's great. Some people stick with one or two things. Some people can do lots different things maybe that is more you. Or something that happens to involve a lot of challenges. Keep your ears and eyes with those you meet and what you see in life open. I think you will find that something or somethings soon one day. Take care.
What has helped me most was picking the things I knew I could keep doing, and viewing the "end goal" as an inevitable outcome as long as I'm getting my expected results on a monthly basis.
It’s about discipline. I learned this while starting to workout and now it’s become an integral part of my lifestyle. I’m genuinely happier and eagerly looking forward for continuous positive growth.
This is so true! *this is what is want *this is what I do *this is who I become *this is who I am I’ve learned this in the doing. Many years ago I began to paint every day. Sometimes for only a few minutes, sometimes for 12 hours straight! Then all the paintings began to build up. I got better and better. My work began to jury into a show here and there and then many shows! Now I am part of a gallery! And I’m invited to prestigious art fairs! It’s finally happened, it IS my life! Those who don’t know the YEARS of work, vision and sticking to it might think it happened quickly but I’ve been at it for really my whole life! 💫🎉❤️
I learned recently that you also have to understand the identity you have now as well, because if you don’t feel good enough and that gets in the way or you feel like you can’t then you have to process that and figure out where it comes from so you can pull the roots out and place a new plant or identity
My trick is breakthroughs along the way, and usually you tend to forget the distance to the end goal and achieve many outcomes from each step! And some you never even knew you needed to learn or help to launch another mini goal. What was A to B becomes a whole tree. 😊
Yess! This is me before, too. Before, I really want to animate and become an artist, but the motivation for it dwindled until I just gave up. That's when I started to do some writing instead, and that opened up so much for me as a person whose their second language is English. The progress I had with writing English as a whole felt satisfying, and the visions I keep dreaming and seeing as a writer shines bright like how I used to draw a lot before. Not today, but someday, my hobby on literacy and creative fiction will in turn become like the Harry Potter series turrned films!
