In the late 70's in my very early teens, I started in Montauk with a salty local guy I knew through my dad. In order to "earn my stripes" and be accepted, those mean old men used to "send the kid" (me) down the wall under the light to land their bigger fish for them. To this day I have not fully recovered from the beating I took.
