    Hehe good work as usual Nic! Even though there was a weird edit where Carina only came in at #2 ... I assume that's a typo. We can discuss this over drinks sometime in the future. 🍻

    If I ever get to go image in the South, the Tarantula nebula is first on my list. It looks very different from all the "usual ones"... while it doesn't look anything like a tarantula to me, I feel it deserves the name. Maybe it looks like the creature's lair :)

    A bit out of date, as it were, but the Tarantula Nebula with supernova 1987a shining next to it ... no CCDs, DSLRs, just Ektachrome and Technical Pan 2415 or Tri X ...

    HI , big fan of your channel. Can you please clarify something for me. I polar aligned (in Australia) using the PoleMaster for the first time ever! and I wasn't sure what speed to use on the RA Motor when tracking. The star was still drifting out of the cross hair but I wasn't perfectly level (tripod mount) so I will try it again tonight making sure I am spot on level and see if I track perfectly.
    So Is 2x Normal Speed? Or 4x. What SLEW speed reflects the rotation of the earth? Also, should you not use the fine adjustment knobs when the motor is running because you can damage the motor? Instead use the buttons on the controller to fine adjust / center onto your star after you have moved the telescope using the clutches?

    Carina nebulae is amazing. I shoot it in Nicaragua with a 135mm vintage len, Canon RebelT7 and my experimental star tracker. lt was wonderful to see the red color in the center of the nebulae. Grear video Nico. Greetings from Nicaragua

    Hey do you have a video on using a smart phone? It might not be your preferred style of picture, but I see people asking in astrophotography for beginners where to start, all they have is a phone. I can only explain so much in a comment on facebook. To have a trusted source make a video on the matter that I could just link to would be awesome.

    Great list. For me, I would remove the North American and include the Rossette. Just really partial to the Rosette. I would probably throw in the Jellyfish as well. It looks like a 🧠 to me.

  • @matthewb8229

    Orion was the first I took pics of. It was really just an expirimet with my wife's Canon T1i, no modifications, and while a little shakey, the colors were amazing. My mount was garbage, but it the fact that I got anything that even resembled the nebula was rewarding.

    Perfect place to image the Carina Nebula is the Nullarbor Plain (means Treeless). A few kms in from the coastal cliffs or on the edge of the coastal cliffs. Antarctica is the next stop.

    filter recommendations for the lagoon nebula

    • @NebulaPhotos
      @NebulaPhotos  3 роки тому

      Really anything can work well. If you use something like a CLS or an L-eNhance, you will get more of the extended red parts, but it's bright enough that even without a filter or a very gentle filter (L-Pro) it will come out beautifully.

    Hi Nico. Great video. I have a question. I sent my Canon T5 for astro modify but nos i have problems to focus on infinity. Even in manual mode. Any idea how to solve this? They say cannot add something to the sensor for Focusing.

    • @NebulaPhotos
      @NebulaPhotos  3 роки тому

      Usually they either add some clear glass or adjust the sensor distance so that infinity focus still works. You might want to try adding a clip in filter that still passes the Ha line like the Astronomik L2 and see if having that extra piece of glass in there fixes it. Is it with all lenses or just some?

    • @mariovm1243
      @mariovm1243 3 роки тому

      @@NebulaPhotos i have some clip filters. Like CLS and UHC from Svbony. I haven’t tried with those yet. It works decent with 50 mm. F/1.8 and 75-00 @75 but not with Rokinon 135 mm F/2 or Samyang 16 mm F/2. If i close the aperture the focal lenght helps with Focusing.

    • @NebulaPhotos
      @NebulaPhotos  3 роки тому +1

      See if adding the clip filters helps. It might!
