- If you have equations in MS Office documents (MS Word, PowerPoint) created using the old Equation Editor 3.0, you will notice that if you try to edit them using Office 2016 that you are no longer able to edit them. However, if you have MathType installed (the demo used MathType 6.9), then you can open, edit and convert them into the "new" OMML equation editor in Office 2016.
Hi,
First of all thank you for this tip!
But I have a question, why does this work for Powerpoint but not for Word? I don't understand.
In Word it cannot be edited.
If I copy an equation from Word to Powerpoint -> No problem.
But from Word to Word -> Cannot be edited. (can only be edited through MathType)

Do it again in ms word without mathtype? Dislike for this video
I don't think it can be done without MathType, as you need to be able to open the old equation. The only alternative I can think of is to get a really old version of MS Word, which has not been patched.
