I lived here in the 50's & 60,s. It was then a vibrant town with more pubs than you could count. Cars could drive down New St in those days and on a Saturday there were so many people in the street that you could only go at a slow walking pace with your car. The town has been destroyed by bad planning and Telford, or Dawley New Town as we knew it. There was a strong vibrant market and a regular livestock auction. I rember a bull getting loose and terrorising people in Market St back in the day. My father was foreman at the Chad Valley and it was a bad day when asset strippers closed it. Home of Sooty and Sweep. dad had a hand in their design and creation.he used to caddy for Mr Corbett on the Wrekin golf course when he visited the factory
