Thanks for stopping by! This is my second channel featuring clips from my full podcasts.
I used to be an unhealthy corporate lawyer. At 40 I decided to change my life. I switched to a 100% plant-based diet, lost 50 pounds and started exploring human potential in the worlds of ultra-endurance, wellness, mindfulness and spirituality. Now 51, I travel the world sharing what I have learned in talks, books, and on my podcast. I'm also a dad to 4 kids & live in Malibu, California.

The Alcoholics Paradox: Should I Get Sober Now or Later? | Roll On Listener Questions
"All bets are off every time you decide to take that substance into your body: there is a good chance that something terrible is going to happen in your life. And that's something you can't control." - Rich Roll
In this clip from episode 668, Adam and I discuss the "alcoholics paradox" and what it looks like to navigate addiction and recovery when you have a future treatment date planned out. Should you get sober now and step into treatment as the most sober person possible? Or should you wait until you can get into treatment?
Thank you for calling in, Nathan.

, Tip off the $$$ iceberg.
Rich under appreciates the power from physical training for those in recovery. That alone won't make you sober (obviously), but getting obsessed with exercise/fitness is a much better "addiction" and can serve as a viable bridge to get to the other side of this thing. Just my observation :)
They're both great. Different and great.
No contest: The Beatles.
No contest: The Stones.
@ The Stones have a lot of good songs and Sticky Fingers is a great album but, I’ll take The Beatles first and foremost.
Yeah. 39 years of doing drugs
I went from being a vegetarian for most of my life to vegan over 3 years ago. I love it! It is always good to see others enjoying a better life with a vegan/plant based diet! Yay!🎉😊
Indians are whole time on vegetarian diet most of time
Here’s the key to staying fit; discipline. Plain and simple. Anything else is just BS.
I watch this at age 39… thank you 🙏
If I pursue pain, I'll feel better in the long run then?
I had the pleasure of briefly coming across Eduardo in Idaho about 5 or so years ago and boy is he just an amazing person. A beautiful soul!
Don't believe a thing she says.
Thank you for highlighting this. I couldn’t put it into words, but this is something I’ve dealt with since I was 12 years old. I’m 34 years old and learning how to live with body dysmorphia and binge eating disorder using better tactics
Could You address rationalizing staying with enabling partners? Our son is attempting long term sobriety but stays in touch with someone very unhealthy. She continues to call him, show up, chase him. I know this will not end well, but he keeps rationalizing it saying he doesn’t want to hurt her feelings. History of using together.
So full of herself, smh…
I'll always admire her accomplishments, but she lost my respect this week. Not cool.
Eh - she’s mentally ill and probably in a toxic relationship. I think she needs our help and prayers far more than she needs anyone respecting her at this point.
Love is a feeling and a decision
kek, you're funny
🙏❤🙏
Getting ready for my first 24 hour race, and came back here for Courtney's wisdom. Her chiseling out the pain-cave will be in my visualizations, I'm sure!
So it’s not any diet that help stay sober?
Stine Rex is The Best
:) I wish him, love peace and Success. Well done and thank you for sharing ur story.
Whats the ep?
Once you realise how powerful the mind is the whole world feels like your playground. It's life changing
Going carnivore changed my life
You’re destroying the planet by doing so.
Yesssss that’s when I really started to change ❤
I don’t take seriously any vegan
Well that vegan will wave at you through the window of your nursing home room.
Have you studied the "Blue Zones"
@@todd92371I’ve been to 2 of the zones and they eat meat there… It’s usually more veggies, fruits, nuts, ect but there is meat. Usually for lunch/dinner…
@@IconIcon-p9j which areas?
@@todd92371 Okinawa and Sardinia
Always Excellent information. To each his own.
Not like us 🙄
Golden smile 🤘😃🤘
You have such an amazing gift and we are so fortunate to have you in our camp. Your interviews and your gidy of words are amazing. Thank you.
There are very convincing MDs out there pushing the high protein diet. It's so confusing for the average person. I even see overweight registered nurses sucking down the protein drinks. They should know better.
Also because people get blackmailed and gaslit.
I don’t think he had childhood traumas but do think he was an alcoholic and that traveling opened his eyes to the world and how depressing it really is.
I think it does matter which sport you train for. Jumping jacks does not help you swim better.
Put some basil in there Rich. It makes you feel wild! 😜 🌱
conformity is just to comfort community
Enjoy your inflammation with plants. Two steaks a day works for me.
I worry about getting enough protein as much as I worry about getting enough oxygen. In both cases, as long as you get enough calories, or get enough air, the proportion of protein or oxygen is fine. Yes, in both cases you can create extreme situations where you don't get enough.
She is an amazing lady, I love her mindset and how she behaves in life, so humble and so talented, a role model for sure ❤
❤❤❤
You are probably type A blood type.
He lived life more than 99.9 percent of all of you....
Its like comparing a pear to an apple Yes both are quite fibrous but both have different tastes and textures that's incomparable. Beatles are very experimental while still having their old 50s rockabilly flavour in some of their songs. The Beatles even played some rockabilly before working on their own songs. As for the Stones, they are influenced pretty much by the blues. Straight up blues, from Muddy Waters to Chuck Berry to Robert Johnson which shows that they're pretty much an incarnation of the old blues (i know Clapton is also influenced by the blues but he's a different case). As a blues/rock/punk guitarist myself, it feels natural to play Rolling Stones and its very enjoyable but the Beatles songs are much more innovative in a way and it couldn't really be approached with the same way I play stones. At the end of the day, both are good music and stop comparing. Cheerio
There's no question that a whole foods, plant-based diet is superior to the standard American diet however I suspect that the carnivore diet or an animal-based ancestral diet may be even better.
Would you invite me?
You're such an inspiration... been following you for about 10y
AA isnt the only answer.
3/4 per pound is a lot. I doubt most people are near that
