8 Bit Theme Park Japan
Japan
Приєднався 31 січ 2022
Tips, Trips and Trivia from Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea.
8 Bit Theme Park started as a project to recreate classic theme park rides in a early video game style, eventually the channel evolved as I wanted to be able to talk about theme parks where I live in Tokyo, Japan. I felt that there wasn't much in-depth discussion of the Tokyo theme parks like there was for American or European parks. So I started by making in-depth videos about Tokyo Disney Resort, and hope to shed some light on the lesser-known parks in the area, too.

40:10 You're right the Gondolas very much hold special memories for me as it was my first ever ride on any Disney park. The biggest highlight for me was surprisingly not the extremely beautiful Venice theming nor was it the breathtaking view of Mt Prometheus, but rather the lovely staff members who went above and beyond to make this little boat ride even more special. They were so kind and helpful throughout the entire ride; they interacted and entertained the guests while we were in queue, the boatman sang a little song that actually led up to the big Mt Prometheus reveal, I don't think most of that ride would be memorable if it weren't for the incredible staff. Props to them
Excellent point! They’re the best aren’t they 😍
Toy Story looks like Coney Island a bit why not a Coney Island style pier with Wooden Cyclone style ride?
I’d love for us to get another thrill ride in DisneySea. And honestly for all of California Adventure’s flaws, something like California Screamin’ rolling around the back of Toy Story Mania would be really fun!
This store is literally always empty and nobody ever buys anything. They dont even sell splash merch anymore and critter country specific merch is scarce, so theres no reason to shop here over anywhere else in the park. Its at an awkward spot and it makes sense to close it when that labor could be put elsewhere. They closed Splashdown photos and the saloon was closed for a while too. I dont think this store closing has anything to do with Splash itself. That being said, they could have just kept making splash merch and im sure people would flock to this store.
Will it become hyperspace mountain in 2027?
Regular stores across Japan also close dead on time and start to shove out all the guests about 15 minutes before closing time and the famous melody chime playing announcing the closing. It's especially bizarre here in Osaka in the shopping street full of people and the stores full of customers that they are interrupted mid way and are shown the door. Then after 8pm you walk the streets full of potential buyers but all the shops are closed. I especially hate it when rushing to buy something after you've just finished your work you basically have like 1-2 hours to run around the shopping street in a hurry before they kick you out. Don't need customer's money, huh.. Also you know the parks can be better because you've been to other parks in other countries. Most Japanese never traveled outside Japan and can't imagine how things are out there, so Tokyo Disney Resort is the only (the standard) one, they will ever know. There's basically no reference level to anything.
They new to put a new food booth location in its place
FOOD BOOTH
Disney needs to fix the yeti to prove good faith to OLC.
We need a video-update of which rides to take with the Standby pass and premier pass thing, its confusing and i dont know which of them are better to reserve first
What do you mean by western river expedition?
i think they run out of budget so the hotel decos arent finish yet so they need customers to fund the continuation of finishing the hotel LOL
Just bring back the 8 bit disney ride povs, your most popular video is your first!
I really appreciate that you like those videos, I love them too! But they are an absolutely ludicrous amount of work compared to my other videos, and they’re not as popular. Yes, my most viewed video ever is the Pinocchio one, but it’s also much older than my other videos, so it’s had more time to get views. I simply get much more enjoyment and success out of making Tokyo Disney videos so that’s what I’m going to be doing for the foreseeable future, sorry!
OLC says no decision has been made according to the Japanese news. I hope it stays. Either way, I plan to go to ride it again to experience the mighty satisfactual experience.
I wouldn’t be content with a retheme no matter what it might be because I hate the principle that the Br’ers are unwelcome and don’t belong in the Disney family. I can’t get past the hatred the company has for those characters.
So I suppose this channel saw how some of the anti woke Disney UA-camrs have progressed in the space and decided to go with the same format and double down on the woke buffoonery to try and perpetuate the idiocy.
Alice in Wonderland re theme is my bet.
There is no returns happening and Splash Mountain is not closed in the US. Disney has no right to remove it anywhere and is breaking the law every day it withholds the movie from release.
0:09 I think he got the script mixed up with universal studio
Just the video I didn’t know I needed.
So glad it could be helpful!
Lmaoo this video is full of shit😂😂😂
I don't want Splash Tokyo to get rethemed but a zootopia theme would be interesting. It's got the animals and the landscape is perfect without changing much of it. There's less singing but I guess that would be fine. I honestly wish they could have done this here in America and just put Tiana ride in Fantasyland. Both Splash had a lot of old animatronics that I think could have been reused and the land could've change without much of a problem.
Tokyo Disneyland better not close their version of Splash Mountain! The Japanese Disney fans love the Br'er characters from Song of the South!
Disney aren’t letting TDL use rights for the characters in the gift shops and as walk around ect, the only thing they haven’t been able to do is stop them from using them on the ride. They straight up don’t want to and it’s Disney applying pressure along with channels like yourself who are leaning towards the retheme. Why do you think they have Pluto and Mickey on the new splash mountain pin? They can’t use the br’ers in merchandise, but splash is still popular, so this is the only choice they had…
Disney legally cannot withhold the characters or merchandise. Splash Mountain is never closing in Tokyo and is still open in the US. I was there on October 1, 2046 for WDW’s 75th and Disneyland’s centennial on July 17, 2055 and Splash Mountain is still there. Tiana is banned like Pete Rose.
Theres no proof of an embargo on the characters OLC can or cannot use. They recently printed some pamphlets for the get wet max season that had the Brer costume characters on it and they are still occasionally seen on merch with other characters and in areas around the park. Plus, the new pin is actually just a modified version of an old pin from splash at magic kingdom which already had mickey and pluto on it. I do believe OLC has received a "kind request" from Disney in the states to limit their usage of the characters and song of the south IP, but theres nothing to indicate they arent allowed to use them.
I don’t think that they will returns it to Tiana because they already have a New Orleans in Adventureland so it would be redundant
This guy really doesnt like Splash Mountain...
I have a video ranking every ride at the resort, you can see what I think of Splash Mountain 🪵 ua-cam.com/video/rq-J-x_WAwE/v-deo.htmlsi=X-Tb7IV8pgzJFxgQ
I've seen speculation about a Chip and Dale re-theme. I know they already have appeared on Splash Mountain merchandise in Japan.
bro omg can they js leave it alone??
Another ip that works is Godzilla, they could retheme critter country into monster island and have splash mountain be themed to a Godzilla film, since the princess fog is just kinda a reskin of gojira, it would fit right in
The rumor is actually that Tokyo’s Splash Mountain will be rethemed to “Pocahontas”. It fits thematically between Fantasyland and Westernland, while being the perfect fit for a log flume. Why else would OLC feature Pocahontas on Fantasy Springs merchandise?
@@ChienaAvtzon post sauce or didn’t happen
@@ChienaAvtzon and whether that’s true wouldn’t Pocahontas be twice as offensive than SOTS IP?? Sounds like backwards logic to me Bruh.
@@Princessmisery - Take it you never saw “Song of the South”.
@@Princessmisery There's nothing offensive about either Song of the South or Pocahontas but it doesn't matter. Splash Mountain is not closing in Tokyo, ever and is not closed in the US.
A zootopia splash mountain could work as floating down the rivers of the rainforest district or the marsh town in the sequel or in a zootopia video game a villain was planning to flood zootopia.
no one wants zootopia
Splash Mountain is not going anywhere in Tokyo and is still open in the US. Disney has no right to close it or to withhold Song of the South. I was at WDW's 75th in 2046 and Disneyland's centennial in 2055 and can confirm Splash Mountain is alive and well.
🙄
@@someguy4253 I speak the truth and am commenting from the year 2067. Time travel is also real. I also successfully took over Disney and made it great again by going backwards, undoing the whole Iger era, and bringing back the "What would Walt do?" mantra. Uncle Sam made Disney release Song of the South and those within Disney that wanted Splash gone ended up losing their careers after being named in front of the HUAC.
@@stanfordite1 - Congratulations on proving you are a Bot, and do not know that Splash Mountain was built being the Michael Eisner era. Walt Disney would never have built that type of ride.
@@ChienaAvtzon I am a member of the United States military and you will show proper respect. I outrank you, civvie and you take orders from me. It's the law, do you understand? You answer "Yes Sir" when military personnel ask you a question. I've got family in Congress, too. Walt Disney loved Brer Rabbit and would absolutely have built Splash Mountain. He built the Matterhorn. I have been going since anyone running Disney was born and will be going long after. Everything I say is true and part of my job is gatekeep the Disney fandom.
@@stanfordite1 - Go back to your therapist.
What is this section in 5:40?
The mermaid lagoon theater waiting area, the theater has been closed since 2020 so it’s a good example of how post-covid OLC cut a lot of corners compared to before.
@@8bitthemepark - I thought that area is eventually being turned into a dark ride.
BRING BACK WESTERN RIVER EXPEDITION YOU COWARDS!!!!!!
Bruh
Scare mongering. The shop that doesn’t sell splash mountain merch is closing doesn’t mean anything.
😡
Tokyo Disneyland is keeping splash mountain
No, they are not.
@@ChienaAvtzon Yes they are. Disney has no right to remove it anywhere or to withhold Song of the South from release. Splash Mountain is open in the US.
Pocahontas is perfect 👍
I trust the OLC in making a Tiana’s bayou adventure ride worthy of replacing splash mountain
OLC is rumored to be retheming Splash Mountain to “Pocahontas”.
Splash Mountain is not closing in Tokyo and is not closed in the US. Wake up.
Pocahontas, Cars or Encanto… But something original would be great!
They should just leave Splash alone, they already murdered 2 of them
They did leave it alone. Splash is open in the US.
I always thought it was very strange that Dr. Facilier was sort of the main Disney Villain for this year's TDL Halloween at the same time Tiana's Bayou Adventure opened in the states. It could just be a coincidence, but Dr. Facilier and Princess and the Frog have never had much representation at TDR.
The most ideal retheme would be an original story that still revolved around the critters of Critter Country without the brers and not some other Disney ip. The sightlines and theming for Splash were just so precise and calculated. There's just so many details it almost feels like a small TDS area in TDL. It would be a very big waste if they just threw it all away. Sadly, if they're getting rid of that shop with cute critter lore, they might be ditching the critter theme entirely. It would also be quite sad to lose that amazing soundtrack from the ride and the area itself. Side note: do you think the unannounced development in adventureland could be for a potential Tiana ride in the future? I feel a normal boat system would work better than logs in a flume. It could allow the bayou to look more like a bayou.
It is the critters that cannot be licensed anymore.
@@ChienaAvtzon the Critter Country lore and characters are exclusive to Tokyo, though.
I am not sure OLC would love to invest in a mega-E ticket anymore... All money invested in Fantasy Springs was pre-covid decision. The company looks very different after covid. They did choose to close Space Mountain and build a whole new one, but consider the cost to maintain a 40-year-old roller coster and the cost to build a new one, it may not be hugely different. I really feel OCL is getting closer to Iger Disney regarding how to cut corners...This week they started to put all central seats in shows to be VP and DPA, this feels harsh, honestly, it feels like you have to pay to see the show after paying for admission... (well. it is actually the situation.. The lottery is nearly impossible to win and they canceled the standby queue even for the second floor seat of the first show) After DPA for Believe... After budget cut on shows... After...
You’re so right about OLC being a different company post-covid. The only real ride announcement we’ve seen from them is the Buzz retheme which isn’t exactly encouraging. I do hope that’s the one division that will continue to produce good stuff but we’ll see.
Yeah I would not trust current day OLC to build anything worthy of replacing their entire Critter Country essentially or a retheme on the scale of what we saw at Fantasy Springs/Beauty and the Beast since those were all budgeted prior to covid
@@wendygai9279 - Are you talking about the same post-pandemic OLC that just signed a deal to pay over $2bil (that is in USD not Yen) for a Disney cruise ship? As much as I dislike Iger, he never cut corners. Cars Land and Pandora come to mind. It was Chapek and D’Amaro who slashed the budgets on everything, and hide behind paywalls.
I really hope that Splash Mountain stays. It’s one of the best attractions to ever open at any Disney Park and I bet OLC knows having the last one is a big draw. While I’m sure that they would make something far better than Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, I would much prefer them build a entirely new ride instead of close their best attraction.
If they change splash mountain, they should make it Duffy & friends themed. Make some sort of Duffy Land back there. The Japanese people would love it 😊 Regardless, Tokyo Disney needs some sort of Duffy Land/Ride somewhere in their parks. Duffy is so popular there, I’m surprised there isn’t something themed there already?!
As cute as the idea is, I would prefer if they did it in Disney sea, as that is the origiojal home of Duffy and friends. That being said, I have a lot of cute ideas for Duffy mountain
duffy is probably the worst and most generic IP ever made by disney, that would be a horrible IP to retheme splash to. Also, duffy is relegated to disneysea and rarely has anything in Land itself.
I wouldn't believe in rumors until OLC makes a concrete statement. Now these rumors just feels like fearmongering to me.
Considering OLC pays Disney a licensing fee for their IP, you better believe Disney has the final say on which characters are allowed in the Tokyo Disneyland Resort.
@@ChienaAvtzon that is true, but the licensing agreement lasts for another 50 years.
@@Princessmisery - How long the licensing deal last is irrelevant. OLC is banned from selling merchandise with the characters from Splash Mountain, and is revoking the licensing to “Zippity Do Da”. Which means the ride would be silent and OLC cannot earn any extra money from merchandising.
yeah disney people love to fearmonger with splash, thats all this is
Ffs im going in februairy
It’ll still be there in February
Splash will be down for maintenance February next year it seems.
@@kaddykadkad^this! It will be closed Feb 12-March 19, 2025. I strongly encourage anybody planning trips to refer to the "Temporary Closure of Park Facilities" guide beforehand! you can just google "tokyo disney maintenance schedule" to find it
I think its closed for reburbishment tho 😬
@@someguy4253 Oh no that’s right! 2/12 to 3/19. I hope you’re coming before the 12th! 😶
They closed Splash Mountain in the US only because so many Americans who have NEVER have even seen the movie said that it’s racist. Not only is the movie not racist, but it was pretty woke for its time period. That said, domestic Disney redid its native scenes in both Jungle Cruise and Peter Pan because somehow made up tribes in South Central Amerafrica and Neverland are culturally insensitive. But OLC goes and puts up teepees and other such things in their new Fantasy Springs section. And doesn’t Tokyo have the “original” pirates? Like, they may have added Jack Sparrow, but still chase women in the town they pillage and then auction them off, because, you know, pirates were historically not good people? Pretty sure that store was closed when I went in June. I even asked a cast member about it. I certainly didn’t notice it at all when walking out from the ride.
They did not close Splash Mountain in the US. Disney also had no right to change the Jungle Cruise or Peter Pan and the guilty parties will be prosecuted for doing so.
@@stanfordite1what do you meant “they did not close Splash Mountain in the US?” They closed both the one in CA and the one in FL to retheme it to Tiana. Disneyland hasn’t opened yet but WDW it is frequently closed due to mechanical issues.
@@UmmYeahOk Splash Mountain is not closed in the US and was alive and well for both WDW's 75th in 2046 and Disneyland's centennial in 2055. I was there for both and I am posting this from the year 2067. We can speak to people in the past now and time travel is real. Disney has no right to remove Splash Mountain in the parks and this is your future Owner of Walt Disney Productions speaking. Those within Disney that wanted Splash Mountain gone faced charges.
@@stanfordite1you said they “did not close” splash mountain. That is past tense. This is the year 2024. They closed it. We live in a timeline in which both splash mountains closed. No one in 2024 cares about what 40s and 50s Disney looks like. Besides, even if they did bring it back, it won’t be anything like the original. Just like when like finally opened Horizons 2.0 and Journey into Imagination in the 30s. It was much different than the original. It had to be.
@@UmmYeahOk It is not 2024. It is 2067, Splash Mountain never closed and there is no Tiana's Bayou Adventure. Any video that shows a ride through of it is fake. Every Disney fan cares about what 40s and 50s Disney looks like. As Owner of Disney following my takeover, I have taken Disney back to the 20th century where it is now perpetually frozen in time. I have brought back the "What would Walt do?" mantra that ran Disney after his passing.
i do think olc will either get a way better version of tiana’s bayou adventure or get a completely unique retheme that has tokyo disney’s local audience in mind
Tiana's Bayou Adventure does not exist and never will. Splash Mountain is not closing in Tokyo and not closed in the US. Disney has no right to remove it anywhere.
It’s the STORE that’s going away. Not the ride.
For now…
@@8bitthemepark OLC’s not gonna comply to changing the ride.
@@disneyparksstarwarslover7638 Why not?
Because its a very popular ride there and the Japanese folks would not tolerate it. It would literally financially hurt OLC. Well….it’s probably hurting the American parks too but Iger just doesn’t care lol.
@@someguy4253 They would tolerate it just fine 😂. Guests here love Buzz, it has a 3 and a half hour queue as we speak, but the guests here are excited to see what will come next.
