Fascinating Full Time Lapse Video Of The Cicada's Molting Process (HD)
Check Out this awesome time lapse of what a Cicada looks like when molting from one of those creepy looking creatures we see stuck to trees and buildings, into a beautiful flying insect that will live for only a few hours... Nature is AWESOME!!
Here are the steps of a cicada molting:
1. The cicada nymph finds a suitable location to molt.
2. The cicada's skin starts to crack and peel away.
3. The cicada slowly emerges from its old skin.
4. The cicada's wings are still wet and folded.
5. The cicada pumps its abdomen to inflate its wings.
6. The cicada's wings slowly unfold and dry.
7. The cicada is now a fully-fledged adult.
8. The cicada flies away from the tree branch.
** Cicadas molt once a year. They usually molt at night. The molting process takes about 2-3 hours. **

      Time is money, the more work you can do in a shorter amount of time is going to earn you more each day/week/month, depending on when you go to the scrap yard to cash in. If you did 1 a day, thats 30 a month... I can do over 30 in a hour this way. 1 hour a day, 30 broken down to cash in, after 1 month that's 900.. thats a 2900% increase on your monthly income... thats why the fastest way is best.

    That's still going to be very tight sometimes. That's why I use a meat cleaver thru the middle. I wrecked 1 meat cleaver by failing to split the metal slats before pounding it in. Also, grinders are dangerous & waste metal, so I use them as last resort.

      I've seen this done and think it's effective on the bigger motors . Some of the smaller motors maybe not so much. I've also seen a hybrid of both of these methods.But to me the hybrid method did not make sense.

    At the yard I go to copper transformers are 30 cents/lb where as clean bright copper is 3.80/lb definitely worth cleaning them if you have a decent amount

    nice chunk of copper. those motors are most definitely worth the effort. those glasses aren't eye protection, i also use foam ear plugs, if goggles aren't comfortable with glasses get a shield that flips down, it's as easy as putting on a hat, hot sharp metal in the eye is no joke, and i wear thick gloves when prying on stuff like that... take care of yourself, no one else will.

    • @Mike-v6r
      @Mike-v6r 8 місяців тому

      The thick gloves won't work for this. If you use them it will slow down the process to the point of not making money..

      Sounds like something to try out. I always face the windings up instead of to the side. And always use the bigger 7 in blade type grinder works faster. Some of these motors have aluminum windings and are a waste of time. Sometimes the motor has both aluminum and copper inside.

    Not worth it, most are half aluminum. Just scrap them as electric motors.

    • @CoreyCoversALL
      @CoreyCoversALL Рік тому

      It may not be worth the time to you, But some people would rather take The 3 minutes it takes to get the copper half off, and then just scrap the rest. Would you throw fifty cents away just because it wasn't a full dollar? Would you give up on anything in life just because it's not one hundred percent? Laziness is not an excuse, You either want the max amount Or you just get whatever cheap amount they take you because you don't want to do a little extra work...

    What if the transformer has no weld spots

    • @CoreyCoversALL
      @CoreyCoversALL Рік тому

      That means it's interwoven, Unfortunately there's not much more of a choice than to cut the copper on one side and pull it out from the other.. I mean you could cut the steel part but you're gonna spend so much more time. But before I even did any of that I would scratch the copper and make sure it's worth it... there's times where it's worth just turning that interwoven style in whole. Hope that helps! Happy Scrappin'! -- let me know what choice you end up going with!
