Top 5 Superfoods for a Healthy Boost
"Do you want to boost your health with the food you eat? Well, you are in the right place!"
"First on our list are berries, nature's little powerhouses! Bursting with flavor and packed with nutrition, berries are a must-have in any diet. They're like nature's candy, but wBerries also boast a high fiber content, which aids in digestion and helps you feel full, aiding in weight management. But that's not all. Berries, particularly the dark, vibrant ones like blueberries and blackberries, have been linked to heart health. They can help manage and reduce blood pressure, lower cholesterol levels, and reduce oxidative stress, all of which are key to a healthy heart. With a twist. These little gems are rich in antioxidants, those powerful substances that help protect your cells from damage. Add them to your breakfast cereals, whip them up in a smoothie, or just enjoy them as they are. They're versatile, delicious, and beneficial to your health. Remember, a berry a day keeps the doctor away."
Next up, we have nuts and seeds, the perfect snack for health enthusiasts. Small but mighty, these nutrient-packed powerhouses are often overlooked, yet they pack a substantial health punch. Let's start with the protein. Nuts and seeds are a fantastic source of plant-based protein, essential for building and repairing body tissues. They provide a healthy dose of fiber too, which aids in digestion and keeps you feeling full longer. But the benefits don't stop there. Nuts and seeds are also rich in healthy fats, particularly omega-three fatty acids. These healthy fats are known to promote heart health, reduce inflammation, and even support brain function. What's more? A regular intake of these crunchy delights can significantly lower your risk of heart diseases. Studies have shown that people who consume nuts and seeds regularly have a lower risk of developing cardiovascular diseases compared to those who don't.
"Fish, a great source of Omega-3, takes the third spot on our list. Now, let's dive in to explore why this aquatic marvel is such a catch for our health. Packed to the gills with essential nutrients, fish is known for its high Omega-3 content. These fatty acids are key players in maintaining our health, but our bodies can't produce them on their own. That's where fish comes in. Eating fish can help improve heart health. Omega-3 fatty acids support cardiovascular function by reducing inflammation and lowering blood pressure. They also help decrease triglycerides, slow the development of plaque in the arteries, and even reduce the chance of abnormal heart rhythm. But the benefits don't stop there. Omega-3s are also known to promote brain health. They aid in cognitive function, potentially reducing the risk of Alzheimer's disease and dementia.
"Coming in at number four, green tea, a beverage that's more than just a warm drink. Green tea, revered for centuries in cultures around the globe, is a powerhouse of wellness. Packed to the brim with antioxidants, it's a defender against harmful free radicals that can wreak havoc on your body's cells. It's also known for its potential to kick-start your metabolism. That's right, sipping on this emerald elixir could help your body burn calories more efficiently.
"Last but not least, avocados, a true superfood. Packed with a plethora of nutrients, avocados are a standout in the realm of healthy foods. They are brimming with monounsaturated fats, the good kind of fats, that can help lower bad cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of heart disease. But that's not all. Avocados also boast a high fiber content, making them a great ally in promoting healthy digestion. They can help maintain a balanced gut, keeping you feeling full and satisfied. Furthermore, avocados are rich in vitamins like K, C, E, and various B-vitamins, contributing to your overall wellbeing.

Will this split take a queen that's just dropped in?
Переглядів 1663 роки тому
I found a hive that was just about to or did swarm. It had three virgin Queens walking the frames. So we made 5 splits. this one I just released the queen to see what would happen since there wasn't very many bees. I would not try this with a very strong split. I will add more emerging brood and bees to this split when the queen starts laying.

      @AndreLeandro139 take a mated queen, put her in the cage over emerging brood. Those bees will accept her and she can start laying without being harassed by the colony. Once she's laying, she will be accepted by the colony unless she's just a bad queen.

      I wouldn't expect them to draw out much wax while open feeding. They will, but direct feeding the hives you specifically need to feed will always bring better results more cost effectively.

    Hey, thanks for the reply! When I make my splits I use two frames of mature capped brood and two frames of bees, then move all the splits to a new location and reduce the entrances down to about a 4 bee width or 3/4 hole...and I move them out by themselves not into any yard with full strength colonies...give them a queen and don't disturb them for a week while the queens are accepted and begin to lay...with this method I never have any robbing or dwindling...I don't want to go to the work of making splits and having them dwindle or get robbed out. Thanks for making the videos.

  • @denniswood231
    @denniswood231 3 роки тому

    As well how the heck are weak colonies like that going to draw foundation, you would be way better off when they are that weak to give them drawn comb...they will be forever and a day developing from that.

    • @thehoneybeegarden3149
      @thehoneybeegarden3149 3 роки тому

      As I said in the video, I usually add drawn comb. I was out. In my neck of the woods, 2-3 solid frames of bees and brood is not that weak of a split. I had a few hives that the bees didn’t stay, that was the point of the video. All of those colonies except 4 went into winter in double deep 8’s. Thanks for watching and your comments, they’re much appreciated.

    How many hours do you work with the bees a day?

    • @thehoneybeegarden3149
      @thehoneybeegarden3149 4 роки тому

      Depends on what time of year it is. During queen rearing and making nucs, I could probably work a full day several days per week. I've never really kept up with how long I'm in the yard. It doesn't take near as long as many people online claim they spend in the hives. My problem is, I also have a HVAC business. That season picks up dramatically as bee season is in full swing. I try to work late evenings and weekends to keep up. Once I stop making Queens, I spend 4-8 hours per week in the bee yard cleaning, storing unused equipment, and doing whatever else needs to be done. Really depends on what your trying to do. I try and sell a couple hundred nucs, and couple hundred Queens. It doesn't take that much time once you've got a system in place. But the system I use is very time sensitive. You have to be in the bee yard certain days to harvest Queens and place cells/virgin queens, do your grafts. I hope this answers your question.

    Being a Northern Beekeeper, I need to limit the amount of packaged bees by the season. Typically I would be buying from southern keepers about now for delivery in late April, early may. Naturally, season dependent. I'm going to be setting swarm traps again this spring and anticipate the sale of those bees more likely as nucs. Great video on the possibilities. I really appreciate the straightforward approach to the question with an honest answer. Anyone who has kept bees for more than one season knows, there are no lazy beekeepers. 😉
