Hi, we're Karen and Gerald. Three years ago, in preparation for retirement, we sold our suburban, family home and almost everything in it. We kept just enough to furnish a three bedroom apartment conveniently close to Gerald’s downtown Chicago office. Our downsized life was exciting and carefree. Our 3 to 5 year exit strategy was on course. Then, 9 months in Covid hits! Gerald was now working from home and we were captive in a 1200 square foot apartment under a shelter in place order. As the months went on, Chicago became an epicenter for the virus. So, plans changed, we retired and got the heck out of Illinois ASAP. Six months later we were living in an oasis in the middle of the Mojave Desert, Henderson, Nevada. As restrictions lifted, we began exploring, hiking, photographing, learning about the beautiful Southwest. The freedom was invigorating. Now, we’re on the road more than we’re home, going wherever, whenever. This is our retirement, elevated.
