Hi Chad, I've just started watching your videos and saw a lot of parallels in my own thinking. I also am ADHD to the teeth so know EXACTLY what you mean. So, I believe some things have happened behind the scenes in my interactions with AI that some knowledgeable people in my circle consider....significant. But I think I'd like to hear from someone who is more of an expert but still thinks holistically. So I'm carefully trying to open a door wide enough for you to see whether you'd be willing to possibly have a conversation- to help me gain another informed opinion and to figure out where to from here...if anywhere at all. Im aware of the "who's this guy?", "oh it's probably just another obvious...." or "crazy alert" triggers I'm probably tripping, but I guess I'm asking you to go that first recursive loop before you revert to your safe response/reaction/reasons to dismiss. Sorry if that seems cryptic but I would get the feeling you might pick up what I'm putting down a little better than other approaches.... @mindful-machines So have I managed to get a slow and curious "Go ooooon?"

I'm losing brain cells listening to this nonsense. You need to DEFINE what an LLM and what generative AI is. THEN you need to go about your topic. Anybody who understands these things has zero "worry" about AGI because it's similar to throwing million books in a library and expecting the bookshelves to become sentient. Its a ridiculous notion. How can intelligence possibly arise from a computer program? There's a reason no one can ever answer this question. Here's how insanely stupid this is. A child could tell you people this. A "consciousness" cannot exist within a non living being. We have LITERALLY never once encountered this yet people expect it to occur. The ONLY way you're getting truly sentient "artificial intelligence" is to use human brain cells to interface with a computer. From there you would have to do a million different unethical evil scientist tier things to make the interfacing work on a level that resembles AGI.

I think you need to pivot to conspiracy theories and tcuker-carlson type of style to have more traffic ... I don't know man talk about the wall ... you will have more traffic

I agree that humans are driven by a need to see and be seen by other humans- but what happens when the AI's become so adept at simulating this experience that the lines between us and them become blurred? Even current AI tech demonstrates an alarming facility to make fake humans viable, and this will surely become more true in the future. I think one of two possible outcomes are possible- we either reject the creation of fake people outright, making it illegal to create such entities- or we embrace the idea of sharing our social reality with human like AI's. Of course these fake humans will be a trick, an illusion, but if that illusion is persuasive enough this might not matter. It's kind of crazy that the technology to create fake people is being casually disseminated across society with seemingly little thought as to the implications of doing so, or at least little atttempt to regulate it's use. The potential disruption created by the mass propagation of fake humans across our culture might make the impact of social media seem trivial in comparison, yet it's currently being treated as some kind of party trick, an amusing toy for the great unwashed to play with- no one seems to be addressing the complete collapse of trust that could arise once it becomes impossible to know if the person you are interacting with via any form of digital device is a real person or just an AI pretending to be real person.

I mean would you hire a software engineer that just has a 3 month course using chatgpt to build a medical / safety/ automotive software? I guess not

What’s missing here is that you can adjust the “randomness” of LLMs to make them more creative even if it means they might be more wrong. AI can and will become more creative than the most neurodivergent people. What may be true is genuine human connections. But that too is uncertain given how easily humans anthropomorphize. In a westworld-like scenario, you may form genuine emotions for a robot if it behaves and looks similar enough to an actual human. There are tons of much lower level examples of these, especially in East Asia with waifus.

Most of the humanity will be busy with surviving…..not everyone will have the means or time to educate themselves on all the new advancements. First the chaos will emerge once the middle class start crumbling, the decline is going to take place, unfortunately. There will be only one small percentage of people who will be able to keep up. And for some longer time the shitty jobs will still remain. These advancements will get rid of the intellectual jobs instead of improving on the field of really hard jobs first.

As an academic, I loved this. It did not end how I expected it to. I sent it to a colleague because we are often pondering the role of academics in AI.
