For me Ann Hallenbergs rendition of this aria is the bench mark ; but this performance comes darn close - possibly even equals it! I dare say if the recording was better wthout the audience coughing & spluttering in the background , it may even have been slightly better!! 👍👏

this is for me the most beautiful performance in the history of music.

Troyanos is still my favorite but this is amazing. I had lunch with Cecilia Bartoli in 1993 and she was lovely. I was the classical music buyer for Tower Records San Francisco in the late 80s early 90s and was so lucky. I understood and appreciated that I was lucky then but I get it more as years go by. I had lunch with Leontyne Price! I had dinner with Dmitri Hvorostovsky! I met Gwyneth Jones and Mirella Freni and Nikolai Gedda. I was allowed backstage at the SF Opera by Lotfi Mansouri. Opera is magical and I'm happy I learned about it when I was a youngster. It's completely changed my life.

Yes, I also like the Jaroussky rendition but have trouble imagining him on stage as Ariodante. Peu importe- he has an amazing voice and talent for phrasing
