Journey to create a Solarpunk future. Pun(k)s welcome.
Starting with a critical issue: Lawn Care. What’s more resource consuming than having a non-native, mono-culture lawn complete with synthetic fertilizer, pesticides, over-watering, and all maintained by polluting lawn equipment. My first move is to face the problem head on by creating a solar powered electric lawn care service. As I build trust with my clients (reducing pollution along the way) I offer them better solutions: native landscaping, native lawn alternatives, organic fertilizer, energy efficiency... a solarpunk future.

Temgot Or Vatrer For Your Golf Cart?
I open up both batteries and deep dive into how these are constructed and discover why one might be cheaper than the other despite all appearances of it being identical.
I really enjoyed comparing these two 105ah 48V 16 cell LiFePO4 Golf Cart batteries and kits side by side and learning some of the construction practices used to make them, including the flexible printed circuit assembly for the Vatrer which likely reduces the manufacturing time and cost. What did you guys think?

Merging my other UA-cam channel with this one to bring you more content (and give me less of a headache). On a whim I decided to buy a 1964 GMC New Look Transit bus, also called a 'Fishbowl' to turn into a space and sci-fi themed coffee shop called Delta V Coffee. This is the story of my Uncle and I driving across the state of Florida to rescue it and all the difficulties we experienced along t...

Power a Welder From a Solar Trailer? Fixing My EGO Zero Turn Mower
Переглядів 6 тис.10 місяців тому
I power a welder with my solar powered lawn care trailer to fix damage on my EGO zero turn lawn mower I caused. I built my trailer using an EG4 inverter and battery, with Rich Solar panels on the roof which normally powers all my electric lawn care equipment while I run my business. This was the first time I've tried powering a welder with the trailer, wasn't sure how it was going to go but for...

Solar Powered Lawn Care Setup; Why Not Just Buy More Batteries?
It'll be cool when we could charge devices like this without AC. Just DC to charge all the appliance batteries. Someday we'll see products that can do that.
I love the build. however, i do have some questions. My understanding of electricity is everytime you convert it from dc to ac and back to dc (solar(battery) to inverter to mower battery) you lose efficiency. Is there a way to skip the inverter for charging the mower batteries?
Thank you. I'm converting a gooseneck horse trailer to my prospecting/ living quarters. Looking into a solar system to power the inside of the trailer.
That's a great install, but it looks like you can expect some trailer leaks. Lap sealant always leaks. Use marine sealant instead. Also, aluminum next to steel is going to corrode. Use rubber washers and stainless bolts to minimize the damage. I hope the new trailer turns out better.
such a sick setup brother! bro the sky at 4:54 looks so unnatural wtf is that yuck!
It would be a good idea to add a complete system shutdown switch on the outside of the trailer in case of an emergency. Maybe add the external shutdown switch inside the trailer tongue V metal frame. This way If there's ever a fire inside the trailer and the tow car is connected to the trailer, the disconnect is right there where you're disconnecting the trailer from the tow vehicle. Also add a fire extinguisher inside of both doors where it can be reached from outside after opening each door.
Not an Internet expert here, but an OG solar guy. I've been planning to upgrade my trailer for a year or so, to be used as a mobile power source as we build our straw bale cottage, and power the local farmers market. This is exactly the kind of setup I've been contemplating. Lately I've been thinking about making these for worksite trailers and food trucks. Really love your application. The e-go line of tools are fantastic! You did a great job of breaking the job down into digestible bites, and i really dig the editing! You're one clever dude! I did an EV conversion of a Rabbit 25 years ago. It was s little too far ahead of it's time. Even got a kick out of your nom du net ... Solar.pun.kit/solar.punk.it Cheers! And thanks!
What is the approximate cost for your project?
In Australia 440watts bifacial n type panel cost AU$98, so in same roof area you could fit 5 panels = 2200 watts by spending AU $500
I have the Temgot in my 2009 ezgo rxv and i love it. fits really nice.
It's nice all of your yard tools are battery operated. Here in northern CA they passed laws against gasoline powered tools as of July 2024 but it's not enforced much as I still hear and smell those things. That DBS 1400 Pro is on sale at eBay for black Friday at $479.
BiFacial panels would spank that generator
I cannot believe the Sarasota actually STILL calls their bus system called SCAT.. HEHEHE Space Coast Area Travelers SCAT...
WOW I never thought of using my nibbler to cut washers... THANK YOU!
How was getting used to Florida weather compared to Ill?
Adorable and smart!
the blend from laptop screen video to actual video was masterful. great video as usual!
I agree about the yellow, but the brown is a great coffee themed color
Also, scat is a jazz term too
Do a comparison with both mowers having the same deck size. I want to make sure greenworks is better than ego before buying.
So the greenworks battery last 3 times longer for double the price and better cut quality. Greenworks for the win! Now just need to get a larger deck.
we need more vidoes

It's important to point out that wiring the panels in series this way is in part because the EG4 inverter demands a minimum of 120VDC input. It'll accept up to 450VDC and this whole operating range is considerably higher than a lot of inverters on the market which is great because higher volts means getting away with thinner wires, though higher voltage brings its own dangers too, and demands a certain minimum number of panels to get above that threshold.
You know I'm binge watching your stuff when I say "watch out for the stump" 15ms before you do. Great content, thank you for sharing your journey. After 2 years of casually using electric to help people, I formalized my business (Ontario, Canada) last week... after listening to gas leaf blowers off in the distance for a month, while I silently did my outdoor work. The sooner we provide better options, the better!
Great video, thanks!!
How many yards a day do you cut on electric.
Did you hook up those 3 solar panels in series ?? Curious because the inputs say 12v-60v but the manual say max of 75v. Those 3 panels should put it close to 75v in series.
No I put them in parallel.
What mileage do you get with the Tesla towing that load? Are you constantly charging at super chargers?
You got u a nice piece of auto history there! That's so cool.
Thanks Andy! Was great meeting you.
This is a good video. The portable power units are a nice thing to have. Of course, there are a multitude of brands and one of the others may work better for you. As for your lawn business, investing in another EG4 battery may be a better option for the long term than relying on a portable power unit like the Dabbsson.
You should have been at the big tool event to help sponsor eco
larger battery capacity and offer pressure washing service with rechargeable washer?
Different Cables: Temgot power cable is a C14, which is rated for max 10 A Vatrer power cable is a C20 which is rated for max 16 A Which fits each charger, so they checked that.
This is such a high-quality and thorough and detailed video -- I may never need a golf cart battery in my life, but I still watched the whole video and enjoyed all of the visuals and commentary. Good work!
Thanks Mr. Ninja. Some fun stuff to come in the golf cart world 😉
Great job on the video Steve! Thanks for making it.
the aluminium was not showing heat because metals are reflective like mirrors in infra-red spectrum. That's why some people put a piece of tape on metal parts so they can see their true temperature. And also this is the reason the sticker was warm but the aluminium plate was not
Vatrer’s internal design is really precise. I’d love to test out the performance, and I’m looking forward to seeing more content bout Vatrer.
I was just about to purchase a battery like that, thank you for showing me these comparisons. I think I know which one to buy now.😀
Very objective and fair battery review video. Like your honesty
Shame on you for advertising. Low quality chinese products.
Are there high quality USA products to recommend? Thank you.
You had a promising UA-cam channel, but now you have become a sellout showcasing random brands. Wish you the best of luck.

How much did this set up cost in total equipment and all cuz I wanna start my own lawn care
All homeowner tools. Complete garbage 🗑 man . Buy some gas mowers
Do you have a link to all the build parts or a forum? Incase someone else wants to build this.
Glad to see your still doing well man. When i bought my Cybertruck it came with the Tesla Powershare package. We had it installed prior to the hurricane hitting us in Tampa, so it was nice being able to run the house off the Cybertruck... was taking the truck to the local supercharger instead of running a gas generator to charge it back up, so it got a few cycles during our power outage... curious if this could be installed in your solar trailer and instead of having battery pack in the trailer, you could use the truck for your battery storage to charge stuff.... just a thought since it is so seamless with the transfer of power switching.
Aside from needing to bond neutral and ground together (just get a bonding plug and plug it into one of the normal outlets), a TT-30 to Nema 14-50 adapter won't work, it connects both hots to the same hot on the TT-30, since the TT-30 is 120v only. You need a TT-30 pigtail for your tesla EVSE so it can get 120v. The tesla 14-50 pigtail only connects in a 240v configuration, and the TT-30 to 14-50 adapter only presents 120v to the 14-50, not 240v.

Have you ever experienced water related damage to your Ego equipment or are they pretty weather resistant?
So far I haven't had any issues with water. I'll mow/work in light rain but I don't generally use the equipment if it's pouring down (or lightning nearby) and of course the equipment lives in the trailer.
