NEPTUNE | Djent/Metalcore type beat (Erra/Invent Animate)
Thank you for the 1000 subs, that's insane! It's been a long time, I hope all is well for you guys.
I've been sitting on this track for a few years. The goal then was to write a Voyager inspired EP with tracks representing planets, hence the name Neptune.
I got a decent video montage software back so next I plan to make a video to show my gear and how I use it for the covers I do, stay tuned and take care.
Gear :
- Ibanez RGD71 ALMS-BAM
- Tuning : one of the Invent Animate tunings, it's a drop A# on 6 strings with a low F.
- Strings : D'addario NYXL1164 (7 string set), but switched the 2 lower strings for .60 and .70.
- Tone : Neural DSP Omega Granophyre with Bogren Digital IRs (Downtuned IR Pack).
- Focusrite Scarlett 2i2.
- DAW : Presonus Studio One 5.
- Canon EOS700D.

I'm back, baby. This 1:47 intro to Shokran's first album never fails to get me hyped. Took me about 6 months to play this one relatively clean, so pretty happy with myself at the moment. MOODRING | SHOW ME THE REAL YOU (guitar cover with tab)

Just discovered Moodring. This band is a total vibe and I have their latest LP Stargaze on repeat. Lowkey focusing this channel on Deftones-inspired bands, for some reason I can't get enough of it. On a side note, I recorded this cover with a camera (Canon EOS 700D) instead of my phone (so no 4k but who cares, really). There was a tiny speck of dust on the camera lens and obviously I noticed it...
THORNHILL | THE HELLFIRE CLUB (guitar cover with tab)

So... this is the opener of Thornhill's latest album Heroine. Everybody was waiting for a second The Dark Pool, but they went in a totally different direction and knocked it out of the park imo. I transcribed the track by ear and it was .. challenging. Not sure how they processed their guitar sound but they have a very warm & fuzzy tone, so that made it quite difficult to pinpoint the patterns....

INVENT ANIMATE | THE SUN SLEEPS (cover)
Just downloaded the GuitarPro tab file and it confirms that string 2 is tuned to C and not B. In your notes you state - "Tuning : DADGCE (1 octave lower than usual drop D" - whereas Drop D an octave lower is DADGBE. Which is correct? (it's only played once in your GuitarPro file so not really important).
goes so hard
Bro can I throw some vocals on this? This is sick holy shit
@@rulaz95 for sure dude, dm me on instagram let's do this
Such a sick cover dude- my fav song off of Heroine for sure. Really appreciate you tabbing it out. Just got an 8 string and will be trying this out on that
Thanks so much dude ! Hope you have fun playing it, such a vibey song
That Nic Cage mug is dope!
absolutely brilliant
why do you have only 1.1k followers man, i don't understand it
@@LowCostCovers96 dude thanks a lot, you're too kind ! Take care
that was awesome!
@@ShadowOfUs no u ! 🙏
do you have the nameless preset?
hey man, check out the video description, I've just updated it with a link to the Neural DSP Nameless preset. It is actually just the default preset with some tweaks here and there.
I really love guitar and drum tone :) Drums sound so natural. without obnoxious over compression. Absolute banger!
Dude thank you so much ! I'm still figuring things out and always think they sound weird so that means a lot to me. Take care my man, you made my day
@@KEOSOUNDS The only thing I'd say is a bit off about tone is that drums can be a bit quieter in the mix, bu tthe base foundation is legit amazing. Though to each their own :) Take care too, man!
@cyntdestroyer69xd thanks for the feedback man, I appreciate it ! I do like loud drums in mixes but I agree I overdid it a little bit here hehe
Noooooice !

Merci ! :D
Honestly thank you so much for the tab, I just covered this and couldn't have done it without you!
My pleasure, dude ! Checked your cover, nice setup with the AxeFX !
@@KEOSOUNDS Thank you !!!!
Amazing! This came to my suggestions and I don't regret clicking in and listening this! Had to put on my playlist 🤩😍 Also I love how your pugs just chill on the background calmly and relaxing 🤭💙
Thank you so much Emmi ! Very glad you liked it 🙏😊
just curious are you using the stock lens on the EOS 700d? the song sounds sick btw!!!
Hey man! I got the EOS second hand with 2 lenses but I believe I used the stock one for this video yes. And thank you very much for the kind words about my track, that means a lot ! 🙏
4:05 Name of the music of the outro?
Glad you asked, buddy ! That's an instrumental track of mine called Neptune, I did a playthrough for it on my latest video :)
Have you written anything about how you set up the subzero? I just ordered one after seeing it in one of the official play through videos! Thing was $200 I can only imagine its going to be a pain to set up!
Hey dude, you're right I did not but lots of people asked me about it. I plan to talk about it in an upcoming video about the gear I use but in the meantime, just know that I did not modify anything on it, only DI treatment with eq to make those low cable bridge sound more sharp :) Also, I did hear that some of these were coming with a few defect sometimes so you may look for that once you receive it. Hope it helps a little, take care
Dude that guitar is so sick
Thanks bro !
For some reason this sounds way lower than drop A#. Crazy how heavy it sounds
Yeah definitely, not sure who mixed it but I'm pretty sure there's some octaver or pitch shift shenanigan going on in there :D
Hey I need help on opening the file for the tabs what type of file is it. It says it doesn’t support my device?

@@KEOSOUNDS Thanks for replying and sharing this I appreciate it!!
This is my favorite song from invent animate and you just made it even better!
Hah! Glad you liked my cover, cheers!
Have this guitar and I’m still confused on how you achieve this tuning. Did you actually tune these thicc ass strings UP from e standard?? Because to achieve that tuning you would have to I think
Yes sir you're right, I did have to tune up 4 strings to achieve that. The D string up to E, the G string up to A, the B string up to D and the last e string up to F#. Given the gauge of the strings it was a bit hard to tune up but not impossible. In the future I'm thinking about getting a lighter string gauge for this bad boi, just to check if it plays more comfortable. Anyway, hope it helped
okay thanks. yeh i ain't tuning these things up haha lighter strings or figure out another way for me. thanks again@@KEOSOUNDS
Did you have any problem setting up your focusrite interface? Do you track with direct monitoring? I'm trying to play into my focusrite and have the output go from a standalone (bias/JSTtones) to my speakers and I can't get my latency under 4.1ms? Stuff online is saying to use direct monitoring to send the signal back to the interface and then to the speakers, but does that mean I won't hear the effects I'm using in the standalone? I'm wondering if playing through a DAW can offset the issues, but can't figure it out
Hey man, I did not have any issues setting up my focusrite, although you can check the standalone amp sim input settings. That's where I optimized my latency. And I track without direct monitoring, sort of. What I usually do is that I track directly in my DAW without monitoring, but I still have my standalone neural dsp on the side so that I can hear what I play.
Killer job my dude.. might be able to tackle this one myself eventually! Thanks for the awesome work
Thanks man ! Hope you'll have fun playing it, especially that spicy riffy part :)
Oh I definitely will! Keep shreddin my dude@@KEOSOUNDS
I have that guitar, it is such a beast
Definitely ! The Fishman Fluence pickups sound super good
What strings do you use? At an entire octave lower I’m sure normal gauge is way too floppy
Hey man, sorry for the late reply ! I was still using the stock strings that came with the guitar, I believe this is a .24 - .84 set and it plays pretty well for that string size (it kind of feels like playing a bass)
One of the best riffs I’ve heard in years…
This album is full of banging riffs, it's insane
Hi mate. Have you already experimented with thinner strings? If so, could you please tell me which strings do you use and for which tuning?
Hey buddy, I do want to experiment thinner strings, with this same drop D0 tuning ! The stock ones that I still use are a bit too thick for my taste. I'm still looking for a suitable set ; I'll let you know my thoughts after I test a few !
@@KEOSOUNDS that would be great. Right now I ordered 13-76 Ernie Ball baritone set and 6th string was not long enough to reach the tuned. I ordered D’Addario NYXL 080 string separately to try it out.
Sounds like if Loathe plays summoning
Thanks dude !

I would die for breakdown pug. 10/10 cover 🔥
Thanks my dude ! Jabba the pug says hi
I'm about to buy this guitar and that is the same tunning I use in my band, this also would be my first multi scale guitar and was having the issue about choosing the right string gauge. I usually use .10 to .74/.80 but now after watching your video im thinking the best string gauge would be something like .11 to .68
Good choice man, I love that guitar ! For that low F# I would not go higher than a .70 string gauge, multiscale helps. What's your band ? Would love to hear your tunes
the dog 😂😂 Loved the cover dude!
Thanks mate ! Take care :)
Great tone. How did you set your amp and which Bogren Downtuned IR did you use?
Hey dude, thanks a lot ! You'll find every detail about that particular tone from the link in description ;) From what I saw there, I used the 1st IR (bongerballen) and the one called doomsauce ! And the Neural DSP Nameless tone preset is in the li k as well. Hope it helps!
Nice cover and nasty tone bro! Do you have a link for this preset by chance?
Thanks a ton for the kind words, mate! You can get the preset link from the description of my cover of As If It Never Was, I'm 99% sure that I used the same tone for both songs.
Swag
What tuning?
Yo, drop D one octave below the regular drop D !
@@KEOSOUNDS wait drop C#?
@@SagingJuanillo Nope, basically drop D. What I mean by an octave below is that it is 12 semitones lower than the regular drop D. That's why it's better to do this on a guitar with a long ass neck (it's almost a bass, at that point). Not sure if it's clear enough lol
Awesome! Sounds great! Is that like a Fender Jazzmaster, the one with a 30 inch neck? Or am i very far off hahahha
Hey dude, thanks ! You're correct, it's a subzero baritone, with a 30'' scale length and big boi strings :)
@@KEOSOUNDS Awesome man is the guitar good? I have no experience with Sub Zero guitars, i only know of the Fender one and the Harley Benton one
@koolin3613 I had low expectations because of its price but with a decent setup it can sound good
This is beyond gnarly dude, I myself am about to pick up one of those or possibly a baritone tele. I know this may sound like a dumb question, but I’m only just starting to get into using an actual interface and amp-sims and all that stuff. What software did you use for this? So plug-ins are software you buy and apply to your chosen recording platform? Any other tips/tricks regarding that stuff would be much appreciated, I feel like I’m in over my head lol.
Hey man thanks ! Hey, there is no dumb question if you learn something :) The DAW I use is Studio One 5, the guitar tone is from Neural DSP Nameless (sounds great right out of the box) and I do apply other plugins for equalization, compression, etc. And also it is very important to double track the guitar parts and pan them left and right. As the channel gets close to 1k subs I plan to do a video to explain how I build my tones, basically. Stay tuned my dude and take care !
@@KEOSOUNDS awesome dude thank you so much!
