    Would love more details about the drying process. The Zep worked wonders after 15 minutes in each housing. However, even after rinsing with distilled water, the hair dryer is NOT drying the housing. I’ve had a hair dryer on it in 15 minute increments for 90 minutes and even though the distilled water prevented water spots, I still have a puddle of water inside the housing. I’m struggling to understand how this step took you 15 minutes?

      If you have to, push a lint-free rag down there with a plastic kitchen utensil to soak up the remaining puddles. You should only have a few drops of water left in the light housing when you go to the blow dryer.

    7500 mile oil change intervals are completely crazy, will definitely sludge up your motor over time. Having owned and maintained my own vehicles for many decades, as I had worked as a professional auto mechanic for many years back in the day, I would agree wholeheartedly with this guy to use pure synthetic oil (my preference is Castrol Syntec, as it is more readily available at local big box stores, along with the Fram Synthetic Oil filter). I always do the first oil change at 2500 miles and use petroleum oil, then switch to pure synthetic at 5K miles, and then every 5K miles which is now really easy to keep track of (10k, 15K, 20K, etc.). Only correction I would note is to just loosen but not remove the rear two bolts for the large pan, as it is designed to slid off of and back on to those two rear bolts (notice the slots in the rear of the pan), that will make the job just a bit easier. Also, I would reinstall the bolts by hand and then be sure to adjust the torque setting on the driver when tightening the bolts, although I always do a final tightening by hand rather than rely on a tool that might under or over tighten the bolts.

    I’ve heard numerous automotive engineers stating the recommended intervals are for warranty and a minimum. They all state if you want it to last change oil more frequently. In fact, at one dealership I worked at I seen a customer get a new engine despite being out of warranty simply because they did just that, changed their oil more often than recommended. I have a Maverick too and change oil every 4k, starting at 1k with full synthetic Pennzoil Platinum.

    Let us know when your truck stops beading water with that 5 year Ceramic coating. I had the same thing done to my Wifes CX30 (5 years ceramic) and it stopped beading after 1 year. I am thinking 5 year is BS

    • @themaverickhntr
      @themaverickhntr Місяць тому

      The longevity of a ceramic coating has a ton to do with how well you maintain it. You can't just coat a vehicle and think of it as a magic bullet. You have to do regulsr maintenance washes and then applying a quality detail spray after washing hrlps a lot. I can say that my truck still beads water as well as the day it was coated. When it doesn't bead as well I know it's time for a wash and then the beading comes back instantly.

    I have a question. I decided to buy eibach springs after i saw your video and had them installed. Im having an issue though. After the install, i noticed i pretty much lost all of my downward travel in my shock. Going over a speed bump at 20-25mph, i hear a loud bang when the suspension is coming downward. I can only assume that the noise im hearing is the shock bottoming out. Do you have this issue? I seem to only have an inch and a half to 2 inches of downward travel after the install. How did you combat this if you did not also replace the strut with a longer shock?

    • @themaverickhntr
      @themaverickhntr 3 місяці тому

      If you drive quickly over an open space like a big pothole or a speed bump where your tire is going to momentarily come off the ground you'll hear this sound. I don't think it's a strut issue. I think it's the springs rapidly expanding due to the fact the tire has left the ground allowing the spring to decompress because the weight of the truck just came off it. I have found I can eliminate the issue 90-plus percent of the time by just slowing down and not being hard on the accelerator over such obstacles. It's much worse if you are actively accelerating when it happens. Although the sound is annoying I don't believe it's causing any actual problems.
