Here’s a quick demo of how one can use the DM48X Harmonica and Pete Prodoehl’s MIDI controller to perform live with various horn sounds and a backing track, using an iPad and the AUM app. The horn sounds are SWAM by Audiomodeling. Hope ya dig it!

The video is done in Lumafusion, also on my iPad. My wife insisted I sing a verse on this tune, mainly because I’ve been singing it in the kitchen for days while working on it. Just a taste of some of the wild and wacky sounds one can make using only a DM48X and an iPad Pro M1. The visuals are generated with an app called “Visual Synthesizer” and are also produced with the DM48X. Wow! What a blast! I was the opener to the show at “The Grape”, an awesome Music Club in Ventura, California. It featured an amazing array of KILLER blues harp players that included Mitch Kashmar, RJ Mischo, Flattop Tom, Daryl Carriere, And Frank Cisco Hinojosa. Incredible! Everybody had a great time, and played their Asses off!

I'm a trombone player and was looking at learning harmonica. I also own the SWAM instruments AND was looking for a way to learn harmonica without annoying my neighbors. You have ticked all the boxes. I might have to pick up both of these devices and maybe take some lessons! Thanks!

@@steffanjansenvanvuuren3257 ah yes, young grasshopper, I have the solution: If you are a harmonica player, and you desire to sound like a harmonica, play a harmonica. If you are a harmonica player, but desire to sound like anything else, (trumpets, drums, guitars, organ, piano, violin, etc) play the DM48X.
Great playing and sounds - you are a one man band. I am curious, is this instrument something anyone could play, or are some of the musical moves only accessible to someone who already knows how to play a diatonic or chromatic harmonica? By the way, I was just checking out aerophones, and from the examples I heard, they don't produce the same quality of sounds as this.
thats because he is using a sample library a VST, those are not the sounds made by the instrument, but more of a remote control

Do you think this is better than a standed harmonica ?
No, apples and oranges. I love the harmonica, and the DM48X doesn’t do harmonica sounds very well. I play both in concerts. But it does open up a world of exciting new options, much like synthesizers opened up new sounds for piano players. If you need a harmonica sound, reach for your harmonica. Everything else, (horns, drums, bass, moogs etc) you can now use the DM48X to spice up a record or concert.

The results are outstanding as a controller. And you sir sound incredible with it. It's just a shame that it's so huge. On stage at a show I just don't think I could pull it off.
My setup now is simply an iPad on a mic stand, a shelf to place the DM48 and a chromatic, with a goosneck mic attachment. As a lifetime bass player this is the easiest rig I’ve ever had! I use a Roland Cube EX amp even in larger clubs, it has a number of direct outs, and works as a monitor when I’m going through the P.A.and is easily carried by hand.

My favorite question….drum roll please! To sound EXACTLY like a tremelo or chromatic harmonica, simply play a tremelo or chromatic harmonica! Which is exactly what I do! It’s so easy! But if I want to sound like a piano, or a Moog synthesizer The DM48X is my best option.
