2:49 whats the fix for this?
Just tap it back out from the top and start over making sure it stays centered. I just used a long screw driver and a hammer.
Great video. I appreciate your uplifting messages!
Thank you for the kind words! It means a lot to me 😊 God bless you 🙏
Great build
Thank you so much for your excellent custom build videos. I watched all of them. I realize you used the TSDZ8 in s previous build, but then installed the TSDZ2B in newer builds. Having experience in both, do you prefer the TSDZ2B over the TSDZ8 or what was the reason? I am thinking of upgrading my hybrid gravel bike with a torque sensor mid-drive motor and seeking guidance which motor to pick. I would think the TSDZ2B is sufficient for me in terms of power, but i am reading that it has more problems with heat management and durability of components. I am planning of using the bike mostly on streets, gravel and minimal off-road. Thank you!
Thank you for the kind words and I appreciate you watching my videos! I’ll try my best to answer your question. I actually prefer the sensitivity of the torque sensor on the TSDZ2B with open source software tuned for my style of riding. I makes riding very natural and enjoyable. The TSDZ8 on the other hand is enjoyable to ride and has a stronger pull but less sensitive torque sensor. I have ridden my Z8 in the snow recently and had a blast, the more powerful motor was perfect for riding in the snow and didn’t feel underpowered. The Z8 is more robust and there’s talk of the company opening up the software to the open source treatment….. fingers crossed!! I have around 1000 miles on one of my 2B motors and it’s been great no problems, but it gets warmer than the Z8 motor. Most of my riding is rolling hills and flat surfaces. They are honestly both fun in their own way. I prefer the 2B OSF on my Ozark Trail g1 explorer. I will have more videos coming as I have time. Btw there’s possibly another motor coming from Tongsheng sometime in the future, I saw a post on Facebook recently but no details yet. Thanks again for watching my videos:)
Thank you Michael for taking the time explaining. The fine tuning of the open source software is for sure a nice 2B benefit. I wish you all the best with any future projects!
pakai ban maxxis tipe apa dan ukuran berapa om?
The tires I use are the Maxxis hookworm 29 x 2.5 inches wide. Sorry about the other link I posted, it doesn’t seem to work.
Just got one of these bikes as a Christmas gift and am looking to do the same E-bike conversion! would love to see how you did it.
Maybe you know - Tsdz2b supports shift-sensor? Thanks
Good question! There is no lead from the controller for a shift sensor on the TSDZ2B. I have built a few of these and never thought I would need a shift sensor. The TSDZ8 on the other hand has a lead for the sensor and it definitely helps smooth out the shifting.
@MRJohnson01 thanx! I wanted to buy Bafang.. but in the end i am buying Tongsheng)
Torque sensor makes you want to use motor even on flats during long hilly rides (17%, 50 milea) compared to high rpm throttle in granny gear to reduce strain on the chain. Torque sensors are good for technical offroad riding to increase traction control on ice.
Wondering, if this motor would be good to run as a single speed.🤔
I haven’t tried it, but that’s definitely something that I could see working 🤔
In a post that discusses Bafang mid drive, the poster said to use your gears to lighten the motor load, they will last longer.
can you share a parts list/ links?

@@MRJohnson01 Awesome! Thank you!
I've seen people installing internal cable routing headsets on these bikes. That's an idea for a video !
That is a great idea for a video!
Wow looks great, ive been looking at this bike and might try to do the same type of conversion.
I’d definitely recommend it! It was a very easy conversion! Chainline is great and no need for a shift sensor 😎
Looks like a Honda Grom !
Totally agree 👍

Thanks for watching!
Accidently ran across your channel searching for TSDZ8 reviews. Great job, you covered just about everything I needed to know. I too enjoy building ebikes and am thinking about using a TSDZ8 for my next build. I tend to use budget mountain bikes for my builds, I've built Schwinn Axum/BBSO2B, Ozark Trail Ridge/TSDZ2, Gravity Trail HD/TSDZ2b, and a Gravity Bullseye Monster/BBSO2B. While I always use a shift sensor for the Bafang builds, I never put one on a TongSheng due to them being torque sensed. What are your thoughts on that?
Thanks for the question! I have used shift sensors on my BBS builds as they have a lead for the sensor and it definitely smooths out the shifts. The TSDZ2B builds I have done have not required a shift sensor and don’t have a wire lead for it. I can definitely say there’s a difference with the TSDZ8 motor and it has a lead from the controller for the shift sensor. I have run it with and without the sensor plugged in and much prefer it with the sensor working. The shift sensor is the same one that Bafang bbs motors use. Hope this helps! Reach out if you have any other questions.
Man, that’s a sweet little thing. I totally should not take my tong sheng that I impulse ordered and stick it on this
Ive got the same setup, more or less. About to attempt the OSF flash. But man am I nervous 😂
I was nervous at first, but it gets easier once you learn how and do a few. Luke Lorusso has some good videos about flashing the OSF (emmebrusa)
Enjoying your videos. From Conneaut Lake, looks like we ride a lot of the same trails. Putting together a TSDZ8/EKD01 build. With the battery you used on this build, how much power would you use going around Wilhelm without pedaling? Would the fully charged battery do the job? Thinking about a UPP battery, which website do you order from?
Thank you for watching my videos! We are blessed to live in a beautiful place with lots of places to ride and enjoy 😊 We ride around Wilhelm a lot!! We live about 5 minutes away! I have never used throttle only when riding around the lake. I believe it would make it, but not sure 🤔 The TSDZ8 is a torque sensor motor and the throttle is more less an on/off switch. The BBS Bafang motors are much better for that purpose as they have a much better throttle function. I typically get my batteries from UPP on Amazon. The video of the Taz 3 has a g56 battery from AliExpress which is 14 ah. This is a slimmer battery to fit in that frame. I appreciate your interest! I’ll have more videos coming up as I get time 🤓
very cool!
nice bro tryna do the same

Nice video. Cool upgrades. Looks like you had some fun
Thanks for your comment! I always have fun putting these bikes together 🤓
Currently doing the same thing but to my OZ ridge mtb but maybe she'll need a friend lol this looks like I want one too. Gonna slap a silly bike trailer on and drag mine little kayak to the inlet. getting through the lights in Fl is a nightmare without a little assist.
Sounds like a great idea! I need to do a Ridge conversion 🤓
According to a few forums I’ve read the conversion won’t work on a Ridge. Chaining is all wrong…
how did you remove the pedals?
there is a specific tool: square tapered bottom bracket tool. there is a bolt you undue and screw in the tool. gives you mechanical leverage to get it off. can't do it without the tool and they are cheep
Top speed throttle ? And when peddle assist?
Around 28-30 mph for both. Could be higher with a gearing change.
Nice bike did you convert it yourself ?
I do all my own work!
@@MRJohnson01 how much for this exact build ?
The software for the tsdz2b isn't being developed anymore. Also what I have seen in the stores the latest versions all have a newer ESC, meaning OBF software can't be flashed onto it. Anyways thanks for the video
Finally mid drive wallmart racing maniacal laugh 😊
Nice bike, what is the firmware, is it Daniel Nilsson's 1.4 firmware? Also, I don't see brake sensors, so I guess you just stop pedaling to stop the motor? And you're not using a throttle? Thanks for the video!
Hello, Yes, Daniel’s 1.4 firmware. I don’t use brake cut offs. The bike is equipped with a throttle. I have it set to stop as soon as I stop pedaling. I appreciate you watching my video!! Trying to get more out as I get time.
Are you still satisfied with the motor? I currently have installed BBS02 from Bafang, but I'm thinking about switching to TSDZ8. I read online that people have problems with left crank arm becomes lose. Do you also have that problem? any other problems?
Hello, I haven’t had any problems with my TSDZ8. The crank arm needed tightened once after I installed it. The latest software update has been better. Being a torque sensor motor I think you would like it. I wouldn’t be afraid to check out the TOSEVEN motors as well.
this for 410 or a bbs02 for 340 for first build?
Thanks for the question! I favor a torque sensor motor. With the BBS02b motor you have cadence sensing. The Bafang motor has a ton of aftermarket support and parts if needed. The BBS02 is very reliable and you will enjoy it for your first build. I would also consider the TSDZ2B with OSF. I currently have 2 of them and they are fun and very natural feeling. If you do the research you can buy a 48 volt TSDZ2B and install the OSF with your PC. There is so many options out there! For raw power and reliability you could go with the BBSHD. Honestly overall right now the TSDZ2B with OSF is my go to motor. It’s a fun to ride and lightweight torque sensor motor and there’s good parts availability. If they get the programming right and make parts available for the TSDZ8 then I would definitely recommend it.
Hello, Can I use your video in my website ?
Hello Jason, I don’t mind you using my video for your website. I just don’t want to get into trouble with UA-cam for the music.
I really appreciate you taking the time to do this. I am just about to build my own motobcane with this exact motor. I think you confirmed exactly what I was wondering. Please keep us posted on any longevity issues. Thanks again!
Thank you for your kind words! I really appreciate you taking the time to comment. I love the hobby and will have more videos in the future.
Stronger than Bosch cx?
I don’t have any experience with the Bosch CX but I think this TSDZ8 would be much more powerful! Mine is paired with a 52 volt battery. Based on what I have heard about the CX is that it might be better for Offroad technical trails.
@@MRJohnson01 Bosch cx have about 840w on peak, but what separates it from others is how much power it gives the rider at high cadence,so in practice its difficult to beat a Bosch cx uphill with the Bafang bbs 02
@@wrosslandwr8032just use the throttle on the bbs.
I would say with a 52 volt battery the TSDZ8 would annihilate the Bosch CX. It would peak over 1000 watts when pushed. I’m sure the CX would have a better torque sensor and be more sensitive. I own the Bbs02b and the TSDZ8. The TSDZ8 is much stronger at climbing hills than the Bbs02.
@@MRJohnson01 is tsdz8 stronger than bbs02 at the same power?does both motor have same amper controller and same voltage?is there any difference when it comes to overheating between theese two motors?
Toseven DM02? It would be great to see comparison between TSDZ2B/8 and DM02.
I’d like to do that comparison! I don’t currently own that motor.
Great video Michael, I have a bbso2b 750w at present but looking for a motor with a torque sensor , just wondering if you know the power settings of the 1-5? eg. Level 5 is 400% like on most factory E mtb’s? And the software is that like on the Bafang motors, I’ve programmed my 750w with the cable but I’ve read somewhere that it doesn’t work with the tong motors? Not that I’d bother as with the torque sensor I don’t think it will be necessary to fine tune the power levels.
Thank you for the kind words! I’m not sure the percentages of power for each of the 5 levels. I pretty much leave it on level 5 and it doesn’t draw much power until I start pushing hard. It reminds me of a BBS02B if it came with a torque sensor. The first two levels are nearly useless, 3 through 5 are progressively more powerful. Currently there isn’t an easy way to program the software like the Bafang Configuration tool. It’s my opinion that they will develop a way to update the software and add in tuning options. All that said, I’m glad I bought the motor and I’m looking forward to seeing what the future holds for programming.
Great video , fitted my DZ8 about a month ago , I'm always on level 5 , got the EKD01 display with mine , what a great upgrade from the TSD2Bb , great torque and smooth and quiet , very haply ,has great pull
Thanks! Totally agree!! Really enjoying mine too. I’m looking forward to building another bike with the same motor 😎
I fitted mine to my gravel/commuting bike two weeks ago. It is a huge improvement over my previous TSDZ2. My only issue is the delay in the motor responding to me stopping pedalling. It has made for some "interesting" moments when entering corners.. .
I agree! I love the motor compared with my Tsdz2b OSF. There’s definitely an overrun I had to get used to 😁
thanks for the review 👍 i might buy this motor soon, did you find out how to update this motor software?
Thanks for watching! No, I haven’t been able to update the software yet. I’m sure someone will figure it out soon 😉
thank you, nice review
Glad you liked it!
did you have to program the display to work with tsdz8? Or it was a ready kit?
The display came with the motor and was already working properly.
@@MRJohnson01 nice, where did you buy it? For me I see only available option is pswpower, found some on ebay but they do not ship to Norway :(
Is the tsdz8 quieter than the tsdz2 because I find the tsdz2 very noisy.
@@MRJohnson01 Thanks for your video. Question: Is that an EKD01 display you have - i.e., the display that came with the tsdz8 motor? Could you please share the name and model # of the display? thanks!
@@terragady Sorry for the late response! I bought it on AliExpress. The store I got it from is out of stock currently I believe. Mine was around $400USD.
do long range/distance test ;) (without throttle, on 1st level assist) regards... ;)
Lol, I could probably ride across the United States 😁
@@MRJohnson01 do it ;) ;) regards from Poland ;)
Which one is better TSDZ8 or Bafang BBS02?
I prefer the torque sensing of the TSDZ8. You get the power of the Bbs02 but with the fun of the torque sensor!
Waiting on mine, going on a recumbent cruiser with 20" wheels and rim brakes :D It's geared so I won't be going much past 20mph before the assist RPM maxes out, so I probably won't need better brakes for a while. Might do a conversion later.
What display did you get ?
I got the EKD01 Bluetooth display. It works fine but can’t change the wheel size from 26inch to 29 inch for some reason. Hopefully they will release a software update.
Just ordered mine off ali express but have cancelled the order because of bad seller reviews , so when refund comes back ill order from somewhere else , but want the kit with the ekdo1 display , bet the power is a lot more than the TSDZ2B
I have 2 TSDZ2B motors that are running OSF and this motor is much more powerful than they are. It’s like a Bbs02b if it was torque sensing. I’m hoping for OSF for this TSDZ8. That said, the TSDZ2B motors are very responsive and take less time to activate.
How heavy is that?
I never weighed it with the Bbs02b. I have since installed a Tsdz2b torque sensor motor and it weighs close to 53 pounds currently. You can add a few pounds for the Bafang motor.
Do you have any instructional videos on how to convert the bike?
