Check out the LumenPnP: www.opulo.io/products/lumenpnp This is the test calibration board that comes with the LumenPnP being populated with 0402 resistors from a LumenPnP feeder. The board is designed for 0603 components, but 0402 parts can still be used for testing. LumenPnP Info: - Supports down to 0402 components and ICs with down to 0.4mm pitch - Between 800-1200 CPH depending on configurat...

LumenPnP v3.1 - Full Job
Переглядів 6 тис.6 місяців тому
opulo.io First, the machine performs a fiducial check. The top camera makes quick backlash-compensation movements to get incredibly precise positioning on the panel's fiducials. Then, the LumenPnP feeders feed parts, and the dual-nozzle head picks them. The machine then performs bottom vision calibration to get a rotational and translational offset, then takes that into consideration when placi...

These are awesome, so nice especially if standard assembly services don’t have the parts you want
Could you please develop on which tool/method you personally recommend to use for the solder paste deposition right before that PNP operation ? Do you do it with common solder paste through a stencil with something like a solder paste printer (If so, do I need to first apply the solder paste, heat it, then cool it, so that each footprint have solid solder on them, then position the SMD component with the PNP, then reheat to bind the solder to the components ? Or can I PNP on the solder paste directly ?)
First, solder paste is squeegeed on the board with a stencil. Then it's mounted on the LumenPnP and all the parts are populated into the paste. Lastly, the board is put in a reflow oven where the paste heats up and solidifies, connecting the parts to the board. We have a blog post about the equipment we recommend for the process!: www.opulo.io/blogs/articles/setting-up-a-mid-scale-smt-line
@@opulo Thanks a lot ! 🙏
Almost as fast as me by hand! 😏 But seriously, awesome tech, Stephen & Co. Makes me think we could make a small fortune developing and selling a silent vacuum pump 🤔
Impressive! I remember people saying on the discord that 0402 was difficult with the stock nozzle. Has there been some changes hardware/software wise that have enabled this to be more reliable? 0402 is essential for my use case 😅
Yes, we're always making lots of firmware, configuration, and hardware changes! The v1.0.3 release of the feeder firmware in particular was a tremendous improvement.
I stick to 0603 as the minimum size (if forced past 0805) but great too see the LumenPNP can snatch up those evil little grains of 0402 dust.
Very nice, i am a happy LumenPnP owner, can you provide the vision pipeline used in this demo ?
Yes! For each type of pipeline we have all the most recent settings available on our docs page, easy to copy paste into OpenPnP: docs.opulo.io/openpnp/vision-pipeline-adjustment/1-introduction/
@@opulo Thank you so much !
absolutely amazing, i can’t wait to see what comes of this project in the future!
can it reliably place 0201 or 0.4 mm pitch BGA/QFN?
Max speed ? And acceleration?
I am dreaming of seeing an 0402 demo. Really hoping to sell me big commercial P&P for something small like this, but 0402 is really important.
We just posted one!: ua-cam.com/video/uu1659VPKog/v-deo.htmlsi=f8vaODEqbgiSLI6u
@@opulo 😍🥰😍🥰😍🥰😍🥰
@@opulo This is what I have been waiting for! Thank you!
does it support mispick detection ? can the machine be sped up faster than its currently running ?
Been following you for a long time. Let know if you want some injection molded parts manufactured. Google AMOLVO, Delhi, INDIA for my company's contact
Is it machine support 0201 smd components?
I believe it supports down to 0402
i not see GitHub link of the customized software ? thanks
Great project. It could be cheaper.
FAQ - What's that shaking at the beginning of the job? The LumenPnP is performing a fiducial calibration. It makes quick movements to scan for fiducials, moving a bit extra to perform backlash compensation to keep positioning super accurate. This quick movement is just jostling the spool and table a bit, but is normal and to be expected. A sturdy table is ideal, but not necessary for speedy and accurate placement. - Why doesn't the machine move while the feeders are feeding parts? This is due to a limitation in how OpenPnP is structured. Opulo and the LumenPnP community are working on an update that allows for feeding while moving, reducing job time even more. - How fast can it go? This depends greatly on your job, feeder configuration, and bottom vision settings. We at Opulo have tuned a job up to 1300 chips per hour (CPH) with room for more if bottom vision is disabled, but for most jobs and configurations you can expect between 500-1000 CPH. Check out the brochure on the product page for more details: www.opulo.io/products/lumenpnp
Can't wait for the future episodes!
Are we releasing any new videos of the latest version of this placer? A lack of uploads signals trouble but hopefully you’re just busy. Have been holding out for the linear rails but would really like to see a comparison to the previous version - even if it’s a scriptless side-by-side.
Aamzing products, and your vedio is very details. 👍
I would probably modify the KiCad files to not export things to the pos and bom files that isn't supposed to be there. Also doesn't OpenPnP support putting back the picked parts into the tape instead of discarding them? (Seems to recall seeing that somewhere)
Fantastic guide
Isn't it tough to do a plain-jane instructional video? I HATED doing the Powercore vid. Great job. Very clear and informative!
And yet, it was so vital for us to get it going.
Thanks for sharing ☺️
What a great idea, guys! Thanks for sharing and stay awesome
This is excellent guys. Subscribed.
Is this (audio) going to be published to a podcast platform, or just for UA-cam?
We're working on publishing it on all podcasting platforms right now; we haven't technically launched it yet!
Very nice 👍
Does it include the strips that hold the component tapes (and how many) ?
You're an amazing guy! Your approach and energy inspire me to continue developing :) Thank you and your team!
That’s just the best looking feeder I have ever seen! Great job!
excelent!!
Congratulations! Looks great! Like the web site too.
Well done! That's quite the level up for the Lumen
looks so great :)
It is great to see your project finished :) Wish you luck !
Super cool! Just out of interest, how does it turn the parts? I can't really figure that out from all the promo videos
Wow. This is useful.
What price?
Loved it 🤩
Interesting
Show a short video of typical work flow- that would be nice
Mine was shipped 3 days ago. I wish I knew it was coming a new version before. Surely I would pay for the extra parts if I knew.
Feel free to reach out to our customer support line and we can help ya out! opulo.io/pages/contact-support
Looks sweet! Great work guys! Need to finish some other projects first (e.g. Low Rider 3). Love your open mostly printed community inspiring/involving approach. Cheers!
Will there be an upgrade path for early adopters of the print your own parts variant?
Yes! The changes to this version are mainly to make it easier to ship mostly assembled, but all the design changes are on Github and we'll illustrate what needs to be done to upgrade your machine!
@@opulo awesome!
