One Correction: The last line Sting sings is this: "This rare perfume, is the sweet intoxication of the fall", not "of love". You can see him sing "of the fall" in the video (he makes an "F" sound not and "L" sound). And also, this lyric directly follows him talking about the Garden of Eden, hence the reason he mentions the fall: "Sweet desert rose (oh night oh night). This memory of Eden haunts us all. This desert flower, this rare perfume, is the sweet intoxication of the fall." But thank you for showing the correct lyrics in other places. Nearly all so-called "lyrics" sites, they all cut and paste the wrong lyrics, especially the line where they claim he is singing "The shadow bears a secret promise", instead of "Each of her veils, a secret promise." I knew all those other lyrics were wrong because if you watch is mouth when he sings that line in his video he does NOT make a "b" sound with his mouth at the work "bears." Rather, he clearly makes an "f" or "v" sound with his lips. People who don't actually have access to the true and correct lyrics of a song from the artist themselves have no business posted them (or editing them) on the internet based just on what they "think" they are hearing.

I'm so curious about the Arabic, as an English speaker. What I'm reading doesn't really match what I'm hearing - ex: "nahos" sounds like "wah-hos". Any Arabic speakers able to break down those first two lines a bit?
