HandyANDY - Handyman

At HandyANDY we are always happy to share! Most of these videos are shot for our clients as we are putting bids together for them and for our workers so they can understand the project without tying Andy up. These are not being shot as "how to" videos for you to learn to do the work yourselves at home. Some of these trim repairs are not something an unskilled homeowner should be trying anyway. The byproduct of all of these videos is that many new clients find HandyANDY this way. For those of you who are frustrated or have questions on how to tackle a project or something specific, please feel free to leave a comment or email or call us. Just bear in mind that Andy stays extremely busy and it is hard for him to keep up. He does try to help where he can. You can reach the office at 470-485-8524

HandyAndy reviews inspection repairs for Lawrenceville homebuyer

We always tell our buyers to be extra careful on listings with what we call Isellers - companies like Opendoor that buy homes, fix them up a bit and then resell. They offer some great homes but they use cheaper contractors. Whoever did the work on this listing, caulked over rotted wood in multiple areas and painting right over it. In the sunlight, most people never would have caught it. Here, b...

HandyANDY tackles deck repairs in Johns Creek
Переглядів 183 місяці тому
HandyANDY just wrapped up these repairs for a client in Johns Creek this week. Great clients but another example of someone who spent a ton of money and got burned. This deck was custom built about 15 years ago and we discovered that the contractor used 2nd grade wood - so the joists were rotting out. With a hot tub and a fireplace on the deck, we were forced to replace the rotted joists with p...

Crazy this a Caldwell baker home
Ur an idgit
Such bad stonework were the stonemasons cavemen
Nope ! I had to craft out & grove my own Masonite boards out of 7/16 <4x8> sheeting’s boards to match up with the existing ones
Promo`SM 😬
It would be interesting to know if they had an inspection prior to purchasing. In Buckhead the house wasn’t inexpensive.
yes, the buyer had a full home inspection done prior to buying. we were asked to walk through the potential repairs after he closed on it. Buyer was told that he needed to spend 30k-50k on drainage issues - which isn't the case at all. Swapping out the corrugated pipe for 4" pvc and pitching it correctly will handle it forever. The lot is pretty self draining once you push the water 8' from the house. I'm not sure the inspection caught some of the rotted wood issues that we found.
Is it ok to use cdx sheathing for board and batten if it's caulked, primed and painted?
Spikes are fine as long as you don’t let your gutters fill up with leaves and twigs like his I’ve had mine for 35 years and have had any problems
Would this be an acceptable ledger repair if there was no ledger flashing installed to begin with? Thanks!
Yes it works like a charm
Didnt show how to repair anything...
Probably going to be another episode, He has to get the job first, Give him a little break
Are you sure the boards weren't already compromised before the Deck Rx was applied?
Yes we are sure. The wood will almost always dry rot under this type of product. It’s really just meant to make it look pretty for a resale.
Do a good job buddy.
Do you know anyone in the southern NJ area who could take care of a basement?
I would've used "Y"'s, not "T"'s to connect to the main line. I would've 4" to 2" "Y"'s for the clean outs and faced them to the rear of the property. The popup is the worst way to end a system like this.
Dishonest. NOT A HOW TO. Booo. He just yaps. Valueless.
This clown has several videos on this and NOT ONCE does he do anything but yap. No ‘how to fix’ as some of his videos imply. Dishonest.
How do you go under the sidewalk?
Hi Andy - I am hoping you can help me out a moment. I've watched several of your videos and you talked about delamination from LP and Fiber Cement I believe. What siding would you recommend? I'm not in your area but have to redo my house and basically I am confused by 'what' to put on.
hi, do you work in the Warner Robins area?
How deep was your trench? I’m in Ohio
I have a question. I have an MI home that was built in 1992. The siding id rotting and they are Masonite siding and I heard it has been discontinued. So how do you replace siding that is discontinued for a Masonite siding? Second do you live in charlotte and have an office>
What was that you said about the crack in the bricks? What did you say fill that with. I have issues at the the edges of my garage doors. Mortar it and it cracks again. Why not use pvc brick moldings?
liar, i am handyandy
Should butt joints on cedar planks be caulked, and if so what caulk. What should be used to repair cracks and splits in cedar planks? Thanks
HandyANDY completed a ton of pre-listing repairs and improvements for this client. House sold in 2 days for $35k over the original listing price!!
What was the name brand or name of the caulk that you used?
Wouldn't gutter guards be good with tons of trees. My house is Oak trees all over. Needs to be cleaned almost weekly in fall. Wouldn't they help to lower the amount of cleaning?
Check out Ledger Stone Edges video by ZIMPLER
Where do you find this piece? I'm trying to do this myself and can't find it at my local hardware stores.
sorry - you have to either make it yourself of find someone like HandyANDY to do it for you - each one we do is custom made for the project
I’m in Atlanta how do I reach you
You can reach me at 770-265-9017
ok, where is the repair?
How do I contact you. Do you do work in Jefferson GA
yes we do - best to reach Andy at 770-265-9017
I gave a thumbs up because full of good info and obviously your very knowledgeable, but the title was misleading in my opinion which may explain why people are giving thumbs down. Hope this helps. Thank you for the info though.
Gosh I wish you were at my house fixing stuff, we found a shit show crew that did not know what they were doing for exterior siding, such a big nightmare 😢
Where did you get the Sch 40 downspout connectors? I can only find DWV downspout connectors which are smaller diameter.
Don't use them, they're not necessary.
OMG, you crack me up.. ROFL
We just bought a house with cedar siding. Needs work, but what do I use to fill the holes and cracks that will blend in when I stain?
Home Depot and Lowe’s both stock a cedar colored caulk. It’s a little harder to find right now. Caulk everything first let it cure, wait a week a caulk it again before painting or staining. Cedar should only be stained but if it’s been painted previously, you are stuck with paint
@@handyandy-handyman1454 thank you so much
We just bought a house with cedar siding. I have never dealt with this siding. You mentioned caulking the joints. What caulk would I use that will not see through the new stain.
Never do PVC for this. Total waste of money!!
Absolutely the best way to do this so not a waste at all. What is a waste is the folks that insisted on using cheap corrugated black pipe. It clogs over time. We just had a client with clogged corrugated drains that caused her basement to flood. 30k later plus the aggravation and she now wishes she’d done as HandyANDY suggested.
Handy ZV says maintain it like you're supposed to, and it will not clog. PVC will clog as well. I see bad installs of PVC all the time.
Check. Only hire contractors that have a website and a labeled van.
Great video and wish you were in my state... but, “if you see us just toot and wave”? Really?!? 😂
Great video 💥👌
Great video 👌💥
Great video dude
Good stuff, Andy. Keep up the good work. I may be reaching out to you soon to come look over my house. Thanks for making these videos.
I'm in N AL or I would have you come out...with that said, could you link the other video? Please :)
Must be nice to not have to worry about frost lines. I’d have to go at least 40” deep with those & the utility easement would stop me before I ever hit the road.
If you pitch the pipe correctly, it'll never freeze. Also, an open end, not a crappy popup.
Did you make a video of the work?
How’d you get enough fall from that back gutter? Dig pretty deep?
Is that LP Smartside? I was thing about wrapping several columns using their trim products. Can i have your opinion?
