    As a older job seeker without much skills, usps mail carrier is not a bad choice. Everything in the video is true, but you will have to understand how the game is played and what the union contract allows. Nobody in USPS will care about you. Not co workers, supervisors, union stewards , ETC You will have to be your own advocate. First 90 days will be hell. After that, you can cite protection from union contract such as work restriction to 8 hours a day, not working on your day off, etc Once you make regular , it doesn’t get better but it gets easier. Easier routes, schedule, work life balance, etc My only options is working for TSA, bus driver , prisons or usps or homeless shelters USPS has the lowest starting pay but it is the least stressful for me. Bus driving makes $42/hr but you always have to be on high alert and you gain a lot of weight if not careful. I stressed eat a lot from all the driving and heavy traffic. Prison makes $32 dollars but you can die TSA makes $32 but there’s a lot of human interaction and airport environment and being under the public eye USPS only pays $22 but work by yourself 80% of the time For me, usps and tsa were the least stressful job. TSA was a good job too but I’m introverted and prefer to be by myself. Bus driving isn’t bad either but there’s a lot of stress. You can kill a lot of people/accidents. It has happened to a few co workers plus a lot of violence on bus. Never worked in jails. Had option to work in homeless shelter for $60k a year but can get assaulted/disease Those were my choices as an older man with no skills

    The post office is built generally for those without a degree that have no other alternatives. This is how the cruddy mgmt will be able to control an employee. Providing with a loud 1980s vehicle with no.air or heat is despicable

    I'm about one month in and the job sucks. The work load is no joke. I thought it would be mellow and easy, nope it's a ton of work. I have no breaks, no lunch and I'm overwhelmed. Also, I can't drink any water because I want to avoid having to go to the bathroom on my route.

    You SPEAK TRUTH. I WORKED 36YRS. IT TAKES A TOLL ON YOUR FAMILY, KIDS, AND MAKES LIFE A LIVING HELL! IT CONSUMES ALL YOUR LIFE. YOU DON'T SEE YOUR FAMILY, YOU DON'T ENJOY HOLIDAYS WITH YOUR FAMILY BECAUSE YOUR AZZ IS WORKING. WHEN YOU'RE OFF, YOUR SO DARN TIRED UNTIL ALL YOU DO IS SLEEP, TEST JUST TO DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN. MEANING EVEN WHEN OFF YOU DO NOT SEE YOUR FAMILY FOR SLEEPING & RESTING.

    How are litter carriers getting injured on the job and some examples of the stressful things you have to deal with I’m considering this can you answer those questions I’d appreciate it. Thank you.

    • @streetbs3586
      @streetbs3586 5 місяців тому

      The injuries can come from dogs and lifting/delivering things. If you ever feel unsafe, you don’t have to deliver those items. For example, if you have to lift a heavy package upstairs or see a dog on the street, you scan no access. Supervisor will abuse you but you need to understand union contract. Your first 90 days will be HELL. It gets easier after that but not better. But it gets easier. Plus working in the cold snow rain heat sucks If you can survive, it does get Easier but not better Easier routes, easier schedule etc Easy job but stupidvisors will always be hounding. After 90 days, you can get work restriction and only work 8 hours a day. Everyone in the office will hate you but they can’t fire you. You don’t have to answer your phone on your day off. Just got to know the game, you feel me? Get in your truck and listen to music

    what he says can be true for some people; this job definitely isnt for everyone. and thats okay. but for the type of person that clicks well with it, it is a great job. yeah you are up to your ears in the shit sometimes/a lot of the time/all the time, but some people thrive in that environment. which is okay too. biggest disclaimer tho: EVERY STATION IS DIFFERENT

    When you take the USPS job is when you’re supposed to commit 100% and work as much hours as they require you to do. You’re not supposed to be thinking about school or other things because this is a career move for you. Don’t listen to this guy.

    My advice is, after you do a route a few times right down the blocks and if you start off or even for each block. Take your time before starting each loop. Make sure you get your mail parcels and packages for each loop then bust your move. Drop your big boxes off then loop back to the start of your loop. And it should be smooth. One thing that gets under my skin is the flats lol and the big boxes only because I always forget them and have to run my loops twice 🥲

    I am so glad I ran across this video because I took the assessment and did my fingerprints and I actually considered working for the USPS I haven’t gotten a call back yet but if they do call me I’m turning down the position money isn’t everything!! That’s all I keep hearing people say put my head down retirement benefits the pay is good oh it’s OK I work six days a week 14 hour days, are you guys listening to yourselves? True there isn’t a perfect job out there unless you are pursuing your passion and doing what you like to do this company this organization is scary in reference to how is ran!! money is not worth the breakdown of my body and the mental stress that management is allowed to put on its carriers! I’m surprised that the carriers haven’t went on strike!! I mean if carriers went on strike everything will come to a fucking halt!!! carriers out number management and postmasters!! I’m starting to think that most letter carriers have actually do have Stockholm syndrome and they are blinded by their paychecks which is scary. Working in a hostel work place is not OK you guys need to stop normalizing this by saying the paycheck is good

      It's rough. I was working easily over 60 hours a week. One day off- that's laundry, bills and groceries- there goes your day off, now back to work. It was one of the worst jobs I ever worked and I've worked some bad ones.

    Not to mention when you finish everything only to come back and find out they need you to do something else. I lost several co-workers in 3 years.
