Hello everyone, welcome to Buckeye Notifications. I am from the central region of the Buckeye State. On this channel, you will find videos of notification devices-primarily outdoor warning sirens, although I do occasionally upload videos of fire alarms and other general signaling devices. I also upload plane spotting and in-flight videos on here every now and then. Most of my videos are from Ohio, but I do sometimes provide content from out of state.

Testing schedule: Last Saturdays at noon, not dependent on weather
Testing time: 12:00 PM (on time)
Cycle when tested: 5-10 second alert (county Whelens), 1 minute alert & voice 4x (Marion city Whelens), 3 minute alert (electromechanical sirens)
Cameras used: Canon PowerShot SX540HS (video), Sony CyberShot DSC-HX400V (audio)
Recording distance from siren: 260-265 feet
Loudness: It made noise, can't think of anything funnier to put here atm
Temperature: 77°F

Other notes: For the last Saturday of May, I decided to record this Vortex in Caledonia. It only sounded for about 5 seconds, but unlike the other units in the county I've filmed that basically only did Whelen's noon blast function, this one continued to rotate until it was just a little past the position it started. It may have been doing a brief silent test, but I'm not entirely sure. I used my PowerShot footage for this video because the CyberShot was a bit out of focus. I was still trying to get the shot adjusted to how I wanted it, and I managed to get it to a spot I liked decently about a second before the siren started. I did make some color corrections to the shot and rotated it in post so that it would be level, so the end result is a rather tight shot from cropping the video. After making the corrections, I'd say this shot looks fairly good. Enjoy!

Can I use the youtube thumbnail for this video on a page I am working on the website Air Raid Sirens Wiki? It was the best Image I found of a 2nd Gen., but I was not sure about the copyright claims for the image. Any information would be nice to know! This was definitely installed in the 2000s when they were replacing the EOWS-612s.

Its called a WPS-3000 because it has a modern controller and sounds like all the whelens sound.
@Venteria-d4x I'm pretty sure this one is a WS because the rotator is different than the 4004's and newer 3000's. This unit, along with all other 3000's in Fairfield County, was originally a Perry Nuclear warning siren and had an analog controller, before being sold to Fairfield County where they were installed in various coverage gaps in the system. They all received a front panel upgrade (FPU) with ESC-2020 boards.
