However, I connected the fuel line, filled up the radiator, ap...

In order to capture a smaller displacement. Just buy a 1um glass scale. In order to find the real zero and 5um transition point of the glass scale, just adjust the potentiometer so that the comparator IC will trigger right at the crossover point. But then, this is quite pointless. As our machine cannot reach that precision. In terms of accuracy, most machines couldn't even 0.001" (0.025mm or 25um) precision. The machine's resolution is 0.001", and resolution is not the same as accuracy.
It looks really cool in battleship grey. The great thing is you can touch up the matt army paints very easily. I did my army 109 on bare metal with a spray gun and got a dozen spray cans made up for touching up. Nice work!
Just acquired one of these. Haven"t unboxed it yet - your findings and rebuild making me nervous! Good work. Cheers, John
Very cool! Thanks for sharing!
So if you stopped at 5:32 , would this essentially just be a running board-delete? Would you be able to still put the skirt on without those brackets being there?
coooooooooool
The museum's website seems to imply it is only open Friday, Sat & Sun - it's very confusing - surely the times open and location should be clear on the front page
One of the best vids on this subject matey! Taking mine off tomorrow to sort the rust they like to have on the rear arches and this vid has helped me see all the fixing points. Thanks!
Why not just change all the hub assembly
Could have fit a new bearing
I thought you would at least give the DRO link so people can follow?
Thanks for sharing.
Very nice walkthrough, thanks
Bought an oscilloscope recently, this was such a fun project to learn the ropes with it. Used your code in my project, thanks for such a great video!
Whats the pin out for the DB9 connector?
It's fixable, don't know why they want to right it off. Most likely they don't want to pay for the parts they are still expensive for a old car, I know I have a 2008 Disco 3. Hopefully they will fix it goodluck cheers 🍻 🇬🇧
To much time spent on wear
Would it be possible to use an Arduino to sum 2 linear scales and transmit the combined signal to the DRO ?
so I used your video a year ago for the first time, now I gotta do it again & forgot how! lol. thanks again! I'm curious, was your scale advertised to have a home position? Both of mine were said to have a Z channel to home to, and the wire is there for it in the tether, but I spent days trying to clock a signal on that line before giving up. All the IC's you showed, are potted on version. I can take the lid off, but its just a block of black and I'm not gonna dig into a working scale. If my electronics are like yours, as I suspect they are, its quite clear that 3rd channel doesn't exist. one other question, is there anything in those electronics that would suggest running at 3.3v would be a problem? I've test it on mine, it seems to work fine...but I might not notice a small error, the sort that being under powered might produced. I'm trying to run the whole thing on a 3.7v battery with a 3.3v MC, its a whole lot simpler if I dont need to send 5v to the scale.
🤪 "Promo SM"
Неймовірно цікаво!!!
How fascinating. People were much cleverer 100 years ago. There were no electronics to operate these engines, only engineuity (pun intended). One of the smallest engines made is a CO2 engine, 1 cubic milimeter capacity by Gasparin of eastern Europe. The piston is is as small as a pin head. I have a model diesel (compression ignition) engine of 0.05 cc, that is 1/20th of a cubic centimeter made by Rudolf Valentine of Germany. No doubt extreme precision is required during manufacture to justify the cost. Thanks for posting mate.
Just wish I knew what those types are.
Buenas noches. Sabrias de algun dro para reglas de optimun con señal 1vpp (señales 90, 180, 270) o si se pueden modificar las reglas para lecturas ttl. Gracias
Fantastic
15.20 you can see exactly how the governor works ! every time the valve is activated the motor speeds up and the centrifugal balls lift that pin up . cool !
Yeah, it is absolutely fascinating to watch..
Que belleza. Me gusta los sonidos
Thank you for taking the time to make this Video, I may be doing this job myself soon & this will help
Things were so much slower paced before the day of 1200 PSI 950 degree naval plants.
Beautiful engine
Yes indeed!
What a fantastic museum, and collection of engines. They look very well kept. I love to see them running as they should too. Worth the journey for sure. Thanks for making and sharing!
Many thanks!
Whoo! Engines galore!
Nice work M8. Very inspiring, I want to get rid of the noise of my converters.
Thanks for the video, i recently bought a DRO scale for a Bridgeport but don;t need a full DRO readout, only for reference, the one i NEED isn't in stock so with this video i'll be able to reverse engineer the DRO myself. Thanks again.
Hi, I would like to connect my 540 to VFD too. I run it off a Transwave converter, is there any problems to change to a VFD ie, two motors from one VFD and are the motors in delta which the instructions say. thank you Patrick
Hi, my current setup uses a single VFD, however, I run into issues with the contactors tripping it into an error. My plan is to use two smaller VFDs, one for each motor. Then remove the contactors and drive them directly and use the VFD start/stop functions.
@m0xya thank you for your replay. My other machine motors had to be changed from star to delta maybe that's what you need.
Hi, I'm trying to find out what oil goes in the sump of these 540's.
Awesome, thank you! 😎
Thanks
Had the same thing happen to my Audi. It was parked on a STRAIGHT road and someone managed to crash into it and wrote it off. He was very sorry but doesn’t know the stress and inconvenience it caused me. Sorry this happened to you
Thanks for the comment. Yeah, the stress of it all...
How do those numbers translate into centimeters? For example, if you move it a total value of 5,729 as shown in your video when you move it, how many then make a centimeter? Is it possible to figure that out?
You Sir are entitled to buy your vehicle back from the insurance company , then have it taken to a Landrover Nut , who will do a PROPER repair , then it will need an engineers report , then a NEW MOT, if you love your vehicle enough get it done , MY ADVICE IS DONT TAKE IT TO A DEALERSHIP AS THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF FOR THE REBUILD OF THIS DAMAGE .
Thanks for the comment. There is an update comming..
The first engine is incredibly unique. I've never seen that mechanism for making the piston rod move straight. I'm gonna have to copy it for myself.
The principle of that mechanism is Watt's parallel motion the one he used on his beam engines!!
That is dumb tho a lot of friction
@@mrbunchofcells Do you have a better solution thinking with the mind of a hundred years ago not with todays solutions!!! Watts parallel motion was a breakthrough at that time:-)
@@johnhili8664 It's marvellous ingenious excellent huge respect for the inventor! But do "I" have a better solution? Just look at any steam engines that were used to drive trains
@@johnhili8664 i just made less friction piston trust me I'm gonna patent it for sure
Excellent video! Do you have issue with skipping increments? Any recommendations to increase sampling rate if i want to move the scales faster? Or how i can calculate how fast i can move these without skipping
Is the Motor insulation rated for vfd use? I believe it is class F or H
I must admit, I have no idea.
Panel beater can do anything and they can cut a piece from another car and weld it on.
Hope u can buy it back and fix it for a price under what they have paid you and then make it mint
Got a mk2 if you need any photos or anything give us a shout
The bloody nightmare is that it's such a tough thing to replace for the price. Worry about the same thing with both our cars which are well maintained and cared for.
agreed, it "was" well maintained and ran very well for 170k.. however, it had to go as i didn't have the space.. insurance paid well above market value as it was almost impossible to find a suitable replacement.. allowed me to get a similar spec 2 years younger and 60k miles less..
Hey ho i suppose that's life and i suppose that's how it's going , The But is i would have repaired it myself as iam on my second Discovery the one I have just now is 26 years old and still going strong iv looked after it , serviced it every 10 thousand miles , on my 5th timing belt due to age NOT milage and has been a Very reliable car, tow car, and always felt safe in it, used to tow a 26 foot caravan, an 18 foot boat and a 3 ton trailer effortlessly , I'll be resting in my box an this car will still be going providing the next owner 😕 looks after it
If you bought this from the Web, don't lie about what you've paid. They will pull up the advert and read it to you😉
insurance paid up above market value.. can't complain too much..
