I remember seeing this go out live as a 10 year-old. I’d just been to youth club (don’t laugh), and caught it by chance on the spare telly in my mums bedroom. I just remember being in hysterics, not really understanding my, and shouting about how I had to watch it and literally counting down the days. A few mates a school had caught it too, and for a few days we were like a special little club because we’d seen it. We told everyone but we were little celebrities for that week because so few people had. I saw every episode go out live. From what I remember every other 9/110/11 year old in my class did. It was all we’d talk about the next day and would repeat the lines we could remember for weeks after. It was one of those moments when tv changes culture and millions of young lives. It still creases me up 40 years later. Everyone involved - thank you so so so much. In a pathetic, hilarious, amazing beautiful way, you (along with the zx spectrum) defined the person I am 40 years later. Thank you!
Great to see the Spectrum getting a mention there 👍
Oh man, I only discovered the Young Ones recently (like a year ago) but I also grew up with ZX Spectrum! And then the Commodore 64 🥰 Those games and MAN specially their magazines like Your Sinclair and ZZAP introduced me to British culture and that was the biggest source of joy for me in our drab little corner of the Middle East. Shows like Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, Young Ones, Blackadder, even Grange Hill (because I found it from the Spectrum game!) give me a sense of acquired nostalgia for a time and culture I never physically grew up in, but still feels like a part of my childhood 🩵
@@Tenraiden Awesome stuff 👍
"shippers74 Like you I happened to see this when it aired in... when was it... 82? I was 17/18, I think. And you'll never believe this but it's true, I lived in the same area of Bristol where The Young Ones was filmed. One day I was on my moped (!) going down the Gloucester Road in Bristol and there were two or three trucks outside the Midland Bank. The windows were all blocked out. I asked someone what was going on. They told me an episode of the show was being filmed. Two weeks later it was on the telly. Great times, and we were there to enjoy it. All the best mate.

The most worthwhile thing the bbc have done.
I still love this show.
Was the young one on in the US?
Yeah it was…. On MTV and some PBS Stations
Great trailer! Can anyone explain what that weird graphic is in that box in the bottom left corner of the endboard? Surely it ought to be a BBC2 symbol?
Completely brilliant
Not even that good a trailer, given what was to come....
Ok.. Hands up who likes me
Rik Mayall never said a WORD!
Hands up....who likes me??!!
We may not be the young ones very long. ❤️😊 Vegetables Rice & Peace. ✌🏼

@@stephenc6648 I guess SARCASM isn't for you.
Such a bleedin shame, they did not do at least another series.
GOLD.
I'm glad he's a human and not a typecast caricature. What a genuinely good dude.
Candle in the eye 😂😂
Pardon"?
It's been years since I saw this video in college. I was just got into 'The Young Ones' when I had started in 2004 and it was so funny to watch. This trailer is brilliant, a shame it wasn't released on the Special Features.
Lord flashheart you will always be in our hearts. Woof!
Does anyone seen The Young Ones Series 2 Trailer 1984 on UA-cam? I seen it.
I recall seeing that at the time. Never thought I'd ever see it again. Very many thanks for uploading. :)
Hahaha. Glad someone clipped this 30 years later
Honestly, I never knew where Ryk ends and where Richard Richard starts. RIP you fascist bastard!
Damn, i've always loved this but was it the Comic Strip/Channel Four that started the sh*tty rumors about Burt Reynolds resulting in him being accused of having AIDS? why do that when he was a good guy?
Bloody Hell!!!!
NO, NO, NO, NO! WE ARE NOT WATCHING THE BLOODY CELEBRITY MASTERCHEF BLOODY, BLOODY, BLOODY! I HATE IT! IT'S SO BLOODY NICE! GREG "TREACLE" WALLACE, AND JOHN "SUGAR FLAVOURED SNOT" TORODE WHAT DO THEY DO NOW? CHOCOLATE BLOODY BUTTON ADS, THAT'S WHAT! THEY'RE NOTHING BUT A COUPLE OF REACTIONARY STEREOTYPES, CONFIRMING THE MYTH THAT EVERYONE IN BRITAIN IS A LOVABLE MIDDLE CLASS ECCENTRIC, AND I! HATE! THEM!
After coming second place in Hell's Kitchen years ago after a really tight run, this is what he deserves 💖
I feel so lucky that, in the Netherlands, we got The Young Ones broadcast in 1985 on Dutch TV, so not for instance a decade later or even more. It never would have made the impact it did as it did, to me at least, back in 1985 when I was 12
I literally just saw this comment and had the exact same experience in the Netherlands! My father was stationed at AFSCENT (US Army), and we rented a house in a little town called Klimmen from 1984-86. There wasn't a lot of English language TV (Original Star Trek was one exception), but this was one example and I was obsessed with it. I was eleven in '85 so we're pretty much the same age. Cheers!
These outtakes are great. Ta for posting.😂
