what is friendship to you?
i had trouble with friendship and its meaning during my childhood and teenage years, the expectations i have for these bonds and how much should we fight to keep them.
this video was recorded during a trip with my dearest friends, where we share our insights about friendship: what does it have to feel like; what it means for us; are all of them destined to be temporary?
as always, thank you for watching.

trends are ruining your identity.

for those who cried in fitting rooms, let's talk about the epidemic of trends. we spent our teenage years trying to glow up, wanting "cool" clothes, products, hair styles and everything in between to be considered fashionable, pretty, or enough. when actually, there was no such thing as glowing up, but lies to make you feel worse about yourself and consume. no worries tho! in this video i want ...

I love this video & I have to say that deleting instagram and tiktok has helped me with this issue immensely! I literally have no idea what is trending and its a huge relief.

Very interesting thoughts, I believe reflecting about this helps not only in our fashion choices but also in general lifestyle, to look deeper and enjoy what speaks to you as a person. Thanks for the video and cheers from Brazil 😊

I actually clicked because of the thumbnail, it looked nice, then got surprised but how pretty you were and stayed because of the message, you're so right! I've always been having low self-esteem since I was little, and now thanks to all trends and everything even more. I'm trying to love me, but it's hard so I get into the illusion of saying to myself: "maybe if I do this hairstyle/I buy these clothes/I do makeup (...or whatever) I will like me more". Sometimes works, sometimes it doesn't. I didn't even know how to do proper make up, nobody taught me except the Internet.

thank you for your comment <3 it's a road with up and downs, and not linear. loving yourself and discovering yourself is such a hard thing to do so take it slow. it's okay to have bad days (and i'm sure you're beautiful in and out)

Honestly I agree, the real glowing up does not require materialistic things. It’s so toxic to think an object can change ur life, sure it can improve it in some ways but it has a limit. At the end of the day ur the one who makes the real change in ur life.

Even alternative styles or even subcultures that carry political and historical importance have been summarized as sexualization and mass culture, turning more of the same. What wasn't cool 3 years ago, like ballet flats or the 80s gothic look, suddenly became popular enough to appear in relevant magazines. It's robotic, not natural and these people wouldn't use it if tiktok hadn't said it was cool.

Same!!! I’m tweleve watching my little pony! Wear sparkly sequin t shirts, but I still study hard and do whatever. I try to be kind all the time. I’m so sick of the internet. However, there’s always the Gen Alpha kids who are smart, kind, ect. They just aren’t:t on the internet.

the cheetah exemple is a really great one, cus at least in my country it never get out of the stores but wasn't something cool, was a hoe thing, the bowl's was a child thing etc. Since the beginning of 2000s fashion isn't a way of expressing ourselves but a way of looking good for the society and thats make me really sad.

Thank you, so much. I wanted to get this out for so long, but you’ve already taken the plunge haha! So many girls in my grade are so young, and they always criticise their “flaws” such as: how their nose is too big, their lashes aren’t long enough, pimples, to the point where they bring makeup products to class to top up or hide any pimples or something not ‘appealing to the eye. But they’re / we’re teenagers, of course you’re going to get acne, it’s all apart of change in the body. I honestly feel awful, and it’s heart breaking to see. So many girls in my grade wear makeup as well, they look like 21 year olds, not 15-17 year olds. I personally went through insecurity with my pimples because they are really visible, but i learned to tell myself that they’re normal and just apart of life. Another thing I might add, Tiktok does play a huge significant factor when it comes to beauty standards. Everytime i go on there, almost every girl my age is wearing makeup, and they all look the exact same. Social media is something to blame for all of this, but no one wants to admit that its influence is impacting everyone negatively. Anyways, thank you again for this amazing video!

I love merging trends together! That's a part of my style. I could do the Kylie Jenner face, the alien shirt, a black skirt, a red tote bag and red loafers. I just think that if something can go together then it's cool to bring back those trends. But I don't like trends in and of itself because it makes people insecure about the way they dress, act or just are. I'm in high school right now and in middle school my friends kept on calling me a grandma because I like wearing floral patterns and longer skirts. I was sad. I knew they were "just joking" but I didn't want to be perceived as an old lady. I'm a young, somewhat "pretty" girl and I'd like other people to think of me as such. I was also upset when we had an academy and everyone was very shocked that I wore some mascara and lip tint. I like to be perceived as feminine so it was hurtful to me. Just because I don't fit their "trends" doesn't mean I'm any less feminine, pretty or interesting. At least I'm not a factory, mass-made doll that looks, dresses and behaves exactly the same as everyone else. So, in essence - trends are absolutely dumb and I don't even know why they exist. But I have a feeling that some time in the future, denying trends and being "yourself" might become a trend by itself. Anyways, toodaloo!

The key is being high maintenance but by doing it all yourself and buying as least as possible. You can make a scrub with natural ingredients and actually get health benefits from it. I use a split ender for my hair. I am looking into making my own foundation. That is true self care.

Hey gigi! Everything you said is true. People base their personalities on trends because of insecurities, or they fear to be "Not aesthetic, not cool". I'm personally new to this world of self fashion, so I wanted to know, How did you find influencers, artists, architects, and other people that contributes to your style? I'm new to Instagram, so I don't know how to start to search. Since a long time I've wanted to know how to find small bussiness to support or to get inspo from. I hope you or somebody else could help me

This vid suddenly popped up to my recommendation and I completely agree. Years ago I remember how I slowly changed into different 'glow ups' that somehow help me right now but I lost my identity back then. My surroundings demands a lot from me, specially when tiktok got popular, one of my younger friend told me I'm bunny pretty , I should wear more pink and clothes they consider girly because its popular, she often tell me things to do and say what's wrong with my look to fix and I noticed she tryna mold me into version of what she wanna achieve (that popular trend look). I'm happy she's helping me but I feel like I'm being boxed sometimes and wearing a costume when I follow the trends. I deleted most of my accounts and apps that I feel like draining me and tryna stay away from things that could make me feel I'm not enough. I'm still battling with my body issues but I feel better now, also I noticed I spend less recently, I'm happier and contented than years ago. I appreciate my natural look too than wanting to be acceptable by society's beauty standards.
