0:20 if im not wrong the house that appear first from the creek here (which has blue windows if you look closely) is the house that inspired Joan G Robinson 1967 novel 'When Marnie was there' story i wish i could visit it someday its a beautiful place

Thank you so much for your quick reply, my powerchair is only 2ft 4" (28") total width and looking at the bridges in the video, they must be at least 3ft (36") wide if not more, I am sure you would remember if they were very narrow and the bridge with the gate must be as wide as the gate posts and it definitely looks at least 3ft from the video and that is the standard garden type gate width, although it could be a bit wider. What are your thoughts?

  • @disabledadventures4115

Hi, this walk looks like it is almost accessible for my 4 wheel drive powerchair, the only obstacles that I can see are the bridge with the gate near the start and a footbridge over a dyke at 8.43 on the video, can you tell me how high the step is onto the bridge and how wide the wooden bridges are please and can you think of any other obstacles that I have missed. We are planning on trying this walk in the near future and any help would be much appreciated. I have worked out a plan to overcome the step onto the bridge depending on the height difference (don't worry it is a safe method) Look forward to hearing from you. All the best Jon and Wendy in Derbyshire. 🙂🙂

It's a lovely walk, but I'm afraid I won't be over that way for some time so I can't get you the measurements of the footbridges any time soon I'm afraid, I'm really sorry. There isn't a step onto the bridge, it just goes from one side of the dyke to the other.

Best time to see the seals is mid December to mid January, lots of pups on the beach. Wrap up warm in winter, itis windy, raining or both.

Unless you're in the middle of a heatwave with long periods of drought the muddy bit is always muddy, and at times deep in mud. But that is the only stretch. The Blickling estate is a great place to walk as there are loads of variations, and ways to cut short the walk if you need to. There is not much to see in the mausoleum, but it is open several times a year. A nice time to visit is when the bluebells are in bloom, the NT website will tell you when. its a great place to take your dog for a walk, the muddy boots cafe at the main carpark allows them in its back room. There is another larger cafe near the house and another in the rear courtyard. There is a pub close to the carpark. You can also rent bikes, all in all it's great for walkers. it's my local NT park and I walk there most weeks. Only high winds occasionally shuts the park.

Thanks so much for your comments which are really helpful. I can tell you love the grounds as well! It’s a fantastic place, and you’re right, you can adjust the walk to make it shorter should you wish. I just get this “pull” to walk past the Mausoleum!

What a lovely walk, can you tell us if we would be able to access this walk with my 4x4 electric powerchair please, we are planning to visit Norfolk in the near future and it looks fantastic and just the sort of thing we enjoy. All the best Wendy and Jon in Derbyshire

    • @ExploreNorfolkUK

Thanks for your lovely comments. There’s a gate to get through before you reach the wood and you have to go up and down some steps to get over a bridge after the wood (both of these are near the beginning), both of which you can see in the video. Hope that helps.

@@ExploreNorfolkUK Thank you for the quick reply, I had seen the first gate but couldn't work out from the video if it is a normal gate that I could get through (my chair is 28" wide) or a kissing gate with a restricted swing and no area at the side for me to drive into and then swing the gate across. We would be happy to just visit the Priory and then tale a walk as far as the steps you mentioned if that is possible, because it looks lovely.
