I just bought a 1977 breech lock 50mm 1.4 fd just like this. The blades won't work with the adaptor. and the glass has slight fungus. The lens came in the original box and looks new. I also have the nfd version of the lens dated 1981 and it works great and has really nice color and sharpness. I just can't leave the ssc without trying to fix it. Thanks for this video !

I have a big problem, I can't open the first ring 😢

If you have a stuck winding dial, like the one on my camera. Then, you can put the camera securely in a padded vice and use a pin or O-ring pick and a hammer to gently persuade it to twist clockwise. If you took apart the bottom like me, you would have to wedge the gear with a small screwdriver. Good luck. It will take more force than you are comfortable with, but the camera will be fine the gears are metal.

How did you twist the front off? I just cant get mine twisted free.

Thank you for the video, but I have already lubricated, refurbed and polished my Helios-40, looks fabulous! Also I cleaned and lub aperture ring, had a lot of fan with it)) Also ive made custom fine tuning spacer ring to have infinity focus. Although I have an issue: 2 tiny pieces of dust inside a lens block, should it bother me or not since they have no influence on photo?

Dude…. I have a beautiful 55mm 1.8 super multi coated but the range finder is loose and spins freely, it’s still useable but I’d like it to work as intended. This looks like I have to do a complete deconstruction just to analyze the issue, and I’m not even sure if I’m skilled enough to analyze the issue let alone take it apart. Want to trade? Can I mail it to you? Or better to cut losses and but another and hope it’s as good as the one I have? Maybe just ignore the range finder issue and love the Takumar I have?

I was able to disassemble my industar 50-2 lens following this video, however, when i put it back together, together, it was a different lens, it couldnt focus properly anymore. I wish there was a voice over instead of just video, so as to warn us what to look out for. I couldnt put it back together in a way that it is working properly again. Not for newbie diy'ers

Thanks for your video, informative. I used it to disassemble the iso dial (the crank and the top plates, to the same stage that you did on this video). Doing that i realiserad that my iso dial is probably put together 180 degrees wrong. when i set my iso to 400, as you did, the little "stop" (the metal one when all the top plates is gone) thing points at 11 a clock not at 5 a clock as on your camera. This means that i need to disassemble it even more and i don't have a qlue on how to do that, and I cant seem to find any instructions online to help me. Any ideas on how to do this? Or do you know any sours of information/instructions online describing this? /regards

Hi Didier. I have such a lens. Just bought it. Although it looks pretty ok from the outside it can not focus. The ring turns, but the picture is never sharp. I suppose it has been assembled in a bad way, maybe... Could I please hire you to repair the lens? Would that make sense? kind regards and Thank you for considering
