    Wiki How is horrible and detrimental resource for social anxiety that is built on ableist toxic CBT filled with wrong explanations and misleading statements. 1) breathing will not help with social anxiety - it will make it worse because we are now clearly signaling our brain that we are in special danger that must be stopped. Since social anxiety is caused and triggered by criticism and scrutiny - the source being in other people - we cannot control other people. We cannot soothe other people's anger with our breathing. We did not cause other people be hysterical and have NPD and inability to process their hysteria and it would be detrimental to believe that we can calm and fix other people through ourselves. This toxic shame belief that we can fix other people by curing something sick inside us which is not sick at all actually - leads to codependency and trauma bonding and personality disorder - since we will believe that our brain is abnormal and malfunctioning for feeling legit reaction to abnormal sick people around us. 2) Exposure will not help if we are not first explained that social anxiety means suppressed anger. Without clear and laser sharp information that suppressed anger is the cause and motor of social anxiety - we will continue to do the same copy paste dysfunctional unhealthy coping mechanisms which we learned in ACE and ACoA years. This means - that with exposure we will react in unhealthy manner - which was programmed and conditioned inside us: by suppressing our anger emotion. Plus - exposure to Chernobyl will not make us resilient to toxic radiation - instead exposure to dark triad predators will be Death of 1000s cuts. When we expose - we need to have our identity and know who we are and what we like and dislike - without this identity we will be codependent on toxic people to approve our goals and directions in life with catastrophic results. 3) CBT is toxic therapy - that teaches us to suppress our emotions - and suppressing emotions leads to mental illness. CBT ought to be banned.

      @@drchloe_ This is odd, given that in this era of online purchasing, men are almost certainly doing their/our share of binge buying also. What prompted you to get interested in this subject anyway?

      @drchloe_ Місяць тому

      @@pukeachuYes you're absolutely right, I'm not suggesting that women actually suffer from this problem more. I was just answering the question you asked about what I've noticed about male/female differences in this area and sharing what I personally have observed in my personal and professional experience. What prompted me to comment in the news clip here was simply a request by the network for me to share some tips about how to control purchasing and reasons why people overpurchase.

    I am reading your book Dr. Chloe Carmichael. Thank you very much for the hard work you put into writing this book. I wanted to know what you think about Zoraya Ter beek. A young Dutch girl who applied for euthanasia in the Netherlands, was accepted and... 😮‍💨 Could no one really help her?

    • @drchloe_
      @drchloe_ 2 місяці тому

      Thank you so much for your kind words about my book! Of course I never met or treated the young woman you mentioned, but in principle I am absolutely against suicide (physician assisted or otherwise), especially for someone who is physically healthy. There is always something more to try. I read that the doctors told her there was nothing more they could do... I personally would be very curious about that. Sometimes, even just trying a different therapist who connects with you better can help; sometimes volunteering to help others can do wonders to change our perspective.... Again, I never met her nor treated her-- but the situation certainly seems concerning.

    My mother was a shop addict. In order to break the addiction i would shop and make a list of everything i wanted to buy with price and store. If any of the items haunted me over the week that i needed that item i would return and buy it. I didn't go back i buy any of it. I love shopping at TJ Maxx type stores that i you see it you buy it because it will be gone if you wait Even now if buy anything i allow time to think about my purchases and i return about 50%.

    Please don't flip this into "confidence." She was made how she was made - perfectly, unique, lovely... and without necessity, she decided to pay a ton of money to operate on herself so that she would recieve more attention. She's married - did her husband want this? Who else does she want to please if not him (and he to her, goes both ways)? It just doesn't make sense to call it self confidence. A self confident person who feels great about themself doesn't enhance their body unnaturally. "Social signaling" is a nice way of saying "attention." To all the woman thinking about unnecesary plastic surgery, you are fearfully and wonderfully made - an art project of God. Your beauty is external AND internal. Your uniqueness is a gift - be proud of yourself and your look and make the effort to get healthy (exercuse/diet) if you want to look better. You are a wonderful creation :). The psychologist seems a little too much of a yes woman. People need the truth!.. filled with grace of course. Jesus loves you.. so much so that he gave his LIFE for you.

      some people like to please themselves and their own ideals of beauty... ever though about that? if people are "perfect" the way you describe and do not need any alteration of their physical appearance, why bother getting "exercise" as you mention it? do you feel the same way about altering your hair, eyebrows, applying makeup or even stuff like getting braces to fix crooked teeth?
