Hey Kitty, Roger Taylor was with Arcadia, Andy and John with Power Station. Unfortunately only until the studio album was finished. After that Roger left the music business until 2004. As always your videos are great, kind regards from Switzerland

Hello Kitty, I really enjoy your videos, like someone your age comments on my favorite band, of which I have been a big fan for 41 years (I have even met them in person), and is interested in this great band. Of course I have to smile a lot when you don't know something or misunderstand it :-) I have a funny piece of information for you about the song Rio. At the beginning you hear a strange noise. It was made by throwing a handful of coins into a piano and then playing the recording backwards. The information is much too late, but for those who watch this video after me, it might be interesting. Thank you for your videos, it's a lot of fun to watch your videos. You do a great job. Best wishes from Switzerland Ps. Andy Talor worked on the last album Danse Macabre on the Studio. He even wanted to go to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame honor, but unfortunately weeks before the performance he wrote that he was feeling worse again. I love this album, and i think a lot of DD fans do, but i don't know why it wasn't a success. So many wonderful songs. I listen to this album on a regular DD rotation.

What a brilliant reaction video! Thank you. It's one of my favourite DD albums. I loved that Mark Ronson said that he wanted to make the follow-up album to Rio when producing AYNIN. My top five favourite tracks? All You Need Is Now Girl Panic! The Man Who Stole A Leopard Mediterranea Before The Rain This album is classic Duran Duran. I was 8 when this album came out, and completely obsessed with Girls on Film. It has so much radio rotation, that and "Is There Something I Should Know". I used to listen to the radio "requested records" radio show every day at my grandma's, and was always wishing someone requested Girls on Film, which thankfully happened on an almost daily basis.

I always thought Election Barbarella sounded like the band Garbage. It's amazing how unpopular they were in 97 compared to just 6 years later.

This is where the band lost the style versus content war. It got worse with Liberty, sometimes a band can try too hard to stay relevant.

I remember being 17 and discovering this in 1997. I found it in a second hand music shop and 20p on vinyl. I remember being loving Lady Ice instantly and spotting the obvious Japan influence. I wish there was an interview about how they wrote and produced the album. Shame they never play songs from it as DD.

They just played Missing in this October 2024 tour. What an experience. I never thought I would hear this song live.

In UK… Electric Barbarella was released as a single when Greatest came out. It has a white cover. I remember getting the US single when visiting NYC in 97. US Medazzaland CD had a cool hot pink inlay tray. Nick famously called this version of Duran v3.3. At the time the album sounded like it was way ahead of its time. Love it 💓

I like your choice of matching your dress to the album cover art. The cover art was created by a famous fashion illustrator Tony Viramontes. As a graphic design student at the time and a long-time fan of DD I studied every design detail. Brilliant album. Great review! Thanks!

This is such a very underrated album. They should play more songs live from this masterpiece. Missing, the flame, the promise and Lady ice especially!
