    No head gasket and red Hermetite?

    • @Rossco7422
      @Rossco7422 18 годин тому

      Believe it or not the clearance thickness of the gasket is important to maintain the size of the combustion chamber.

    Зачем столько проблем и мучений, эта передняя панель щит в сборе можно сегодня купить целиком в нескольких исполнениях. Есть просто голый металл, есть покрытый грунтом, есть оцинкованный, и даже есть нержавеющая сталь. Для чего всё это? Купить новую запчасть и поменять, во первых быстрее да и качество выше в разы, чем собирать эту панель из кусочков. Да и сначала нужно полностью восстановить геометрию кузова, т.е. купить и установить новую раму, только так вы получите 100% результат. Why so many problems and torments, this shield front panel assembly can be purchased today in its entirety in several versions. There is just bare metal, there is covered with soil, there is galvanized, and there is even stainless steel. What is all this for? To buy a new spare part and change it, firstly, it is faster and the quality is much higher than assembling this panel from pieces. And first you need to completely restore the geometry of the body, i.e. buy and install a new frame, the only way you will get a 100% result.

    A lot of progress Ross. Those split-ring wheels are great. I used to do a lot of 'truck' split-rings, but we inflated them within a strongly made steel cage just in case the ring let go under inflation. The air tanks look very neat and tidy.

    • @Rossco7422
      @Rossco7422 Місяць тому

      Thanks man, slow and steady wins the race. This style of split rim aren't too bad, if in doubt I would push them under the vehicle and inflate them there.

    That Q2 is ultra rare. I only know of one other that is not in a Museum. Some parts shouldnʻt be too hard to find as Rootes used a lot of car parts in their trucks, etc. Motors similar to Humber Hawk / Snipe, etc...As a Commer fan (spelt incorrectly in the video!) I wish you a lot of luck. Someone had a manual for a Q2 on one of the Commer Rebuild Facebook pages lately.

    • @Rossco7422
      @Rossco7422 Місяць тому

      Yes it's very rare. Never noticed the spelling mistake, not going to change it low, lol. This is the 8 foot wheelbase Commer. I think the manual floating about is for the 10 foot wheel base.

    Great stuff Ross.. Reviving an historic vehicle always throws up the question of 'how' much of the original do you replace. Looks like you have a good balance there.

    • @Rossco7422
      @Rossco7422 2 місяці тому

      You have to cut out all the rot, if that works out cheaper than replacing the bulkhead, then your onto a winner. I bereave the Series 3 was when Land Rover peaked with there build quality. After that there were less galvanised parts and poorer painting technique used. Military Land rovers can be an exception. Even though they have a hard life, there well maintained and are thoroughly washed down after every exercise. No mud build up to hold in moisture like what you might find on a farm wagon.

    • @Rossco7422

      I'm doing a video on the "Marmite" topic at the moment. if you got out of a Snatch into a Saxon it was the best in the world but if you just spent 3 years in Warrior then it was pretty crap.
