I remember making that decision. I tried offering limited choices for builds and steering customers towards what I liked building but in the end I was still building someone else's guitar. Now I build what I like. If someone else likes it as much as me, well I'm only too happy to sell it to them. Be you and create your art.

Good stuff cobber it’s a hobby not a job no point getting stressed over it or you’ll loose the enjoyment and passion of doing it, me personally I’m building my first ever cbg and just taking my time while I learn from yourself and others yeah taking a while but who cares when time allows I’ll work on it and eventually it’ll get done. Thanks for the advice on how to be involved in this great hobby and the little tips stay healthy.

Great, very important video for all CBG farmers. Even more important than the intonation (which I can still adjust by moving the bridge) is the intonation of each fret, I call it fret purity, because you can't change the frets after you've built them. So you have built an unplayable CBG. From my own experience, many CBG builders have problems putting the frets where they really belong. Especially when the chords are fingered, you notice this very quickly.

great video. I like the template / jig idea. Even though I'm still at the hobby level I want to make them as consistent and quickly as possible. I'm going to start making some jigs for the reparative stuff. I don't like to glue my fret boards on until I've fit it to whatever box.

The shovel is made of tempered steel. That's why it's hard to drill. Carbide tip drill bits will drill it nicely at last a lot longer

I am a Del disciple and build them that way too. They sound great. I'm building # 8 and 9 in about 6-8 months. So much fun to build and play.

instead of copper tape for the 'earth' wire (kind of expensive unless you use a lot of it), how about aluminum foil secured to the box?

In the United States, tobacco shops usually have a surplus of empty cigar boxes are sold for a few dollars apiece. Most (perhaps all by now) states allow high-proof liquor to be sold by private businesses instead of solely at state liquor stores; these liquor stores often sell cigars and have empty cigar boxes for sale, though those boxes seem to cost more.
