FIRST...YOU ARE NOT STUPID! This is America. We're supposed to be able to buy things that work as described. It is quickly becoming common knowledge that LeafGuard gutters do NOT work as advertised, nor does the company stand behind their "lifetime warranty." SECOND...leave your original video up. The longer it is up, the more people get exposed to the problems you have had. Leafguard will be back in contact with you. MAKE THEM CRAWL AND BEG!!! Your experience reminds me of the movie "TIN MEN" about the siding industry's pressure sales in the 1950s. It's a great movie, if you haven't already watched it. Also eye-opening. Thank you for your videos Brenda!

I looked into and tried different gutter protectors for a long time and went with leaf filter because I liked the product design the best. I found the price extremely high on a per foot basis, but worth it as an experiment before outfitting my rental properties to take gutter cleaning costs down. I found my particular installer competent and timely (rare these days). Unfortunately I have found gutter protectors are just never perfect, and Leaf filter performance is highly dependent on the specifics of your location. Still haven't made a decision, the price is very high to not be perfect.

I agree 100 per cent. They have came out to clean them once when I complained. Then they gave me a long handle brush, so I could clean the myself.

Of course! Hush money so they can continue to sell their bogus product to unsuspecting people. There is a special place in hell for people like that. Thank you for making people aware of their shoddy practices.

I've stayed away from gutters all together. I have three large trees surrounding my house, and my neighbors have trees. So much debris lands on my roof gutters would just clog up.

Gutter guards are the problem! There's no such thing as NO maintenance gutters! Those guards get covered over and don't even allow water to reach the gutters. Just starts seeping under the shingles. I love yall kiddo 💗

Best of luck to you and your husband! Getting your money back is what you deserve but not under legal mumbo jumbo that protects a sleazy company and then paying taxes on top of that! Stand your ground and let them continue to sweat. 🙏🏻

Unfortunately, this is the world we live in today. Almost everything you purchase with your hard-earned money is pure junk. From Gutters, to Automobiles, everything costs more but the quality is less. I feel terrible for you and your husband for having to deal with this. And finally, tell your husband, "Thank you for your service".

In looking at the LeafGuard gutters, it looks as if they're the old style that works well in light rain, but can quickly get overwhelmed in corners and heavy rain.

I think that ours is leaf guard. Can't tell by the video, but ours are aluminum and work by the sticktion of water that goes around a curve and into the gutter. Perhaps we are very lucky but we've had them for 10 years and even in the heaviest rain, they work great. Haven't the roof since. We had bad hail seven or eight years ago and they got dented up so we called, they looked at them and said it wouldn't affect the operation, it didn't. We have a hip roof and ours cost 4k, not 11 k. Doesn't seem like it could be the same as what this poor woman is describing.

As a former house painter, I've grown to hate gutters in general. LeafGuard or otherwise. So many rotted fascia boards, water tracking back into the soffits, dangerous to keep clean, filled with crap no matter what their claims may be. Always a mess, always causing damage. I would rather builders and architects put proper drip edges on the roofs and then just plan to deal with the water on the ground instead with proper foundation waterproofing, proper grading of slope, guiding water with planned drainage and rocks, etc. Gutters suck.

I have leaf guard and don't believe this at all. I have one 3 foot section that looks similar because two sections form a large valley, but even then only in a heavy downpour. Otherwise no rain overshoots the gutters anywhere.

Crappy company. There are better and MUCH CHEAPER options out there. I had them come out for a quote. After a "dog and pony" sale pitch the quote was crazy high. So, I sent him along his way. The salesman then sits in his car in my driveway for about 8-10 minutes and then comes back. In short, he claimed he had to call in the office to report what happened and they offered me the same system TODAY ONLY for half the original quote. Some baloney story as to why TODAY I could get the same thing (from 10 minutes ago mind you) for half price. I hope this "pressure style" of BS no longer works for most people. Being in sales this is what gives us all a bad name and rep. So, I called his boss to complain and that smug man went on to brag about their $2M (if I remember correctly) in sales from the previous year and that their salesman did no wrong. Look further people-

I just got brand new 7 inch gutters and downspouts and decided not to get any gutter guards and 4 of the 8 downspouts clogged on first rain as i didn't realize how much garbage from the trees had blown onto my room and right into the gutters. you need 7 inch for heavier rains, but no gutter guard is w/out maint. you still have to clean them off once or twice per year. you either have to get up on a ladder or walk the perimeter of the roof with a blower. also, if you have buried downspouts, then you really need to be careful that your gutters remain free from debris. best solution is on "french drain man" youtube channel.

  • @tech29X

As a rule of thumb, stay away from any product that claims to protect your gutters from debris. I've seen many different types, not just leaf guard, and they all fail for one reason or another and cleaning gutters with some guard over it is much more difficult than regular gutters. I've seen carpenter ants nesting inside the dirt, tree sap and debris collected in the gutters under the screens of gutter guards. By the time this becomes a problem the company that installed the product already cashed your check and left town.

We have a 2 story home and I bought a Stihl attachment for their blower and it curls into the gutter and blows everything out. You just have to do it every few weeks, depending on how many trees are around. Keep those gutter open!

i paid $4500 for 7 inch premium gutters (w/thicker gauge .032 metal) on a 3,500 sq ft one story in florida w/concrete tile roof. no gutter guards. i learned real quick that i now have to get up on the roof with my blower and walk the perimeter to blow everything out before it rains or will get clogs. but when all the gutters are clean, they work great. some installers are putting up 7" only - to handle the heavier rains better.

It bothered me hearing the disappointment and distress in your voice. It makes me angry at the company. As an ex-Roofer of many years, and a Handyman who cleans gutters as part of my services, I haven't seen a single gutter guard work as promised, and many are worse than open gutters. When I see the latter I invariably suggest removal. Most of the time my suggestion is not taken because people have been sold the hype of gutter guards. Regardless, I'm back every year to clean the gutters again, and they're always full enough to be clogged at the downspout opening. Some maintenance is inevitable, and in yards with trees, gutter cleaning is inevitable. I hope and pray you and your husband get justice, Ma'am.

I think I have Gutter Guard (not sure). If you live in a colder climate, those overflows turn into huge icicles. When the sun comes out, they drop off and become somewhat dangerous. I knock them off with a rake or broom near where we walk under them. I haven't cleaned my gutters in over 10 years. Sometimes I clean off the edges to make them more slippery. In a heavy downpour, they do overflow. But, the open gutters that filled with leaves and needed to be cleaned out backed up too. I have a 50-gallon rain barrel that is hooked into one of the downspouts. I drain it in winter. When I refill in Spring, it only takes a light rain of a couple of hours to fill it to the top. The volume of water coming off the roof in a heavy rain or thunderstorm is immense. As long as it's not getting into your basement, don't worry about the overflow.

Seems like a grinder could take off the top part and at least make the gutters to where they are serviceable again. Hinge and clasp maybe? I dunno. That is too expensive for them to have an unserviceable product.

Our house is a one level ranch style. I rigged up an extension with a u-shaped inlet for my 6 gallon shop vacuum. Cleaning my gutters from ground level is easy. I also mount a battery powered security camera to a pole and use it to check the gutters on my iPhone. Easy.

Hello Brenda. I have had LeafGuard gutters on three homes and never had an issue like this. I also know many others in my neighborhood who have them and love them. I have had to call them twice to address a corner leaking, and they serviced them promptly at no cost. I recommend them to everyone. You may have gotten a bad install because that shouldn't happen if they are installed properly. It's sad that they are not able to address your issues and get them fixed.
