Here's what the Lyft app looks like for Lyft drivers
Lyft drivers use the same app as Lyft passengers, but drivers can see a super secret hidden area of the app that allows them to accept ride requests. Check it out!
Once a Lyft driver is in driver mode, all they can see on the map is their current location. When a driver gets a ride request, a large button appears that gives them the option to accept the ride.
After the driver accepts the ride request, the driver is given the passenger's location. The driver drives to the location and taps a button to let Lyft know that the ride has begun. That's when the meter starts to run! At the end of the ride, the driver taps another button to signal that the ride has ended.
Fares are calculated based on time and distance. A $1 "Trust and Safety Fee" is also added to each ride.

Your Lfyt driver app is setup totally different from here in Michigan. Ours hardly ever tell us where the person is to be picked up nor dropped off. It just navigates you, which typically is to the wrong address.
The format looks way different now. The video is over two years old.
Looks like the app has changed over the years. It looks nothing like this today. I assume it only shows the pink areas for the area you "signed up" for, as the area I am currently driving in hasn't shown anything in the day and half I have used it (Express). I was told I could get the car from the rental place and use it in my other county. I can scroll over to the signed-up area and see pink squares.
Thanks for the useful info. After giving my first two Lyft rides, I have a question about what happens after picking up a passenger. First I tapped the Arrive prompt, and then the Pick Up prompt. Both riders entered their destinations, and when I tapped the Navigate button, it started Waze but took several seconds to begin navigating. At the top of the Waze screen there was a first message (which I don't remember) and then a second about downloading languages. Once that process completed, it all worked fine, but why does it take so long to begin navigating? Does it only do this on the first ride of the driving session?

do you have to keep the app on your screen to get a passenger request or can you turn on driver mode and use a diffremt app while waiting like netflix or youtube for instance?

my android phone cannot do split screen so if I'm logged in the driver mode and I want to watch UA-cam videos will I be automatically notified when I get requested to pick up somebody? Or do I have to stay on the lift driver mode screen?
