The description is completely wrong. It says that there was confusion about which track the train was coming in on and that's why the cyclist almost got hit. No the cyclist almost got hit because he's a complete idiot. Who in the name of God runs in front of a train???

He's holding the bike in one hand, a phone or camera or whatever in second, CLEARLY looks right at the train and still decides to run across the rails anyway? Honestly, from what I can tell, he might have been filming the traind and wanted to get a cool shot. What we are looking at is a failed attempt for Darwin's prize foiled by the train's low speed and already applied brakes (that thing stopped pretty much immediately)

Dude could've rode the bike to be faster and cross the tracks far ahead of the train rather than right in front of it. That wouldn't be good either, but way better than what he did lol. That WAS the last train so I understand his perspective, he just could've done it better.

What’s really dangerous are those Japanese and European bullet trains. They come so much faster, people can’t judge the timing.

Of the hundreds of thousands of miles Amtrak travels accident free across the United States for some strange reason northern California is a hotspot for accidents, mainly due to people doing exactly what you have just seen in this video. I used to drive a city bus and many times we were forced to detour do to a pedestrian, or car vs train event. The engineer would not have been at fault, but who wants a fatality on their conscience for the rest of their lives.

But guys, you don't understand. He would have missed the train if he didn't almost get killed by the train.

The biker is indeed dumb and the engineer was right to deny service, but I have never seen a dumber station design. The train just randomly stops in what is effectively a parking lot? No raised platforms? No barriers? Yikes.
