How to make anywhere feel like home
Переглядів 6 тис.8 місяців тому
For those of us in the US, our time at home typically ends at around 18 years old. At that point, many of us move out, either in the same city or to a new one, and we begin the process of creating a new home. Or at least, some version of one. That's something I struggled with for a long time, but its been a focus of mine for the last year. And suffice it to say, things have changed. This is the...
How I found my dream job
Переглядів 5 тис.9 місяців тому
I never had a dream job growing up. Didn't really care to be an astronaut, or police officer, or actor, or whatever. I chose to study mechanical engineering, because thats what you do when you graduate high school and you're decent at math and science. But, after a lot of searching and moving around, I found my dream job - and I think you can too. This is chapter four in a short series about wh...

“Home is where somebody notices when you are no longer there. ” ― Aleksandar Hemon, The Lazarus Project This is chapter three in a short series about what it's like to move somewhere new. I've moved every 4 months for the past 2.5 years, and I'd like to really sit down and process what each of those moves meant to me. This video series is my way of doing that, and I hope it provides some value ...
Why traveling the world won't change your life
Переглядів 2,6 тис.Рік тому
A lot of people dream of getting away, traveling, and seeing the world. They think it'll give their live meaning, and that the best thing they can do is move away and live somewhere new. Well, I did that. I moved to France and traveled all over Europe. Shockingly enough, it's not all it's cracked up to be. This is chapter two in a short series about what it's like to move somewhere new. I've mo...
How it feels to leave home

Freedom is something I think most people long for, in one way or another, and getting out of your current town is certainly a way to experience that. Moving out west for a summer sounds like a dream come true for many, and for me it was. But when so-called "unlimited freedom" doesn't feel very freeing anymore, you begin to re-evaluate what it means, and you reconsider your "dream" of moving som...
I surprised my friend by learning her language
Переглядів 1,2 млнРік тому
This has been a long time coming. I spent 30 days learning French, in an effort to surprise my french friend Louise when I visited her in Atlanta. Let me just say, it was so worth it. I've never considered myself very good at languages, but I truly believe they are some of the most valuable things we can spend our time learning. Being able to understand the way that other people around the worl...

I just wanted to give you a heads up. I have looked at all the links you provided, they are super helpful for language learning but I think one of them might be a little problematic. I have now started getting spam in my email inbox in French! I know it’s from one of the links you provided as I have watched few UA-cam videos about french learning and those I did watch I never clicked on any links. There is probably nothing you can do other than removing the links, but I just wanted to make you aware ❤
Hm thanks for letting me know, that is concerning. Do you mean the links in the notion document or in the description of the video? I can't imagine it'd be the ones in the video - just youtube, amazon, and notion. Did you sign into your email on any other websites from the links in the notion document? definitely would want to set a warning or something if one of them was bad.
Great video! I would love to see you try learning Polish:)
I do have a friend who is polish so I'd love to try it out someday
@@zackburkhardt that would be awesome:0! Have a nice day:)
Yes „Was passiert hier“ means „what is happening here“ but if u wanna say „Whats up“ you usually say „was geht ab“ in German
got the message across I suppose but yeah, gave myself away immediately as an American haha
I just skip chords and went straight to tabs
that works too
friend 🤨
so this is what falling in love is like, cuteeeeeee > . <
bro's making it out the friends zone!!!!!
Jon is her minds eye. He's in the friend zone.
T'as bien travaillé ! Bien joué !
Accent, pretty impressive! This was very realistic and probably the speed that I learn languages too, unlike other videos I’ve seen where people seem to have a fluent conversation after just a few weeks, which is so discouraging to those of us who really struggle. The thing is, there is a lot more to learning a language than people sometimes realise. It’s not just learning words or phrases, it’s comprehension, pronunciation, being able to read and write the language. It’s understanding how to use verbs in the past present and future. It’s word order. Etc etc. My Dutch is still not fluent despite living in the Netherlands well over 23 years and at this point I’ve pretty much given up as I have very little social interaction anyway. But despite this I still really enjoy learning languages. Just enjoy the process and don’t worry about how fast you learn it, it’s all about human connection and that is what you should focus on the most.
thanks! yeah its not easy and pretty as it looks in most videos. glad you've enjoyed your process learning - especially actually living in a different country and using it
Who the f… is Jon? 🐔blocking my friend here 😂
this is cute
Hey bro.. I'm unable to open this notion document can u help with that!?
should work now!
French is very difficult to learn and as a French person I can say that for only thirty days that guy did a good job 👌
merci!
it's been 2 months of my guitar journey.. and I know only 2 chords that is the c M and e minor..but I completed one whole song in fingerstyle! ..what do you think about this progress?.. I still dont know how to do transition bw chords.... and I am struggling to do f barre chord...... but I have mostly learned all the notes.. and the 3 octaves on Guitar.... so it's now quite easy for me to locate notes on a song... it's now infact easy for me to learn tabs basically.(ignore my stupid grammatical error . it's not my fiirst language,)
nice! I feel like getting to learn a song quickly is nice because you can enjoy what you're doing a lot quicker than if you really practice the fundamentals only. of course, you'll have to go back and get the rest of the chords down, but nice progress thus far!
broh got friendzoned ,and I don't think he will ever be able to escape.
I started guitar about 2 months ago and I’ve been practicing to master barre chords since week 3 so I’ve mastered most barre chords but suck at normal chords lol
dang that is impressive lol, i tried for a day on barre chords and figured I'd save that to be a later skill
AwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwWWWWWWWWWWWWWWAWWWWWWWW
tu est très touchant et très doué aussi, très belle preuve d'amitié ! Bravo !
merci!
friendzone detected.
I wish I didn’t have FOMO or anxiety. Things are far harder in terms of consistency and quality of relationships when you’re dealing with internal struggles like mental health. So much harder to adapt and put yourself out there, which are key to finding “homes”. Plus, one thing I do know is friends come and go. Those clips of parties or events are ever so fleeting.
Yeah I can't speak to anxiety honestly but I did used to have a lot of FOMO. I don't know if i have an actual strategy for beating it because I think I ultimately just missed out on enough things that it didn't affect me anymore. Like you said, a lot of those parties and events are pretty fleeting moments, and a lot of those friends are great at the time but end up only being in your life for a short while. Identifying the people you want to stick with in the long run (if any) is key, and then you gotta make the effort to keep them around. It might be harder for you than other people but that doesn't mean it's impossible
This is the sweetest thing you can do to make a friend happy
Man kann nicht in dreißig Tagen Französisch lernen.😂
ja ja natürlich aber mann kann ein wenig lernen und ein bisschen Spaß haben
Tech bro doing some heavy lifting out here 😅❤ The ratio is unfavorable - gotta stand out.
this guy gets it
“My friend” 🧐
13:05: the sudden improvement in your pronunciation, after she repeated the sentence for a second time only, is absolutely MINDBLOWING. Well done!
preciate it!
I also started learning Tamil because of my best friend who is from Sri Lanka. 🙂
I’m legitimately impressed with your progress here in only that short period of time. I took classes for 2 years in German as a second language, and while it was (if I may brag for just a second) my best class in those years, I don’t think I picked things up quite this quickly at the beginning. That being said, I’m not really a fan of comparing myself to others, but I appreciate your showing that dedication to a personal goal can really pay off! 😃 As a side note, I did take just one week of a French language class about 14 years ago, but the two main phrases I learned are still engrained in my memory 😄
King!
chat is this w rizz?
8:52 "keep saying stuff in French". Guys, bro secured the bag. 😭🙏
When she’s talking about “you dont change a winning team” it essentially translates to “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”
Learning notes, intervals, scales ?
That'd be the next steps to actually get good at learning guitar. For a month, I just wanted to get to a point where I could have fun, and thus be more motivated to tackle the more difficult stuff
so...how long have you been dating for? lol
Hey, I know this was posted like a year ago but keep going. I’ve been learning French since school, I’m 40 now. I’m fluent but by no means a native speaker. There will always something new to learn ❤
for a month it's pretty darn good!
Congrats you've done the most! not American thing, Learn another language...Our respect to you
Lucky him... 😭🤍🙏🏽✨
So, when are you getting married?
I hope no jock steals her.
Beeindruckend. Ich weiß nicht wo Du heute stehst mit französisch aber, für 30 Tage finde ich das Hammer
danke :)
Learning a language is difficult, especially if you are older than ten. This is when cognitive processes lateralize. However, it is never too late to learn. I am lucky to have fluency in more than one language.
You should get more speaking practice and then that’s rizz (it’s still rizz either way she likes you bro)
Il est bon à marier😂
Istg if the next video isn't about asking your friend out I'm gonna- ...
don't get your hopes up
@zackburkhardt aww 🙁
Well @@zackburkhardt, there are close to 35 million in France, cherish a nice friendship while maybe socializing and meeting other french people

impressed by your effort, as I am very sure that she was
thanks!
“And that kids is how I met your mother.”
I hope you guys get together. But in French. 😂
Why a plain Baguette not a Croissant?
idk baguettes are just better - i'd rather eat a baguette than a croissant. maybe next time i'm in france
