Music Video Behind the Scenes

Ever wonder what it's like making a real Music Video? The live band typically plays along to the finished recorded song. In order to match the song perfectly the song is played out loud through a PA. The musicians perform their parts with out amplifiers turned on, and with the drums muted. This will allow them to hear the song and match their parts perfectly for post production editing. Drums a...

Get Black Salt Audio Silencer. It’s fucking magical for eliminating cymbal bleed from shell mics.
@@BeatsAndMeats I may try that, however most of the time clients want everything dry off the pre amps so they can use their own plugins and whatnot. So I don’t have much use on my end outside of my own drum videos and demo mixes.
@ If I end up with a track that’s got too much bleed on it, I’ll run Silencer on it with minimal settings and print it, they everyone comments how great my tracks sound when it’s just that I did this one little pre-processing thing before I sent them out hahaha!!
@ nice
I did this 50 YEARS ago on my Hayman kit ( company bought by Drum Workshop I believe) and as I was a young drummer ( 18 years old) old 'jazzers' said I was wrong. Chris Slade (AC/DC) came to watch me play and asked about my set up, and we had a health discussion about drumming:0) Here I am, 68 years old, still gigging, still carting my kit around, still killin' it with the youngsters..... And no bad back !! Don't listen to others, listen to your body, and rock your kit into old age,.. Just like me. Ps, I play Pearl now, more hardware options :0)
Sounds absolutely SICK! The full song name is "Break Me with U".
I love the casket case 😭
hi. it s too good. what you. explain. supper thank you

Wearing the bracelet 😊😊😊😊😊
Amazing 😊😊
Good content. I play drums as well and want to start playing with click.
@@bperkins8706 playing to a click for the first time can be a challenge. It’s best to take things slow and simple until you become really comfortable with it. From there you can start to try more elaborate things and push tempos up.
Amazing such a beast behind the drums
Super!😊
Nice! I loved seeing your IEM mix setup. I'm always curious how each drummer goes about that. 🤘🏽
@@DrummerMatMan Thanks. I’d you’re interested in also did a video about how I run backing tracks with that IEM setup. ua-cam.com/video/DTwdCz4sEyg/v-deo.htmlsi=O2RIctSi71q20pvJ

@@carlak8419 thanks man. Plenty of fun videos up on my channel.
I am currently using a pretty similar setup, but also providing monitoring to the band. But Im running in this issue: Using OVER EAR phones the sound of all instruments are fine, but using IN EAR phones my electric drumkit sounds very bad. Any thought? and which in ear are you using?
@@JoseSilva-bd3xz my in-ears are Ultimate Ears UE11’s. If you’re getting a difference in audio quality it could be a few things. Check all your cables first. Then check how you have everything connected. If you’re electronic drums are being output by the headphone jack on the module the sound quality will be very different than if you run them out of the main L & R outputs. Feel free to write me directly and perhaps send some photos of your setup.
Just saw at this video and it's pretty similar to my band's setup but for songs without backing tracks. We just generate a click track in a DAW and export only the click on the left channel (the same channel as the click for our backing tracks) so it's mechanically the same as running a backing track and we don't need to mess with a metronome or anything like that during the show, just hit play on the track like we would if we had backing tracks. It also doesn't need any additional equipment and you don't need to take up two channels for clicks.
@@richardsmith1335 I’ve done that as well.
Amazing see u in September
The high end from the mic in the room. Whatever its activating is so distracting.
I hear a resonance around 530 Hz that I find super distracting. An EQ notching that frequency out would fix it. The high end doesn’t bother me as much; to me it sounds like crickets outside during a summer night. Using close mic instead of the in-built camera mic would probably solve both of these issues
played for years with a click. Love it. Takes all the frustration of some members who think you're playing too slowly, or quickly, away. I've literally had band mates turn to me as if to say "pick it up" when i have a click banging in my eardrum 😆 and we've played this song 300 times to this click 😆 only for them to remember and realize it's just them, we've agreed on these tempos for the songs after much experimentation. I could've setup up a midi controller to increment the tempo up and down if we'd wanted too. But yeah, it removes arguing over perceived tempo issues, and that's pretty big with a bunch of musicians. The only downside is that I also believe there is something lost in live-performed music without the human-tempo-inconsistencies (usually catalyzed by the musician's perceived "energy" of the music at the time... or liquor, whichever comes first). Oh, and I was happy to be the sole click-keeper. It would've been nice if one or more of them also listened to it, but i get it, and it works just the same, except for their pushing and pulling, which no one else notices but me for the most part. I queued the songs and handled playback, so it makes sense.
Perfectly said!

I can't believe I never really thought about all these simple adjustments after having played so many years, my back often hurts after playing so I'll definitely be trying this out. Thanks!!
Might be a little hard for placement with your Tom’s, but your back will thank you.
