Making videos about electric things in Korea that are worth your time watching.
I tried "Coding Computer" laptop toy for kids.
No, it can't run Linux, Python or even Vim... at least it mimics the look of Scratch. Can this "laptop" be a good source of programming for younger learners? Only one way to find out.

You may think Atom laptops were all just boring netbooks, but there were some interesting Atom devices in Korea. 🪙 Join the Benefactor's Club for just a dollar a month! 구독했습니다. 국내에는 이런 영상 만드는 분 없었는데 좋네요 ㅎㅎ
응원 감사드립니당!
Silvestre eres tu ?
i can confirm i learned how to code after watching a fox story
It's time to hack this thing and make it run Doom
i clicked on the video thinking a new music player came out
dankpods got a korean version now
Install alphine bro please i wanna see if its usable
Don't ask what happened with the coding computer
I discovered your channel, and it seems interesting❤️
Bro thats a zune. No way thats a ipod clone
I like the novelty of this design, but I thought the colorful block at the end was detachable. There was potential for this to do more
It probably might be a PS/2, serial or USB mouse but they used a pinout different from the typical Mini USB interface. It has an optical sensor so it clearly has to be using some sort of serial interface to communicate
Simply having an optical sensor doesn't mean that the mouse has to communicate serially. And the USB connector could be a red herring altogether. But since a typical USB connector (even a basic USB 3.0 one) only has 4 pins it does severely limit the options, even if power doesn't need to be provided over that connection. Assuming the communication is in fact serial, it could still be I2C or SPI.
You got it right! The mouse had a chip that communicates in SPI. You can check out the pictures on the latest community post and on Patreon!
Nice thought, thanks for satisfying my curiosity. :) FWIW a USB host is not a USB peripheral, but some devices do have OTG capable interface controllers.
Ah good to know, thank you for the information!
Was that a fucking bong?
Now that’s what I call a nugget 🫰🏼
Tf are they doing with that bong lmao
Just write the mouse drivers with the coding computer
Do those animals have Bongs😂😂😂
This "coding" laptop is a disappointment.
That thing is way beyond a disappointment, it's literally a case of false advertising. VTech made toy computers for a while between mid-1980 and the early 90s and those were actually real computers, albeit built on then outdated tech. They're hardly the finest examples of educational tech, but you could write simple BASIC programs on some of them.
Replace it's inside with a real computer mouse inside, and use it for work (like video editing)
Try opening it up
Yup, might be the best way to see what this thing is made of
it didnt have RGB thats why its slow
OLPC at least let you unlock the computer
Can you put a custom screen in here, and put some coding on this laptop so it can handle a BIOS?
0:54 don't worry there's enough people to label programmers as redditors soyjaks so that marketing will never take off 👍
Nice product design, terrible software. The UI looks so unresponsive you can't tell most of the time if the problem is from the screen or the software.
Can it run Doom?
