Really enjoyed watching your thru-hike and joined your channel. Congratulations on a beautiful but tough hike. I thru-hiked the AT in 2020, and would recommend mixing that one in before the PCT. Just more resupply opportunities and water sources throughout, which requires less weight to carry. Plus, a lot more social.

Finally, you should consider taking on the Eastern Continental Trail (ECT). That one will keep you occupied for a long time. Please do come back to the USA. You are a credit to Australia and your personality is a much needed breath of fresh air. I toast you, sir, with a just opened bottle of Mountain Dew, or Pepsi, Coca-Cola, Dr. Pepper, Cherry Coke, Fanta Grape, 7-Up, Sprite…..anything but beer as I am not much for beer. Happy NewYear and all the best in 2024 as you (hopefully) prepare to tackle the remaining two giants on the American Triple Crown of hiking.

Great vids Ben! You mentioned Catherine to Barry Saddle took you over 8 hours. I'm wondering how you compare the difficulty and time to the section between Mt Mcdonald and Chesters Yard? Also, how many hours a day were you averaging?

No I did not leave the beer can, bear spray or $3000 worth of gear in my pack on the ground. It was clearly a skit, and if that extraordinarily somehow went over your head and you're triggered, seek help

It’s funny back in the day I used to rock climb and mountain climb in Wyoming. We were totally clueless when it came to bears and especially grizzly bears. We took no special precautions and had no bear spray or firearms. We were very stupid but also lucky as hell. This was a long time ago. Great video and the scenery was extremely beautiful. Take care

What’s a great ski year becomes a hard CDT hike. I am headed out to ski in Colorado the end of February and I hope they have a massive snow year but then I am returning in the end of August to hike the Colorado Trial. It should be nice and clear by then. That most certainly looks like a slog. You’re getting it. Thanks for sharing

What month and day of year did you start your hike.

I am surprised you did not get the offset version of the Duplex. I have the Duplex and never have any issues with condensation except when it’s pouring rain out. I am surprised to hear your having issues since it’s so dry out there. I hike mostly on the East coast of the U.S. and it can be super wet and humid. I have maybe 1,200 miles in my Duplex and it’s been very good. Take care

Hey just found your channel, looking the videos! And also the stats during your narration 👍 I am debating doing the South Island TA this summer, (prior to the GDT 🇨🇦 on July) I'm time poor, so my plan is to hitchhike as much of the roadwalks as possible to more focus on hiking in the forest. Not sure if you remember but what sort of percentage of the south was on road? And of that what was hitchable? Thanks! Greg
