The mine level was one of the more forgettable ones. Easy boss is a contributing factor. I do remember the dark rooms where its easy to fall and and die. I think there was an extra life but i'm not sure that those are around in this version? Been too long. The one with the red and green light generators i think have to be turned on in a separate level but i never bothered with that as a kid. Infinite time will do that to you. I also didnt do the canary mary thing until i got to the level she flies to. I remember that the first versions of detonators or blasting machines like what we see banjo turn into were actually human powered electrical generators that make a spark to ignite black powder. Or whatever. They're actually create dangerous voltage levels which could probably kill someone if they had their hands completing the circuit. Not that that is particularly common given that it weighs a ton and people playing around with it would have their hands occupied by pressing it down. Maybe the reason banjo gets hurt when not attached to a fuse is because he's getting shocked? Though that raises some concerns about the swimming.

I had absolutely no idea the jinjos were randomized. Why in the world would they do that? Oh well, it seems i was right. Definitely bigger game here and also easier than banjo kazooie. I did actually complete this one as a kid. Crazy, I even beat mario the lost levels before that.

One thing that I remember as a kid was getting lost in this game for weeks. Just couldn't find the next level. I was a bit mystified that you kicked open one door as the statue but not the other one. But knowing old games, intuition like that goes out the window. But if i had to guess, the next move of shimmying along ledges is probably past that second door in mayahem whatever. Wowee, what a game. And commercial free at that! Pretty grim ending but I think it fit really well. I enjoyed seeing the story unfold. A few notes - pareidolia is when people give meaning and assign patterns to chaotic inputs. A classic example is seeing faces in wall textures or what have you. I remember seeing a think a NYT article talking about it like it was some rare medical condition of an artist which made reading about it quite underhwelming. But anyway, I think it fits quite well with how we interpret Signalis. Not sure how the butterflies themselves fit in, but hey. I do find it interesting how language was used in this game. While the usage of widely spoken languages is reminiscent of a nuclear waste disposal site warning ( especially pertinent since ariane seems to be dying of radiation poisoning, which at a certain point corrodes the body's ability to have painkillers work ), the curious thing is that often the words were not translations of each other. For some menu items this was the case, but not always. For example, during the falkner fight you see the character 死 meaning death envelop the screen, but you see achtung meaning danger or warning just as often as stirb meaning die. During the "this page intentionally left blank" you see 零 which means 0 or just nothing. That one may actually be used as a translation for this practice in documents but I don't know enough to say. Most interesting, though, is the character 歸*that makes an appearance right after you get stabbed in the eye. This can mean a few things - to return, to give back to, to converge, to depend on, to belong to. These are all meanings which seem applicable in their own way to describe what is going on in the story at that very moment. It very much could not have been in any other language to have the same effect. Which is pretty dang cool. *(it is a traditional character, meaning this is what you see outside of china. The simplified set which i'm more familiar with uses 归. I'm not sure if this affects the lore of the game.)

I'm glad you made it back to signalis. Cool stuff I would say s big theme of this game is cycles. One from calling days that, but also doing the start over again. There is evidence to suggest that this second run is a new elster which maybe has been happening so long that adler pushed enough of them to make a cushion of corpses back. White body elster having different names and stuff in the ship computer would track with that. Also, when you inspected the bottle it said it was smelling salts or something. Considering that you picked it up near when what's her name was passed out in the other room i think you maybe should have used it then. That may be why we saw dont forget your promise and the difficulty is way harder.

Speaking of, the big miner lady lore entry said that she was armored everywhere except for the face so presumedly elster knows this and chooses not to shoot when the angle would not reach the face. So janky without that knowledge. As for the fetish object, I believe they are using an old colonial term. Actually french, etymologically in english, but it has a few hops on the linguistic path. Rather than being sexual in nature, as is the connotation in english, in this usage it means an object that is ascribed some supernatural power. So a Talisman or Amulet that is said to stave off the evil eye would be called a fetish object. I think this is an apt translation because in the story the replikas are based off of real people who have their own preferences stuff, which is a guarded secret because they are treated like, well, machines. In historical context of europeans seeing various african societies as lesser, so too can we see this human need to, like, have any kind of mental stimulation at all as something alien and primitive. It's pretty dystopian to think that they have it down to such a science to keep specific people from going insane with as few resourced as possible simply through trial and error over time. But its okay because they have hard skin.

It would be awesome to see this game implement some kind of among us style card swiping mechanic so running through doors the first time would be precise enough to be thrilling. So far worldbuilding is still interesting.

German and Chinese is quite the combination. The world seems pretty interesting so let's see how it turns out. I remember there being a suggestion for only women to be astronauts with the stated reason being that they wouldn't be distracted by sex. Not that that would be true, but I can see an authoritarian space faring regime to come to a similar conclusion. Also mensa just means cafeteria in Italian but that's probably not so helpful this late.

I quite liked this one. It feels like an accurate depiction of the kinds of mental illness that mental health professionals sometimes simply decide not to tell you you have. This is something that I personally related to. In one way we might interpret that line as its not right to speculate on the specific diagnosis of our protagonist, but I think that sort of thing just perpetuates a stigma. The most resonant of course was the depiction of psychosis. Visual hallucinations during the night get worse as with less input there is more room for the brain to fill in what is being seen. I can't personally speak to the obsessive compulsive behaviors, but the undoing of steps and unwillingness to change anything about the placement of things in the room strikes me as this. As for this specific story, I think we are meant to conclude that the protagonist has a severe milk allergy. The scene with the mother injecting something and shouting to not drink milk again makes the most sense as being a depiction of an epi pen after anaphylactic shock. That would explain the reaction the mother has at seeing the protagonist buy milk. It's such a compelling depiction because while at the core this is an act that is about caring for someone, the specific way that it is done points to a rough relationship spurred on by, well, what it's like to live with someone who is super mentally ill. On one hand, she is concerned about how the medication is going, but on the other she wishes it never had to happen in the first place. Our protagonist was able to go to te store finally, but not for something healing. Quite similar to how our protagonist has a bad dream after not having any dreams for a while.

I had a lot of fun with limbo years ago. Great stuff. There is an bonus section where the whole screen is black and you have to navigate based in sound alone which sucks though. So maybe stop there. And don't go for the 5 deaths or less achievement

What a game. I was wondering when exactly the dating part was going to come in. Still feels more like a creation myth anyway. As for the personalities, it is certainly a reflection of your choices. What makes you a skeptic is when you choose to distrust both the narrator and the princess. By bringing the knife you are signaling that you are thinking the princess is worth being killed, but then you hesitate in the realm of uncertainty by talking to the princess to see if she is truly an evil. Making these choices changes the princess too. By being so calculating, the princess becomes so as well. This is why in the skeptic path she kills you so much more competently than in the damsel path. In the damsel path you just blindly trusted the princess by not bringing the weapon. The game reacted to your expectation of the princess not being dangerous and so the princess lacks knife skills. Similarly, you get the paranoid path because you lock the princess in the basement. Presumedly the game expects you to come to this decision because you thought getting too close to the princess is dangerous. So she develops the supernatural power to shut down your organs. I guess that is the supposed to be egged on by the possibility that she really could destroy the world somehow. This was pretty clearly set up with the first killing too. There was a moment you could doubt she was dead. I have no doubt that if you do doubt it, she will stop being dead. The beastly transformation seem to be the logical conclusion of having no method to escape from the chains since you chose not to bring the knife. This one act of gnawing was the seed that the game expects the player to see her as a feral creature built on instinct and focusing on survival. The focus on survival is when the hunted shows up, and of course the options being listening to your senses and acting to survive.

The mirror section makes me think that the protagonist is going through stages of decomposition, from bloating to withering away. The fact that the princess changes depending on your choices regardless of prior knowledge (like with the choosing knife not choosing knife changing the tone before she sees you plus the way she kills you) makes it seem like the princess is a manifestation of the protagonist. But what exactly the hand entity is is super unclear.

Super interesting to see your perspective on this game. I like it a lot. Great how the smitten route made the princess bustier. Also how she seemed to know you had or didn't have the knife before seeing it. For spooky season I suppose there is still Who's Lila, right?

Alrighty folks, I have to relate another story about chris because it would be criminal to leave it at the last one. So anyway I was visiting my sister who has this 3 month old niece, right? She wanted to get her hair done so I had to take care of the kiddo for a bit. Not my favorite but manageable. So I'm sitting there in the hair salon waiting area and who other than Chris walks in. Even though all he did was pick up a magazine I was nervous as hell seeing where it was going to go this time. I guess it must have been rubbing off of my niece because she started crying and just couldn't stop. I hated attracting that attention. Pretty soon chris came right up. He started running his hands through her hair and asking what was wrong. I said she was probably hungry or something not that I'm the expert or anything. But to my surprise he put down his magazine and started breastfeeding her immediately. I mean it worked so kudos to him. Super chill about it and then we parted ways. I guess you just never know what someone is going through. Someone with a heart of gold can have one bad day and then that's all you see.

When it comes to bullet bull blue shell item pools I think it would make the most sense just to stay right behind the other person until the very end right? I used to do local multiplayer of double dash and one guy always farmed boxes by parking over them and hey that strategy did work often enough. The newer ones definitely have a shorter timer for bullet bills in first place though.

Just for the sake of the other people viewing this video I have to mention that I actually saw chris at a grocery store a while back. I told him that it was cool to finally meet him in person but I didn't want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for a picture or anything but he was like "Oh, like you're doing now?" I was taken aback and all I could say was "Huh?" But then he just kept cutting me off going "Huh? Huh? Huh?" over and over again doing this thing with his hands where he closed it on beat but in my face about it. I just got on with my shopping and walked away but I could hear him chuckle to himself as I left. I thought that was going to be the end of it but I ran into him again at the checkout. He had like 15 candy bars that he grabbed but didn't put on the belt thing to be scanned for a long time like he was just going to walk out with that huge handful of stuff. The checkout lady was really nice about it and just said "Excuse me sir, but you have to pay for those first" Chris just pretended not to hear her so she had to repeat, and eventually he relented. But then when she started scanning the same bar multiple timed he stopped her and asked her to scan each one individually because of "electrical infetterance" which was accompanied with a wink directly at me, to my surprise. And when it finally came down to paying he kept interrupting her when she tried to say the price by yawning really loud. Great example of separating the art from the artist. I mean you watch the stream and its phenomenal gameplay very gripping. Just don't meet your heros I guess.

It was cool seeing the new generation but I fail to see exactly what the benefit would be in keeping all of the black colored pokemon in "separate but equal" boxes.

I don't watch jeopardy so I don't know if there is usually a phrenology category but Chris's confidence was absolutely earned. They have got to get this guy on archeologist expeditions or something because he knew exactly what heritage that skull had immediately. Saved the game for sure.

If you can say one thing about chris in this stream is that he knows what he is talking about. On one hand this translated well to answering the jeopardy questions. On the other hand, his word choice led me to the wikipedia list of slurs to understand what he was talking about. I didn't even know there were that many for puerto ricans but damn he got them, using them grammatically correct and everything.

I know that the 10 minutes where he advocates for state allocation of girlfriends is a lot to get through but I promise that it is a major departure from the rest of this wholesome, quality stream.
