Forging A Chef Knife From Damascus Steel And Ivory!
Today we are forging a damascus steel chef knife! This one features a hand-forged integral bolster, and is modern take on the traditional Japanese chef knives! It also features an imitation ivory handle, that I hand-carved as seen! At the end I even use the damascus chef knife for some cutting demos!
If you would like to commission a custom knife/sword from me, reach out at ianzforge@gmail.com!
Thank you so much for checking out the video, let me know what you thought in the comments, or if there's anything you would like to see me do in the future! God bless! - Ian

water quenching is meant for specific steel types, when theres oil, air, and salt quenching types out there and some dont do well with other methods, to much misconception of water quenching though, its also nice to add a tiny pool of water to your anvil when finishing the hammer portion as it blasts of slag when you strike it needing next to no wipe offs and better visibility

Steak is one of those things where there’s a ton of nuance in how you can cook it. I think that’s what’s up with these comments- everyone agrees that this is cooked through at least passably, but there’s a number of techniques that can be used to take your grilling to the next level. Also absolutely stunning knife.

You're doing good man. I'd have stumbled on the split admittedly. I'd be far too fresh to do anything of this speed and magnitude without extra hands/knowledge around.

Forged in Fire would've been great if they tried to create so much suspense and or drama. Like, it's a show about making knives and swords and shit, I'm already in. Trying to pump up the drama just takes away from the knife making, which is the only reason I'm interested. That and some of the dumb or pointless challenges. Like "Go make a knife you take pride in, next destroy it by trying to chop a steel bumper in half". Who's that for?
