Hark at you using all them big word's...🤣😂🤣😂 Lovely caulies Brian...👍🐮🐮🐮
big words? and it's not even pay day. lol. i used plenty chicken manure pellets for the first time. it paid dividends.................brian
Hi Brian, took notes while watching, nice cauliflower. It's a pity or maybe you have tried to Espalier the tomatoes or angle them once they have got to a certain height.
that's a thought to work on next year. cheers ady...............brian
Full of information as always, life is too short as we are finding out.
full of ideas, but i haven't got the body to carry them out any more. lol...................brian
@@briansgardenandpolytunnel8172 👍❤️❤️😁❤️❤️👍
My toms are half the height this year compared to last year, bloody weather! I love fuchsias, as did my Dad before me! Great cauli Brian, hoping mine with curd up soon.
it's surprising how many people love fuchsias. they've been a passion of mine for a while now. as for tomatoes......i agree the weather is a big factor in this years growth rate, but i'm also blaming compost mixes in this. for too long we've relied on the peat. now it's disappearing we are adding more coco coir and additives like perlite.i now recognise the importance of grit or sharp sand in the mix. the original john innes mix was 7 parts loam, 3 parts peat ans 2 parts sharp sand by volume. perlite was an extra added by nurserymen in the old days. for some strange reason gardeners have forgotten the need for drainage and started using more perlite etc. i feel my theory is worth testing next year.......................brian
@@briansgardenandpolytunnel8172 I'll be using peat based composts for as long as possible, especially now that the ban is very unlikely to happen this year - if at all!
Hi Brian like your attitude its what Val keeps telling me , hope you had your lot of hospital now I know I have take care my friend.
trhere's nothing more soul destroying than being stuck somewhere you can't eat the food and you're bored. the fact i can't smoke doesnt bother me, but the fact i can't open up my polytunnel does. i never know when i get my next leg infection. i have more time on my plate to put out videos now. i hope you are both ok.................brian
Some nice cauliflower there Bri. Take ir steady I'll see you on the next one
i think it's the chicken manure pellets that helped, plenty nitrogen, bob...................brian
Well Brian those cuttings are doing amazing, makes you wonder why we bother growing more than one seed when we can take strong cuttings. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but it’s lovely to hear the kids in the background. I’m not sure what the he’ll is going on with compost and soil bought in, everyone’s having issues. When people say it’s a bad year and things aren’t going well they should see how you are doing and growing and not falling back on wo is me. 👍👍 your a star and a legend Brian keep up the great work and inspiration, Ali 🌞🥵🇨🇦 Just look at those stellar cauliflower 👍👍
i'm too old in the tooth to worry about anything now. over the years i've witnessed too many trials and tribulations. compost is behind most gardeners problems. since the lack of peat gardeners have converted to coconut coir. there's still a vital element missing. grit or coarse sand in the mix. i'm going back to basics......................brian
Very nice Cauliflowers Brian, keep up the good work, Take care
i'm very happy with the caulis this year, ron. i put it down to the chicken manure vpellets and the lack of cabbage white butterflies. hope all is going well with you and susan................brian
Sorry to butt in but I’m just saying I hope you and Susan re both well Ronald I miss your updates but totally understand the absence. Prayers and best wishes for you both, Ali 💕
Good tomato cuttings, and lovely harvest for your tea Brian. Nice one mate ATB Woody 👍
Looking champion marra you and the veg lol quick daft question Brain, In my fron garden a have a massive fuchsia (like privet size) Do you know if you can successfully graft different types to the main stem (double flower, trailing types) sure a remember seeing something years ago about making standards.they were about 5 to 6 ft tall ones the fella made
i can't see why they can't be grafted, but standards are mainly created from certain named varieties of fuchsia. generally an upright plant with lush growth. i found it makes a stronger standard by using 3 or 4 shoots growing together inter-twining them. i would still use a cane to promote a straight centre stem. i bought my new stock of plants late in the season. best to start early with cuttings for this purpose...................brian
Great stuff Brian. Your brassica are looking super
Beautiful harvest, Brian. Perfect cauliflower! Nice to hear re Ronald.
normally it's only the odd cauli in every batch i plant, but this time it's all of them. i reckon it's the variety i chose. "orkney ". ron is taking time out to look after susan. a true gentleman................brian
Thanks great video
❤
Nice cauli Brian . When did you plant your seeds. My caulis are still seedling
i think i sowed my caulis way back in early january direct in the polytunnel with no heat. they were called "orkney". i planted tnem out mid march and they just took off...............brian
You have a lovely pair of cauliflowers Brian and thank you for the update on Ronald. Lovely to see your hedgehog. What was it munching on? 🦔Happy gardening, Terry King.
the hedgehog was eating dog biscuits. the evolving ecology in my garden nust be right. he's a regular visitor. my wife calls him usain. if you've ever seen one run across the road then you'll know why. lol................brian

Nice one Brain 👍👍👍
Hydrangeas looking beautiful Brian 👍. Glad you had a good Father’s Day. Oh I’ve not tried magnolia cuttings if you do them now I’ll go try some. I take hydrangea cuttings they are super easy in soil or water. Have a fab week, Ali 🌧️🌧️🇨🇦
cheers ali.the main thing is to use a poly bag and keep out of sunlight....................brian
Hi Brian I love propagating new plants, I have done some recently but they have not rooted yet. Scott is a great guy 👌 I hope the new plant survives the rat. I hope my cauliflower turns out like yours Brian, what a beauty.💪👍👌
we'll see soon enough whether it's the variety of cauli or the use of chicken manure pellets that helped the success. i also kept them well watered. any stress and it's game over...............brian
@@briansgardenandpolytunnel8172 I've been watering my cheesy F1 daily as it's in a smallish container, it's looking pretty good so far.🤞👍👌
cheesey is a great tasting cauli. it's the slugs that love it too................brian
@@briansgardenandpolytunnel8172 so far they like the greyhound cabbage more.🤞👍
A great video update Brian, VERY NICE cauliflower and cabbage, things are looking up for you Brian, Take care my friend.
Hi brian couple nice cauliflower you got there, over the years ive enjoyed you taking cuttings and with very good results.
propagation is a passion of mine. it's always plants for free. definately growing those " orkney " caulis again. i've a project coming up to try and save my half hardy perennials over winter. more news later on that one. the most important thing for now is how are you both doing?.................brian
@@briansgardenandpolytunnel8172 we doing ok Brian fitting in some work and some allotment time in round trips to hospital and treatments but can hopefully see light at the end now nhs have been great even tho they stretched.

i thought i WAS safe, mike, til i was rushed to hospital with double pneumonia. i didn't even feel ill. as soon as i was home i couldn't wait to get in the polytunnel to pot up a few tomatos, lol.'.................brian
Looking good Brian, Take care
cheers ron and susan.yes. you're right ron. the first thing i did when i got out of hospital was to check the polytunnel. lol..................brian
Hey Brian, I wondered where you were hiding. I hope you are feeling better now.. That compost is looking better than some you get now, a friend gave me some tomato plants and I'm surprised that anything could grow in it, I had to shake off as much as I could before repotting them.. You really are making the most of your planting area, well done Brian...🐮🐮🐮
there's more to do yet, manda. i found a few spaces. unnfortunately, i'm running out of larger pots but i'll remedy that soon...............brian
Hi Brian happy your out of hospital my friend and home to your lovely growing space which will do you a world of good
agreed.......until the next time i'm admitted. i didn't even feel ill at the time, but there are people worse off than me...............brian
Don't think you need to play catch up Brian, you look in a good place and everything looks fresh. ♻️Happy gardening, Terry King.
i'm always in a good place when i get out of hospital. theres no place like home. one thing for ME to remember. there's always someone worse off than yourself....................brian
@briansgardenandpolytunnel8172 definitely Brian and my wife wants home too.
@@terrykingsallotmentgardening i can fully sympathise with your wife, terry. visiting is one thing. being at home with your family is the strongest need of all. i don't know the extent of your wifes problems, but i do wish for her an improvement in health and a speedy return home...................brian

thank you ali. unfortunately, it was my second stay in hospital in 2 months. unfortunately, i can't eat the food. that's why i lost so much weight and my daughter was worried. i still say there are people worse off than me....................brian
