    Do you write down what you’ve eaten so you can see what gets your stomach going?. I’m on day 10 without medication and I’m having a really hard time. Still got 6 more days to go till I get the bravo and then while the test is going so like about a month without medication and I’m so stressed out already

    Have y’all seen the latest theory. Acid reflux can be too little acid, hypochlorhydia. Because the symptoms can be the same, acid reflex, they misdiagnose it as too much acid. The theory is that the LES (sphincter) doesn’t work if you have too little acid and so the acid you do have leaks up to the oesophagus. Look it up. Reasons are, if you’re older obviously body functions aren’t as efficient, or you have taken PPIs a long time, are under chronic stress, maybe other reasons. So you need to be treated for that! Which is easy. I had the Nissons and it slipped straight away but they didn’t discover it till years later after a Barium swallow. And haven’t had it done again because the surgeon had gone etc etc.

    Question: when the doctor went in to do the surgery and realized that your hiatal hernia was much bigger than previously expected, why did he continue with performing the TIF? From my understanding, the TIF is only successful for those with hiatal hernias less than 2cm

    • @omar212yy
      @omar212yy Місяць тому

      Yes doctor tell me that if less 2cm we can do TIF if not amd it large than 2cm not remmmocoed for me

    You werent able to burp that is an important information. Its called Abelchia or R-CPD a new disorder and also causes reflux. Maybe you should look into that? Swallowing air without beeing able to release it can cause the lower sphincter to open.

    I just got mine inserted seven hours ago. I've had bad reflux ever since I got diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2019. I guess it causes some gastrol laziness in your stomach, Anyway, I've never felt like I've ever had food lodged in my esophagus or any kind of blockage until they inserted this thing and all day long it feels like I have a big chunk of something in there were the device and it is painful to swallow anything.

    Hey!! I had the TIF suregery with Hiatal hernia repair in 2023. I was told everything went fine. But, ive had swallowing issues. The drs did 3 barrium swallow tests on me. And i dont know why they lay you on your right side to drink some thick, nasty tasting stuff. But the test proved i did have trouble with swallowing. Its been a year. Im still having issues. My stomach burns like it's on fire about 90% of the time. The pressure in my chest and between my shoulder blades is awful. I have shortness of breath. Im 57 and keep 2 grandkids. Its hard to keep up with them. The drs dont know what the problem is. They just continue to refer me from the surgeon to my GI dr. Im still on a soft foods diet and have started losing my hair. I thought this was going to fix everything. But, im still eating a bottle of tums every 3 days. Not Joking !!! If any one has any ideas suggestions, please help. Wishing you the very best with your procedure thank you. I have received more information from you than my drs.

      your acid is too weak. That results in malnutrition and hairloss.Having strong acid helps closing the sphincter.

      Get a food allergy test. An elimination diet might bring relief. The top six culprits are grains, eggs, dairy, soy, tree nuts and seafood.

    It’s 3 weeks since my last surgery. 3/13/24 My first surgery was in 2019 and it came back. This time another surgeon did it and put a mesh in. I’m still on a liquid diet. I try food and it gets stuck. They told me I could feel better but @ week 3-4 food wouldn’t go down and I’d have to go back to liquids. Water affected me too. I have an appt tomorrow and I still need pain pills. Thank you for sharing your story ♥️

    I had a chest x-ray for a consistent cough and my chest was clear but they saw a hiatal hernia about 5mm and dr. was not too worried about it. But i am worried, but as I did my research I found that my consistent cough was from too much acid in my system, so I switched my eating plan and my cough almost disappeared. I have to watch what I eat now. I read that exercises like planks and side planks and bridges to straighten the area around the hernia.

    The operation sounds pretty awful. I am on a waiting list to have this op here in Tenerife. I have been taking “stomach protection pills” for twenty years and since a bad few months when I was consistently with burning acid reflux and nothing working, I am now able to get relief using one or two Nexium a day. The doctor days that if I can cope with Nexium and now having less reflux and problems with my hernia it is better not to have the operation. However I am still on the list to go ahead with it. I’ve had this problem for getting on for 20 years and don’t really want to have to take two pills of Nexium every day for the rest of my life! Some days it doesn’t prevent burping and acid pain. I don’t know whether to cancel the operation or not. What advice would you give? Should I go ahead with the surgery?

    I suffered with acid reflux for decades and was eventually prescribed Omeprazole, which I took for about five years. However, I learn't that long-term use of the drug can lead to osteporosis and I didn't like that prospect. Therefore, I discussed with my GP, my long-term use of Omeprazole and the side effects thereof. Consequently, a gastroscopy showed a problem with the oesophageal sphincter, i.e not closing properly. It also showed an additional problem - the presence of Barrett's Syndrome. The recommendation was that I should have a 360° Fundoplication, which was carried out in 2017. The procedure went perfectly well and I felt fine, although having to subsist on Consomme for two weeks was a real drag! The biggest problem was that I, in common with other patients, cannot belch. That, in itself is possibly worse than dealing with the acid reflux because with every mouthfull of food, I swallow air, which has to pass through the digestive tract, and that is the most painful thing with constant bloating and the most embarrassing thing with the constant need to fart! A couple of months ago - 2023 - I decided to approach my GP again about the constant pain and difficulty swallowing. A gastroscopy and barium swallow test showed that over time, a real restriction through the oesophageal sphincter had developed. As a result, I shall be in for an unwrap and 270° rewrap mid January, which will allow me swallow food much easier nand finally, to be able to belch once more!

    I don't understand why people. Like us with hh always get underrated from doctors every time... When hh is a life changing and a problem. And the worst is we are in 2023 almost 2024and still doctors says that hh is nothing to be worry. Fuck AND I'M FORM ITALY AND THE SAME TREATMENT DOCTORS HAVE FOR US WITH HH IN ITALY...so the problem is why hh is not considering like that big a deal when is a big deal to have it. And take it off here in Italy they dont want to do surgery

    Gurl! The shoulder pain was horrifying! No one told me why my shoulders were hurting so bad! Day 2 a nurse said Ohhh that’s from the gas due to the Laproscopic surgery. its a rough surgery, recovery wise. It took me at least 4 weeks before I felt well enough to work again.

    My common sense tells me a haital hernia repair is enough to fix these issues. I don't see why the TIF or the linx or the other fundoplications are necessary.
