Local MTB Trails in Chula Vista, CA
There are so many awesome trails located in the city of Chula Vista. They range from the very mellow to pretty technical. The best part is most of the trail networks connect so you can take a really extended ride.
This evening, I just wanted to get in a quick after-work ride so I hit a couple of my favorites. Here is what they look like.

The Santa Cruz Heckler SL-Yea, it's really that good!
Переглядів 276Місяць тому
With over 100 miles now on my new Heckler SL, I am confident in saying that this bike has improved my riding significantly. Because of the enduro style geometry and the DH tires, I am much more confident downhill and with the pedal assist e-motor, I no longer avoid the big climbs even with the slack geometry and aggressive tires. Because of this, I am now riding more and therefore getting in be...

Carpuride-It WORKS!!

With a bit of skepticism, I decided to order the Carpuride Carplay system for my 2012 BMW GS Adventure. I really didn't expect it to work, but much to my pleasant surprise, it worked beautifully! The mounting was a simple RAM ball and arm install and the wiring is a simple hot and ground wire to which can be mounted directly to the battery, a canbus, or a pre-wired ignition switch. The bluetoot...

"Pretty Straightforward" Terra Acoustics Front Speaker Install in a Jeep Gladiator

I found Terra Acoustics (www.terraacoustics.com) quite by chance, but after some research I thought this might be a good compromise upgrade to the sound system in my Gladiator. How long is the drive from High 78 to the trailhead. How's the cell service around the trailhead. My friend (JIN FANG) has been missing for 3month. They found Jin's travel partner, a man named John Root Fitzpatrick, body & truck in Harper Canyon. We have questions about the circumstances around their death. Can you answer those question.

    • @motleymeanderings
      @motleymeanderings 9 місяців тому

      I’m actually somewhat familiar with the MP case, Jin Fang. I volunteer with Search & Rescue and have been involved with ongoing search efforts. Jin’s backpack was found near the 78, but we think it was washed down the canyon by the rains. It’s about two or three miles up the canyon to the trailhead from the 78. The cell coverage is really bad at the trailhead. The truck was on the other end of Harper Canyon, near Pinion Wash. We think they hiked out through Harper canyon instead of going back up Pinion. He was found near the trailhead of Harper Canyon. We will be searching the area again. Our K9s can only be in the heat for short periods, so we’re breaking up our search efforts into morning efforts. It should start cooling soon out there. I’m sorry for the loss of your friend.

    • @slmt999-p6n
      @slmt999-p6n 9 місяців тому

      Thanks for these details & for your efforts to locate Jin. Since Jin went missing on July 22, this searching is the first glimmer of hope that Jin may finally be found & brought home to her family. How was your team able to tell it was Jin’s backpack? Did it have markings or ID in it? Most hikers who go to Harper Canyon to do the loop trail get to the trailhead via Old Kane Springs Rd to the E. Looking at a map, Pinyon Wash runs S from Hwy 78. Does your team think that JRF got from his truck to the trailhead via Pinyon Wash or some other route? Would appreciate it if you could clarify,

    • @motleymeanderings
      @motleymeanderings 9 місяців тому

      @@slmt999-p6n We think they went in through Pinion Wash based on the extensive damage to the truck. The squeeze and heart attack hill are along that route and they’re both very challenging for a stock vehicle. I can’t give many details on the investigation side as it’s an ongoing LE investigation but items in the backpack indicated that the backpack belonged to Jin. We will continue to search.

      @@motleymeanderings Great video of your 4-day trip up Harper Canyon. Really enjoyed it. If JRF's truck went thru the Squeeze & Heart Attack Hill, you would think there would be dark blue paint on the rocks at those 2 locations, especially given the extensive damage to the truck. Did anyone check the rocks for paint? From your description, it sounds like the truck was more or less at this location: 33.105531, -116.288387 Am I in the ballpark? It would be helpful to visualize the approximate distance from the truck to the trailhead where JRF was found.

    • @motleymeanderings
      @motleymeanderings 9 місяців тому

      @@davidschmidt9508 Thanks! We’re going off the extensive damage to the truck. They could have also gone up Fish Creek, but that’s the only two ways in to where the truck was located and where a truck can access. He was found near the entrance to the trailhead of Harper Canyon. It is a very remote hike from the fish creek area to the entrance at Harper. It’s rocky and difficult.
