What I love about this is... When I was a tween I took piano lessons, I found the music sheet for this song and I asked my piano teacher to teach me this song. She did and 17 years later this is the only song I know how to play to this day. Except! I always forget how to play this part 3:38!!! And here I am watching the man who wrote the song struggle on the same exact spot. Made me feel better hahaha

I love this guy and wish I'd been more familiar with their music way back in the mid or even early 2000s though i was quite young maybe 14-15. Some guy had given me or I might have bought it can't remember, but I wore this Smashing Pumpkins t -shirt throughout most of 6th and 7th grade but it never occurred to me to look into their music for some reason. I guess certain music is meant for certain periods in life. So glad I finally discovered this group.

Oh that! The people recording this had no idea that what they were about to record was close to genius despite Billy's stops and stutters and surprisingly they don't seem to realise it while they are filming either! I'm mesmerised by it. Like others I really appreciate hearing the extra pieces in this demo and could visualise this longer version becoming a glorious start to any concert - one spotlight on the keyboard and a shiny black piano. There is another glorious demo version though (without the organ) on a later version of the album and its definitely worth listening too.

Not the biggest of fan of some of the meandering noodling you hear in places, but I wish the first half of the piece was part of the officially released version we know today.

Idk much about piano players and just straight piano ballads but I think this is the best piece of music ever written on a piano.
