    Easily the best 860 model they've ever made. These things make you forget you even have sneakers on. I was a kayano lover but that changed once Asics butchered the line with the 29 and completely killed it with the 30.

      That’s really hard to answer without seeing you walk. I do have a video on fitting yourself for Hoka’s, but the information is universal. Let me know if that helps. Main tip………make sure you can really wiggle your toes around a lot. Too little is truly bad for your feet and can cause permanent damage.

    I get the same problem with my adi. The shoes is lightweight and my toe feels so comfortable, and although it's on the wider side as many buyers have to down 0.5, my arch is still hit by the side of shoe. I've tried to put some paper towels under the insole and it helps a bit... first time I've high side

    Ride is nice. Tempus did not work for me. Way too stable. I liked a lot the Speed 2. They f up the Speed 4 - that heel is too much and makes the shoe too bulky

    My first 2 pairs developed the problem as they aged, On my latest Bondi 8 it was noticeable from the start and getting worse. Spenco does not seem to make this product anymore, I cut off the heels to some old inserts and its helped a little. Like most shoe companies today they don't seem to really care and leave quality control to the public. Any ruff or protruding point in a foot bed of any shoe is just wrong. No more Hoka's for me.

    Do they sell inserts to raise the front of the foot? So if my shoe has too high of a drop I can raise the front so it reduces the drop? Separate issue but I do have the issue stated in the video I think with this shoe however I wonder about maybe tweaking another shoe that has a higher drop and that might work too . I was a 4-5 mm drop .

    • @runnergy
      @runnergy 8 місяців тому

      Great question. Here is a cheap way to raise the front and lower the drop. And it's free if you got some extra insoles around from another running shoe. Cut those extra insoles just behind the ball of the foot. Cut them across so you have just the front part and place it under the insole of the new shoe, not on top....underneath. This should work IF and BIG IF it does NOT make your shoes toebox too tight. Let me know if that makes otherwise I will make a video for this. Thanks for watching. Run well, Live Well!

    Did they solve the problem for the clifton 9? Version 5 felt like getting cut with a knife. It's not just the arch inside, it's the attachment of outermaterial on the midsole that creates an edge that points straight to your foot (it's a design flaw, it should curve outwards). Back then i cut material off on the outside, which greatly reduced but didn't fix the problem. Dumped them pretty early. Now i'm looking for cushioned shoes to complement my brooks hyperion tempo. SHould i get rincons?

    The problem with Altra is they went away from the original. They seem to keep reducing width of the toe box on the outside of the shoe. Seems to prematurely start to curve in. I am hoping the 7 is back to the way it used to be. Also, build quality seems to have dropped off as prices have gone way up.

    I have major issue with the vertical volume in the Via Olympus as I have a high instep on right foot. I am tired of fighting this problem. I just got the Torin 6 at very good price and they have been a little better than the Via Olympus for my instep (I still have to keep lacing loose and may have to re-lace similar to what I am doing on the Via Olympus). I like the sound of the newer changes in the Torin 7 that I think would all be good except for the vertical volume. That may make it a no go for me. I agree about adding a little more to bottom of shoe for a bit more stability. I have not tried the wide version of the Torin 6, so I don’t know how much difference there is between the standard and wide. I am surprised the tongue isn’t bothering me as much as I initially thought when I first put them on (Torin 6). I really could use a little more cushion in forefoot of the Torin 6 for my metatarsalgia pain when going longer distances (for me). I also feel the inside wide of heel and ankle area pressure in Torin 6. But, so far it hasn’t caused me a real issue yet. I just got the Torin 6 couple days ago, so have not gone over 7 miles yet in them. I am also concerned about more toe spring in the Torin 7. I have issues in both big toe joints and more toe spring would not be good for me. I like the firmer feel in the Via Olympus, but the pain on my instep and I get pain in sides of both little toes (on longer distances) are problematic for me. The Via Olympus are not breathable and my feet feel like they are baking in an oven on these hot summer days. May be okay come cooler weather. I do not get much metatarsal pains in the Via Olympus (some, but not too bad). That is a major plus for me.

      Maybe try an orthotic insole or a metatarsal pad. Thanks for watching.

    "improvements vs 6 and 5" don't mean anything when none of the problems should have even existed in the first place. i don't even have any of the 2-4.5 ones but doesn't everyone agree that they were superior to 5+ or at least 4.5 plush? and u can't beat the old timer simplicity and well, originality (of model and concept) of the 1.5 and previous. i mean after all, if a model doesn't have an intrinsic spirit or heritage that comes with it, why even keep making it.

      I prefer the wider base of the 1-3.5’s. But other than that just about everything is better on the new 7. I also think Altra might need to add a wide width as they have gotten a bit narrow. Thanks for watching.

    When I bought my first pair of Hoka Clifton 8s / wide, I mentioned the arch feel to the shoe salesman. "Yeh, you're supposed to have an arch in your foot." Well, guess what. The purpose of this shoe was to wear in a shop environment, so I was looking for a soft sole. I decided to go with them ($140) and hope that maybe the arch would soften over time, or my foot would adapt. Nope! After one particular order of about a thousand pieces, the repetitive motion on my left arch left me hobbled for over a month. Still dealing with it. I had to switch off to an old pair of K-Swiss with no cushion, and no arch. I love the cushion of the Hoka, but hate the high sidewall arch.

      Not sure where you got them. But if a customer of mine says they feel the arch in any shoe, I basically say no dice. They are should be comfortable in the shoe in the store at the time of purchase. There should be no thought of well. I hope it gets more comfortable. Or it should break again. Nope. Should feel good in the store.

    I have a little over 100 miles in the Torin 5. I've never had issues with the tongue - I run in crew socks. Looking forward to buying the 7s.

      Having crew high socks can help, but consider yourself lucky. Even Altra says the 5’s didn’t come out correctly. 6 was a slight improvement. Like i say “I don’t believe in a bad shoe, just the wrong shoe on the wrong person”. 👍
