The best song on Mr. Bungle’s album California | Good Art Bad Art #15
Once again I forgot to give my score! 87/100 for this one.
Good Art Bad Art is a weekly series where I share my opinion on the highs (and lows) of various creative endeavours. I will stick to the world of music, mostly, but might occasionally veer into literature too. Each video is 8 minutes of raw footage, filmed in one take. No fancy edits here! I want these videos to feel like discussions; as if you're here in the room with me, and you've just asked my opinion on the subject in question.
Do you agree or disagree with my views on Mr Bungle's song None Of Them Knew They Were Robots? Let me know!
What should the topic of my next Good Art Bad Art video be?

Hhmmm 🤔Greg harradine composer?? Never heard of him or his music ?? This “review “ reminds of the old news clips on tv with people throwing rocks at an armoured tank 😂 useless fat waste of time , not in the same league and no one cares! Coldplay will be remembered in musical history, Jeff herradine will never be!! Just facts 🤷🏻‍♂️ Coldplay bring joy, love peace to MILLIONS of peoples lives for over 20 years and you get clowns like this trying to criticise oh please, you are the reason Coldplay exists 😂

A reasonable response to a pretty dull album. Sadly, it seems to me that Coldplay's been hit with so much criticism over the years, a fair bit of it unjust, that they simply tune it all out and hope for the best. I'd like to see the band switch to a more hands-off producer for the next record - sort of to re-strengthen Chris's songwriting muscles, but that appears unlikely unless Moon Music sells significantly less than expected. I was very proud of the band for making something like Everyday Life so late in their career, and it aches a little to see them backsliding like they have been recently. Thanks for giving your thoughts!

This is so beautiful (I actually found your channel through Bethany Wakim's)! Would you mind if I recorded my own rendition for part of a video? I'm currently working on vol. 2 of a compilation series on my channel where I record piano music from composers I find from around the internet and I think this would be a great addition to vol. 2 or 3.

Thank you! I would be delighted if you'd record this piece, please do go ahead. (Sheet music link in video description.) I'm a big fan of Bethany Wakim's work - I have a video of my rendition of her beautiful Nocturne No. 4 on my channel. I was thrilled when she recorded my very short piece Thrall recently.

I can see you skipped mentioned Ghost Stories and Everyday Life, which were released during the 10 years period you mentioned, those two are the best albums Coldplay released, with good song writing, and Moon Music continues that legacy, plus the positivity we can hear since Mylo Xyloto and A Head Full of Dreams. If you want Coldplay to sound like 25 years ago, go ahead to Parachutes and A Rush Of Blood To The Head. And do some reviews on all the albums mentioned before daring to release a review like this.

I still like a lot of their new music but I do think Ghost Stories from 2014 was the last album that I really fully enjoyed. I'm not even sure why, I just haven't liked the albums in the last 10 years as much and when I'm in the mood to listen to Coldplay I always listen to everything from before 2015.

Let’s take a deep dive: Guest artist: this is nothing compared to MOTS with Collabs, this album has collaboration on WE PRAY and GOOD FEELiNGS, and no writing doesn’t count because loads of bands do this undercover. Coldplay doesn’t care about their popularity as much, that’s the point, so you’re wrong. MOTS was bad, but MOON is much better. Extra music: shows variety, case closed, but I do agree that it’s a little random. Stand outs: MOON MUSiC , 🌈(Neon forest /Angel song) and IAAM. His voice: great, that simple, his voice actually really doesn’t even get noticed to me anymore, music matters more, I think that’s the point in general. GOOD FEELiNGS is the worst in my opinion and IAAM is the best. ONE WORLD is special, you might not know that your offending 100,000s of people. as people, normal people recorded their voice on that one. 🌈: it’s not called that really, it’s 6 names actually. Mate, this song was really well done, I don’t see it any other way, I hear relaxation music, calmness. No one mentions the album release was 95% recyclable paper, just thought I’d throw that out there. So yeah, I disagree with you in literally every way but still, each to their own.

I agree, hard to admit as I love Coldplay and Chris Martin, they are so talented. Feels like, and the rainbow song are great but the rest feel like a b side overspill of the spheres, and some of It even has samples/ chord patterns of the sphere's songs- deliberate or ran out of ideas?🤔. Bit gutted as really looked forward to this album . There's certainly no coloratura epic songs on this album. This is definitely their weakest album, way diluted and steered into the woke crap that folk still fall for. Bring back the melancholic and uplifting rolled into one epic songs that Coldplay do so well, instead of the happy we can all be friends one world crap. I really struggle to write this but I'm being honest, I hope Coldplay can go back to how they used to be instead of going along with the narrative of the powers above, but this is what happens when you become huge and used as a programming tool. Back to the drawing board guy's but thank you so much for giving me so much in the past that I will cherish forever. Been here since parachutes, more acoustic and electric guitars, less synth and keep going with piano, stop all the celeb of the day hangers on samples, and get on with being Coldplay ❤️👍

7:17 "Are you kidding me? Are we children here or are we adults?" ????? My guy did we even listen to the same song???? In that same Maya Angelou sample, she said that that was an excerpt of a 19TH CENTURY AFRICAN AMERICAN SONG. THIS WAS NOT WRITTEN BY HER OR BY COLDPLAY, IT'S JUST A BIT FROM ANOTHER SONG. Frankly I did try going into this video with an unbiased perspective, because I know music is subjective and what might work for me might not for you, and that's completely fine. I myself am not the biggest fan of this album and do agree it's one of their worst ones, but some of your critiques here are just not that well explained, petty arguments made in bad faith or just completely misinterpreting the intent behind some lyrics or even whole songs (like the one I just talked about). I really did not like this. Anyway the title track and 6th track (that is pronounced Alien Hits Alien Radio btw) are the best tracks in the album, and also iAAM and GOOD FEELiNGS are not that bad, change my mind.

Isn't it nice that they still like each other, want to make music together and enjoy touring more than they dislike the inconvenience or need the money? To still be doing creative work together after 30 years for an audiences that are still enthusiastic and feel loyalty towards them is not totally unheard of, but nevertheless it's a feat achieved by only a tiny minority of bands. They're a bunch of straight guys who love each other, like being together, support each other, show few if any signs of being ravaged by the kinds of neuroses that can adversely affect male friendships, they've not fought over women, their relationships with women seem to be healthy, they seem like good dads, they're always supporting charitable causes and are quick to lend their help where it can be useful. If they want to spend time in the studio (which is their version of the potting shed at the allotment) and invite their mates to come jam, or give some profile to younger artists, that all sounds lovely. Does the fire of their creativity burn as hot as it ever did? Maybe not, or maybe not as consistently as they did. But they haven't stopped being competent musicians. If the album is nevertheless a bit meh, does it really matter? Is it worth getting upset about? I can think of worse things in the world. If you don't like it, probably best to just ignore it.

They left the best song off the record which is The Karate Kid. This is how you know they only care about the fame. Chris Martin is a very talented artist but he gave up on the pure ambition of exploring music, and decided to just enjoy being a celebrity. Coloratura is another example of him honestly expressing himself.

It’s just your opinion and what you want to hear in a Coldplay album, Like many other former Coldplay fans (Myself NOT Included) they love the first 2 Coldplay albums, and then after that they expect Coldplay should have made very similar albums from there on in…Boring why create the same again? They had to move on explore different sounds add more to their musical palette so to speak, YES they have become more pop oriented since those early albums, BUT above all they still produce VERY melodic, Anthemic songs that a LOT of people like myself included…I now suggest you move on and don’t ever listen to any more new Coldplay albums…How about you start talking about the Dutch band HAEVN !!! Surely you can’t find a reason to dislike their music? Give them a chance and review some of their songs PLEASE 🙏

I do agree! Moon Music is dull like Spheres... And I am a Coldplay fan! Or was I? My Coldplay album ranking would be: #1 Viva la vida ... ★★★★★ #2 Parachutes ★★★★★ #3 A Rush of Blood ★★★★★ #4 X&Y ★★★★½ #5 Everyday Life ★★★★ #6 Mylo Xyloto ★★★½ #7 Ghost Stories ★★★ #8 A Head full of Dreams ★★★ #9 Moon Music ★★½ #10 ... Spheres ★★ There are bands and singers who grow in quality during their music career: ABBA, Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, ... But Coldplay get worse and worse... I was a fan but I do not expect any more great albums from them and I will not be sad when the last album (#12) is dropped.

As someone who really was into what they did from 1998 to 2004 or so, and own lots of early and very rare physical copies of music, it's sad to see what they call an album these days. There best work? It's not good. I remember hearing Coloratura from their previous album and was kinda hopeful they could do something great again....but it just didn't happen and they album was really lame.
